The Sun Goddess of Cargills Castle Page 17

Without their leader the Fomorians looked lost. They needed to regroup. I was glad for it. My body and soul had been ripped apart already and I didn’t think I had anything left in me.

There should have been lots of cheering going on, the fight was over, we’d won, the sun was shining, life would grow again in the Otherworld and the Fomorians were retreating – but there wasn’t. Their Mother was gone again, she’d barely walked half a kilometre before she was encased back in her stony tomb again overlooking the ocean. She’d made a huge sacrifice for her people trapping Bres with her. She must’ve thought this was the only way. Why else would she do it.

Uar walked over to his Mother and hugged her. He talked to her, I didn’t know what he said I couldn’t hear him but I could see his back.

“Uar, my god what is on your back?” I walked over and ran my hands over it. “It looks some sort of tattoo.” He turned to stare at me. “It’s true, your back is covered with black writing.” I looked closer. I had no idea what it said, it just looked like a bunch of scribble and symbols to me. “How weird.”

“Turn around, let me see yours.” He said.

  “What?”

“Turn around, your back was burning to?” He was right my back felt like something was crawling up it as it ate through my skin.

I turned around and pulled the back of my top up. He laughed. “Mother.”

“What do you mean mother? Do I have it on my back too?”

  “Yes we both do.”

It all started to sink in. “This must’ve something to do with what your Mother told me.”

  “She told you something? When?”

“When she was kissing your Dad” I cringed at the thought of the memory, yuck – why would anyone want to kiss him, he was such an ass. “I could hear her in my mind. She told me that we needed to find the sapience. Both you and I had to find it together. She was very adamant on that.” I turned to Uar. “But I have no idea what that means, do you?”

“I may have an idea” He said glumly as he kept investigating my back.

“Uar what is it, what does it mean?”

“It means this isn’t over yet.”

  ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Another book done, go me! The Sun Goddess of Cargill's Castle was written for and totally inspired by my daughter Brooke. My previous books weren't something my teenager would be interested in and I wanted her to read something that I had written... so the story of Brigid began. A big clap for Robyn Flynn, Jamie Flynn and my awesome husband Nick Nilsen for reading my drafts and giving me advice to make this story better. I'd also like to thank my friends and family who I force to read my books, thanks for persevering with my craziness.

I write because I have a story in my head and it needs to come out. Once it takes root, it must go on paper or it will drive me insane.

The story of Brigid continues and is currently being written… keep your eye out.

DID YOU ENJOY THIS BOOK? It would be awesome if you leave a review on the site you purchased it from. Every review makes a difference.
