After she thoroughly drained and satisfied me with her luscious mouth, we rushed to the bed and just when I thought it was my turn to pleasure her, she had other ideas.
“I want to be on top,” she stated as though she’d done this many times.
“Baby. You just sucked me dry. I can’t perform again. You need to give me a little time to recover.”
“Donovan...” she whined and unintentionally started doing a strip tease. Something about seeing her straddling me while wearing only a white button-down shirt with her long legs folded back did wonders for the libido. With each button undone, I got harder and was ready to perform. Donovan Taylor was back! The earlier me was a fluke and I would be able to outlast my lover this time.
“You know what to do?” I smirked, challenging her to take control.
“Fit tab A into tab B?” She returned my smirk with her smartass answer. That earned her a slap on her ass.
She slid in like a pro. “You sure you haven’t done this before?”
“Nope.” She groaned when I met her thrust. “Never.” She was all breathy and sounding like a phone-sex operator. You’ve got a few role-play outfits coming your way, Babe.
My cell phone rang, and I would have let it go except it was Delaney’s mother calling. I was having such a good time watching her enjoy herself riding me, that I thought I’d crank up the level of excitement.
“Hello, future mother-in-law.” I grinned an evil grin as Delaney’s face turned into one of horror. Funny girl was horrified, mortified, and angry, but couldn’t stop bobbing up and down. I purposely bore up even harder every time she bore down.
“Are you back in London? You know we have dinner in half an hour? Shall we push back dinner?”
“We are back, we are a little pre-occupied...” My girlfriend’s face went completely white when I told her mother we were pre-occupied. She was angry enough to pull herself off me. I held down her thigh and did what she loved—I rubbed her slick clit. She froze and went back to impaling me. “We might be a little late but we will be there soon.”
“When did you get back? Is Delaney right there? Can I talk to her?”
“We got back...” I lost my train of thought when I saw that my woman was in a trance with her tits bobbing up and down. Her eyes closed, her head tilted back, she was my nymph, my goddess. “She’ll call you right back,” was all I could produce as I hung up on my future mother-in-law.
“Donovan, you feel so good,” was all I heard because seeing her in all her naked glory, riding me like an innocent-harlot, I came fast, hard, and gloriously.
When we finally caught our breath, we fell into a fit of laughter when I told Delaney that her mother was expecting a call back.
“You are so evil! I can’t believe you did that.”
“What?” I acted innocent.
“Just for that, I’m not having sex with you for at least...twelve hours.” She laughed at the absurdity of her statement.
“Hi Jake!” My bride gave her cousin a hug and a kiss when we finally got to Belgravia after sex and a shower.
“You’re late.” He tried his damnedest not to laugh at us. “But please, spare me any details.”
Delaney had very few words. “It’s not what you think, Jake.”
“Hell yeah it is...and then some!” I did a little fist bump with my best friend.
“What did you tell Jake?” She was upset!
Jake spoke on my behalf. “You’re late, your hair is wet as if you showered away any evidence, and your fiancé looks like my Ellie when she gets away with doing something naughty. But, we don’t kiss and tell, Laney.”
“Gawwwdd!” With her hands on her head, she ran down the hallway looking like the time when she was ten and denied having a boyfriend.
“Everything is well?” Jake put his arm on my back and gave me an encouraging pat.
“Everything is magnificent. Now that we’ve ironed out all our issues, I just need her to agree to marry me.”
“Isn’t that a give-in?”
“Shit. That’s what I thought. She says I’m doing something wrong and thus will not marry me.”
“No more Michael, Kate, or Jane. What can you be doing wrong?”
“Who the hell knows? Can you find out for me? Have Emily ask her, then clue me in. I am in the complete dark, my friend.”
“Will do.”
We walked in to Gram giving her a “stay single” speech, and I told Gram she was not helping my cause. Apparently, she didn’t give a damn about my cause. She wanted her granddaughter to see the world and live it without me. That was not going to happen.
My future bride agreed with me. “Gram. I thank you for your advice. I respect you and all you’ve accomplished, and would be thrilled if I could be half the woman you are when I am your age. I think everyone here at the dinner table has known about my childhood crush on this man since I met him more than a decade ago. Never in all those years did I see myself with anyone but Donovan. Now that we are finally on the same page, I want to give this a try, Gram. I will love, live, experience—and I’ll do it with Donovan.” Damn right, she was going to do it with me.
Dinner with the Reids was what I remembered it to be when I was younger. It was filled with lively conversation and raucous laughter, and it was only made better because Delaney was with me. We spoke of our short-lived jaunt through Europe, our upcoming event at the firm and a future trip up to Scotland. The entire family was up for a long weekend playing golf and enjoying the spa up at St. Andrews, and I for one was looking for a rematch against my bride-to-be.
With the night getting deeper, we lost everyone to their beds and I walked Roland to his room so I could get my woman who was having a heart-to-heart with her grandmother. Without sounding trite, I’d admit that today was the best day of my life. Delaney and I had made love for the first time, I believed we were on our way toward the altar, and she loved me as deeply as I loved her. The day couldn’t get any better but I was wrong. Roland and I arrived at Gram’s door just in time to hear her declaration of love.
“Darling. It’s not Donovan who worries me. I worry about you not having experienced life. From what your mother told me, Donovan is the first boy you gave your heart, soul, and body to, and we both wondered if you should date and get to know other men. There’s no room for regret once you’re married. This is your chance to explore.”
“Gram. Since I was a little girl, I’ve dreamed of marrying Donovan Taylor. No, I didn’t really date and yes, Donovan is the only boy I’ve given myself to, but I know I won’t regret not having known other men. The few months I dated Michael, I enjoyed his company, but never did I feel this heart-racing, heart-thumping, and even heart-breaking kind of excitement. I have to confess, Gram, I’d rather live in complete heartbreak having once been with Donovan Taylor, than a mediocre happiness with any other man. I love him that much, Gram. I can’t walk away unless he walks away first.”
“You earned yourself a rare diamond, Donovan.” Roland commented followed by a stern warning. “I assume your feelings are genuine and my granddaughter will not be living in complete heartbreak the rest of her life?”
“I will not be walking away from my jewel, ever.” I promised her grandfather.
The London office was not as much of a mess as Roland and I expected. With him having been absent for months, we thought we’d have much work to do to get it ready for our potential buyers tomorrow. We held a meeting first thing in the morning and informed all the equity partners, as minor as they were, about the plan to sell the firm. Roland was ready for all the concerns and questions and once they all realized the generous provisions coming their way with the sale of the firm, no one complained further. The next meeting took longer than expected as we answered all the questions the potential buyers had concerning AAP.
“That went well.”
“I think so, Roland. The office is in good shape. You have several possible buyers lined up to meet you and
the partners know you’ve been beyond generous all these years. Who could complain?”
“Donovan, I’ve made enough money to live several lifetimes and still have leftovers. I’d like to share it with those who have been loyal to me.”
“When this is all done, you’ll make pittance from this sale.”
“You forget I’m still majority owner of the US firm. Like I said, Estelle and I have more money than we know what to do with, and all we want at this point is to love each other and be with family.”
“Sounds good.”
“What do you think of the people you’ve met so far who hold an interest in AAP?”
“They’re all a bunch of idiots. Everyone’s come to the auction, but no one wants to be the first bidder. But I have a good feeling about tomorrow. I spoke with a rep from the Eggleston Group this morning and they sounded eager. They are sending a large contingent over tomorrow to ‘tour’ the firm and they’ll all be at the function at night.”
“Great. I hope to have this done before we go back home to America. What will you and Laney do when this is all done?”
“We’ll get married and travel the world until I have to come back to reality, and take the helm of the US firms. With Max in limbo, who knows when Jane will be my sidekick?”
“I think that’s a fine idea. I’ll see you later?”
“If all goes well, I’ll catch a ride to Belgravia with you.”
“OK.”
I finally came around to calling Delaney and realized it was beyond lunchtime. It wouldn’t be a Donovan-Delaney relationship if we didn’t have an issue or two before 8:00am. This issue began last night after dinner when my woman refused to sleep with me. After having sex with her twice in half a day, there was no way I was going to sleep alone—ever! She turned into Snow White again, and complained there were too many eyes watching her in Belgravia. That argument extended to this morning and now there was a comical text from her asking for forgiveness for her brattiness. I’d have to ask for an apology in the form of a sexual favor instead. I called her cell phone and hoped to coax her to lunch at this late hour, but she didn’t answer. I called the house phone and Emily gave me a vague runaround.
“So, where is my lovely bride-to-be?”
“Out,” was her only answer.
“Out, as in outside playing with the kids?”
“Just out. Meeting a friend. Having...” She wouldn’t continue.
“Emily.” I complained.
“She should be home soon, Donovan. I’ll have her call you. Bye.”
Well that conversation alone forced me to leave work in the middle of the day and go drop by on my bride-to-be.
The cab dropped me off just in time to see Delaney waving good-bye to Michael and that asshole giving her a kiss on my woman’s lips. Shit! Nuh-uh! NO man was touching my woman.
“What the fuck!” I yelled more at Michael than Delaney. I heard her groan and that asshole grinned and waved good-bye to me! Had Delaney not stopped me, there would have been an all-out brawl on the street.
“It was done in jest, Donovan. He didn’t mean anything by it and he took me by surprise too. I didn’t know he was going to do that, and it wasn’t like I kissed him back.”
It didn’t matter what her intentions were, I still didn’t like that anyone had touched her lips but me. Like her usual comical and logical self, she smoothed over what had just happened and eagerly took me upstairs to show me a surprise she’d been “slaving over” all night.
She took me to a bedroom, which I knew wasn’t hers, and expected me to understand its meaning. I had no clue why I was here. She got a little annoyed and opened a closet.
“Voila!” she announced with enthusiasm.
The suits looked like mine, but with them all lined up, it looked like any man’s closet. “Are these all mine?”
“You know any other man, not royalty, with a hundred designer suits?” She had a point there.
“So...” I still needed guidance.
She dragged me into the bathroom and once I saw my toiletries sitting next to hers, I got it!
“I see the light is on.” She smiled when I turned to give her a kiss. “This is what I was doing last night when I couldn’t come over and spend the night with you, you surly man. And this,” she showed me the new bedding and towels, “was what I purchased at Harrods today. It cost me a bloody fortune to buy our bedding and towels. That’s why there are very few towels. I hope you do laundry because we will have to do it often.”
How did I go for months without this woman? “My God, I love you.”
“I know,” she kissed me back.
I pulled her onto our bed and had her lie on top of me. It felt damn special being in our bed. “I love being with you,” I told Delaney while making lazy circles on her back. This was how we would spend our free time—loving each other.
“Me too.” She was in a happy daze.
“This feels like we’re married, though we are not!” No matter which way I looked at this problem, I couldn’t solve it. What was the answer to why she wouldn’t marry me? “I’ve thought through you and me and us and I still don’t know what the hell I’m doing wrong. You love me, I love you. You’ve asked me to marry you. Shit! I got it. I need to answer you. That’s the answer. I need to say, ‘YES!’ Is that why you refuse to marry me?” That must’ve been it. She wanted me to answer her letter of proposal from when she was a little girl. “Yes, I will marry you!” I was thrilled I finally figured it out.
“I know you’ll marry me.” What?
“You weren’t waiting for me to answer your proposal?”
She laughed on me and shook her head the best she could while laying on my chest. “No...guess again.” Now she was just toying with me.
“All right, back to the drawing board on that one.”
Delaney started giving me the reasons for this happy revelation when our beautiful goddaughter came and interrupted us. She forced Delaney off my body and took the same position for a while. James followed, and we played with them until it was time for me to face reality and get back to work.
“As much as your uncle would like to play with you, I need to get back to work.”
“Really? I thought you were home for the night.” There were few words that could describe the wondrous feeling of knowing the woman I loved missed me and was waiting for me back at home. Jake was right when he asked me back at Ashley’s wedding if I wanted this life. I did and now I have it.
“I’ll be home as soon as I can.” Home...that was a perfect word for what this room represented.
The next day was chaos. I never made it home, as I worked through the night making sure everything was perfect for our potential buyers. I had a good feeling about these people and I wanted to be completely prepared for any curveballs thrown my way. I asked Delaney to stop by with an outfit for me, as I wouldn’t make it home to change for the dinner function. After she tortured me with phone sex and pictures of her naughty underwear, I couldn’t leave my desk all day. I had such a boner I held the next two meetings in my office.
When Delaney stopped by the office, I thought we could have a quickie and when that didn’t work out, it only got me hornier. Walking out behind my little hussy, she greeted her grandfather with two kisses, and waltzed out of the office like she owned the place. Everyone in the office stared at my gorgeous girlfriend.
“She’s in an awfully good mood. You must be doing your job.”
“Roland, she’s always in a good mood when she’s with me.”
“Yeah, that’s what I thought about her grandmother and next thing I know, she’s married to another man.”
“Great Roland. Just ruin my bloody good mood why don’t you?”
Roland laughed his way into the meeting room.
“Mr. Taylor?” I was interrupted during our meeting. “There’s a Jane Reid from AAP LA wanting to speak with you.”
I excused myself and went to answ
er the phone call I’d been expecting.
“I see my engagement present arrived.” I greeted my future cousin.
“It sure did, along with the note you sent.” She was laughing at my engagement gift for her and Max.
“You calling to thank me?”
“You seriously think I’m going to thank you after all you’ve done to me? Your freakin’ note said, ‘This is the game that started us on our path to misery.’ Never is a date with me miserable, Donovan Taylor!”
“It wasn’t the Laker game that was miserable. It was all the shit that came after that. You remember the hell we both went through once our loves left us?”
“Yeah, I remember. Those are days I never want to repeat—along with that sick kiss. I hope Laney doesn’t find your kisses as disgusting as I did.”
“Jane, my vixen-cousin, you are an anomaly. No woman is repulsed by me—especially not my woman!”
“My woman, huh?”
“Yeah. My woman.” I knew Jane was still laughing at how much of a lovesick puppy I was these days. “I never got to properly congratulate you and Max on your engagement.”
“So you’re throwing floor seats our way to their first game this season?”
“And don’t forget the gift certificate to The Palm. You two can recreate our first date.”We both laughed at the memory. “Thank you, and I’m sorry. You’ve been a great friend all these years, and I’m glad our friendship is still intact after all you and I have been through.”
“I am too, Donovan. You be good to my cousin.”
“I’m a damn dream to your cousin. She’s the only one who hasn’t opened her eyes to it.”
