“That actually doesn’t sound like a bad idea.”
“Come on!” Timber said.
“Wait,” Brian paused, “Before we go back in, I have something to ask you. I heard you mention to Eva and Anne that your Christmas wish on the star didn’t come true. You didn’t wish to keep Soothing Bliss here at this location?”
“No…I didn’t,” Timber said. Then she looked up into Brian’s eyes. “I wished for you.”
“So that means your wish did end up coming true.”
“Yes. It does.”
“That really makes me feel special, that I was your one wish.”
“You are special. Extremely special.”
Brian leaned in for one last kiss, but right before their lips met, there was another knock at the door. Eva cracked it open, not even bothering to wait for them to tell her to come in this time.
“Look you two, I cannot hold these people off any longer. You all have got to get out here! And yes, I ran my big mouth and already told almost everyone about the engagement, because I’m completely and emphatically beside myself with the news. So get out here. Now!” she insisted before practically slamming the door behind her.
“We’d better go,” Timber said.
“Yes, I’m eager to go show off my future wife. And the future mother of my children….”
Timber wasn’t sure that she’d heard Brian correctly. As he took her hand in his and led her back into the party, she allowed his words to sink in. Not only had he truly changed his mind about wanting to marry again, but about having a family with her as well.
As they walked through the crowd, partygoers congratulated the happy couple. Timber and Brian hugged and thanked everyone for their well wishes. She looked over at Anne, who was standing next to the Christmas tree. Anne smiled and blew her a congratulatory kiss. Timber blew a kiss back, then looked up at the crystal star. It was once again twinkling magically.
It was then that Timber realized the winding road that she’d been traveling for so long had finally led her to her destination. And to put it quite simply, it was nothing short of bliss.
