“Perhaps a bigger family than it ever wants,” said the Sheikh, half under his breath. “Three mothers? Ya Allah, I certainly hope it is a girl.”
Queenie raised an eyebrow. “Really? You want to live the rest of your life answering to four women again? A real Mama’s boy, right?”
The Sheikh turned bright red as all the women laughed, and finally he joined in as well. But not before giving Queenie a look that was for her and her alone. A look that reminded her that he was king, he was Sheikh, he was the alpha animal. He might keep his mouth shut now and join the laughter of the women, but when they were alone he would show her that side of him that no one else had seen, no one else would understand, no one else would accept.
Acceptance, forgiveness, understanding, Queenie thought as she raised her own teacup and smiled, wondering if it was just her imagination or did the swirling steam really look like a jolly, white-bearded man winking and saying, “Have a Mushy Christmas!”

"What do we name her?" said the Sheikh.
Queenie thought for a moment. She counted back nine months just to be sure, smiling at her newborn daughter before looking up into the Sheikh’s eyes.
"Christmas," she said. "We’ll name her Christmas."
