“Nooooooooooo!” I screamed loudly.
Khadi placed me down in the elevator to check on Khaza. I grabbed the gun from his waist band and walked up to Yani. She was laying on her back coughing up blood. “Fuck you.” She managed to get out, “I’ll see you in hell.”
“Let me send you meet your husband bitch.” I left off multiple rounds damn near riddling her body.
Khadi paused what he was doing and looked at me, “Hold on!” I told Khaza picking up the sheet that was on my body and tied it around his chest tightly trying to stop the blood. “Khadi, let’s goooooo!” I hollered before he jumped on the elevator taking us down to Biggs and Zilla. They carried Khaza to the truck and drove off with Khadi and I right behind them.
Epilogue
Brooklyn
It took some time for my bruises and scars to heal but Khadi was patient with me and made sure that I was taken care of. Everyone stepped up and did their part while he took care of me and nursed me back to health. He ended up passing the torch of the illegal business to Khaza and everyone was ok with that. He was home more and spent every hour of the day with me and KJ.
“Baby, you can wear this suit.” I pulled a suit from his side of the closet and brought it out for him to see. Khadi had been staring out the window at the ocean all afternoon. “Come on babe, you have to pick out something.” I stood in front of him blocking his view.
“Woman, I’m not going. My word is final.” He sat down on the chaise in the corner of the room and pulled on his cigar while did circular motions with his cup of Dusse.
I was so happy in the space we were in. I was finally happy, although Toi was still a big part of our lives, I was ok with that. Khadi made it perfectly clear to her that there would never be together ever and he made me promise that I would never second guess his love for me. For the first time in a long time, I felt nothing but pure happiness. The relationship I was building with KJ felt really good. He was one of the sweetest little five-year-old’s I’d ever met and I loved him like he was my own. We had joint custody of him and Khadi put Toi up in a nice apartment on the other side of Miami.
“What’s wrong?” Roselina asked me as I walked downstairs and into the kitchen. Everyone was standing around dressed and ready to go.
“Your stubborn ass brother, that’s what’s wrong; he won’t get dressed.” I sighed grabbing a bottle of water out of the refrigerator. “Where is Zilla?” I asked and Khali rolled her eyes.
“He’s not allowed to be within twenty feet of me.” She responded and everyone fell out laughing.
Khali was still had not forgiven him front visitation and I mean he was trying his best to get his family back but she wasn’t having it. She was really teaching his ass a lesson. “Khali you have to be mature enough to deal with him pertaining to your child and family events. Never let him see you sweat.” I winked at her reinterating the same quote she told me when I was going through it with Roselina.
Speaking of Roselina, she walked up to me and took my smoothie out of my hand and lead me back to the stairs. “You go up there and you make my son get dressed, I don’t care how you do it, just do it. Us woman have worked too hard to put our family back together.” She patted my ass like a child as I walked up the stairs. “Don’t you come back down here without him dressed and ready to go. The limo driver has been waiting for us for over an hour.” I looked back at her smiling.
It felt good to know that Roselina was now on my side and not against me. Realizing or shall I say admitting that I was the best thing that happened to her son was hard for her at first or maybe she couldn’t see past the chaos. All that did matter though because she was treating me and showing me love and respect like she was supposed too.
“Khadi!” I called his name once I opened the door to our master suite but closed my mouth when I seen him standing in front of the mirror fully dressed. I couldn’t help but blush at how handsome he looked even with a scowl on his face.
“I’m only going because-…”
“Because of me.” I finished his sentence and I saw a slight smile appear on his face. “Everything will be fine Khadi, trust me.” I walked up to him standing on my tippy toes and kissed him.
“Yuck!” KJ said standing in the doorway.
“Come here.” Khadi took off after him as he ran away.
“Alright, everyone, let’s roll.” I announced as I made it down to the bottom of the stairs. Everyone looked very nice for the occasion. “Oh wait, Milaaaaaaaa.” I called out her name and watched Biggs eyes almost fall out of their sockets when he laid eyes on her. I had sent Mila out for the day to get her hair, nails, and feet done and I even bought her a nice fitted, red dress that was turning everyone’s head tonight. Mila was looking damn good tonight and had a nice body under those work clothes she was always wearing around the house.
“Damn, Mila, if I was a little bit older I’d-…” Terrance started to say but was cut short.
“You wouldn’t do shit lil nigga and close your eyes before I close them permanently.” Biggs told him.
“That’s you my nigga?” Terrance asked causing everyone to look in Biggs direction waiting on his answer. I could’ve sworn I heard Mila’s heart stop beating as she waited.
He turned back and looked at Mila, “Yeah, that’s all me.”
“My fault my fault.” Terrance backed up and threw his hands in the air surrendering, causing everyone to laugh.
Everyone clapped and whistled as Biggs walked up to Mila and taking her in his arms and kissing her down.
“Yuck!” KJ hollered then looked at his daddy to see if he was going to chase him.
“Ok, everyone, let’s go before we are late.” Roselina rushed everyone out the house into the limo.
I squeezed Khadi’s hand as we pulled up to the church, “Remember how your family accepted me with open arms?” he shook his head yes. “Open your arms up and let some new people in. Everyone is not out to get us, ok.” He nodded his head again.
I had Angelica checked out and everything came back legit so I don’t know why Khadi was so uptight about her. The whole situation with Damere aka Stacy had fucked up his mindframe. I looked around the limo before stepping out and said a quick prayer that everyone was here in this car and safe; well except Zilla, he had to drive his own car behind us. I was finally getting that fairytale love story I deserved and it felt so good that I wanted everyone to experience the same thing.
Once we entered the church and Khadi saw Khaza standing up in his tuxedo he relaxed a little bit and grabbed my hand as we made our way to the front of the church and took our seats. The ceremony was very small and intimate so it was only us, a few of Khaza’s friends and workers, and Angelica’s parents. The pianist played “All My Life” by K-Ci and Jojo right before the church doors opened and Angelica stood there looking like an angel in all white.
After Khaza got shot in Yani’s condo, we thought we had lost him from the amount of blood he lost and going into a coma for a week. Once he was awake and realized that Angel was on his side once again he proposed to her and of course she said yes and they both decided on a small ceremony only for close family and friends. So, here I was supporting the love birds while being in love myself.
I looked over at Khadi who was staring at me with googly eyes making me blush. “What?” I asked him all childlike.
“Nothing. I’m just loving my wife extra today.” He kissed me on my forehead.
“Stop it.” I slapped his arm pay attention your brother is getting married.
“If there is anyone who can show just why this couple cannot lawfully be joined in matrimony, let them speak now or forever hold their peace.” The pastor looked out into the pews over the rim of his glasses. I turned and looked at Khadi and he smiled at me, I guess his heart was softening and realizing that maybe his little brother picked the right one this time.
After Khaza and Angel said their “I Do’s” we had a nice dinner at Palme d’Or at the Biltmore hotel before seeing them off
to privately fly out to Bora Bora for a much needed honeymoon after everything this family has been through.
Khadi helped me out of the limo once the driver made it to our estate. He closed the door right behind me and the driver drove off. “Baby what about KJ and your mom and Zeus?” They had been staying to the house the past week or so.
“They will stay the night with at Khaddo’s tonight.” He grabbed my hand and lead me into the house.
He walked behind me as we made it to our bedroom, my mouth dropped at the entire bedroom being covered with rose petals all the way up into our bathroom jacuzzi tub. There were gifts everywhere from different designers that I didn’t need but I appreciated the thought. He walked up behind me placing a glass of champagne in my hand.
“I need you to come out that dress, ma, so I can rub you down,” he whispered in my ear, making me take notice of the massage table that sat near the balcony. Shit, he ain’t have to tell me twice. I reached behind me and unzipped that damn dress myself before letting it fall at my feet and started walking toward the table. “Aht, aht, take everything off.” He pointed to my bra and panties.
“Oh, you trying to massage everything?” I asked him with lustful eyes.
“Everything!” he replied with a mischievous grin on his face.
I quickly dropped my panties and unsnapped my bra and crawling onto the table while he rubbed my body up and down with some hot massage oil.
“Hmmmmmm.” I moaned feeling good as he worked out the kinks in my body. My eyes popped open at the sound of something, “Baby, what was that?”
“What?” he looked at me like I was crazy.
“I could’ve sworn I heard a dog whimper.” I knew it couldn’t have been Remy because she lives with Khali. I tried to sit up and Khadi held me down.
“Baby chill, you ruining my night I have planned for you.” He laughed.
Somehow, I got out of his grip, sat up and looked down in the yard below and there he was sitting below and near the pool with a bow around his neck. I looked back at Khadi with tears in my eyes.
“I know how much Rebel meant to you and I know this one could never actually replace that he will come close. He’s trained the same exact way and although I don’t think you need extra protection since I’m home, I want to mend every heart break in there that’s possible.” He pointed at my heart.
With tears in my eyes, I looked back at my husband, best friend, lover, and protector. “You already did.”
P.S.
We made a baby that night.
