Jessica's Cowboy Daddy Page 6

There was another box that had the potato salad and coleslaw.

“I’m embarrassed to go inside,” she said. “I may never be able to face that ranger again.”

“All he knows is you were wearing shorts, and we were tussling and the plate broke. He doesn’t know you were being bratty to your Daddy.

  “Your brothers know,” she said.

“They thought it was foreplay.” Hawk stroked her cheek. “You’re not part of the family until they start giving you a hard time.”

He kissed her, softly, and she shook her head and pushed him away. “Try to be mad at me, but you know you love me.”

She glared at him. Jessica had never told him she loved him. They were words that never brought about anything good to her. “So you say,” she answered.

“So I know.” He kissed her again. “I love you, too.”

This time she smiled. “What did you and Nate Willis talk about for so long while we were eating cake?”

Hawk looked as if he were considering his response. Finally he said, “He found a convenience store clerk in Clarendon who saw Mrs. Dobbs around one Monday afternoon.”

“After she left Bookman Springs,” she said.

“Exactly.” He stroked her cheek. “And he has phone records that show she talked to her son around the same time. He says she told him she was waiting to talk to you, but he also talked to Mrs. Cunningham from the bank who confirmed the time Mrs. Dobbs was in the bakery.”

“She gets free donuts for a month,” Jessica said.

Hawk reached for the box. “Between her and the vets you’re not going to make any profit this month.”

“It’s worth it, with her. But tell your brothers if they tell the others I was wearing baby doll pajamas I might bitch slap them.”

“Better get your hand ready because I think they already did,” Hawk said as he headed toward the house.

Jessica shut the SUV door and took a deep breath. She wasn’t used to having siblings, and if she and Hawk stayed together she would be inheriting five brothers. She wasn’t sure how to handle it.

She followed Hawk into the house and returned hearty greetings from the Coleman brothers. She didn’t see Nate Willis, but she did see Becky, the woman who had taken Aurora’s place at the cabins where the clients stayed. She had three kids, and all three of them were in a circle with Holt as their fourth. They were all laughing. Jessica took a step closer and saw they were playing marbles, something she hadn’t done in years.

Holt was obviously having a grand time, and it made Jessica wonder how long it would be before he and Aurora had children.

“He’s a grown kid,” Aurora said as she came to stand by Jessica.

  “So it seems,” Jessica said.

“You didn’t forget about our trip to Amarillo tomorrow, did you?”

“Oh crap,” Jessica said. “Yes, I did. I’m so sorry.”

“Well, you’ve had a busy week.” Aurora leaned closer. “You’ll still go with me, right?”

“Where are we going, exactly?” Jessica asked.

  “It’s a surprise.”

Jessica thought about it for a minute, and then laughed. “I’ve always liked an adventure. Sure. But we better not tell Hawk. Until this thing with Mrs. Dobbs is over, I have a feeling he’s going to be very overprotective.”

“Then we’ll have to sneak out,” Aurora said. “Got any ideas?”

“We’ll come up with something,” Jessica said. “But I’m sure my backside will pay the price for it.”

“Then I won’t tell Holt, and we’ll both be in trouble.”

Jessica laughed. “Well, that ought to be interesting. We’re not doing anything illegal, are we?”

“Not in the least,” Aurora said. “We’re doing something that will make us laugh.”

“Until our men realize we’re gone,” Jessica said.

“They’ll get over the mad,” Aurora said.

“Yeah, but I’m not sure my ass will,” Jessica said.

“I want to leave around three,” Aurora said. “We can even stop and get something to eat if you want.”

Aurora giggled, but Jessica didn’t respond to the idea. She wanted to get whatever it was done, and get back to Bookman Springs as quickly as possible. She was going to have to figure out a way to escape from Hawk’s constant monitoring, which she was sure was on his agenda for tomorrow. An idea started to form in her mind, just as Nate Willis arrived, and Austin called out that dinner was ready.

If she was lucky her idea might work. If it didn’t, she wouldn’t be able to sit by this time tomorrow.

  Chapter 7

“We’re leaving in ten minutes for the ranch, so put your shoes on.”

Jessica looked up from her journal. It turned out the composition book was the best thing Hawk had ever given her. She’d written in it every night, and she’d learned quite a bit about herself, and about the situation she was going through right now. Actually two situations, the one with Mrs. Dobbs, and her own feelings about being with someone for the rest of her life.

She wanted to write more, and his going to the ranch was the perfect way for her to slip away to Amarillo with Aurora. It just meant she had to talk him into letting her stay here.

“Why are we going to the ranch? We were just there last night.”

“Last night was food. Today I promised Kyle I’d help him shoe a horse.”

“You go,” she said. She waved her journal at him. “I have things to do.”

Instead of closing early she’d convinced Natalie and Lizbeth to work today. Despite the short notice, they were both thrilled to earn a little extra money. Jessica had texted Aurora to tell her the good news, and her friend had responded she’d see her around three at the bakery; that way Jessica could park her car behind the building and they could leave from there.

“We’ll be back around eight,” Aurora texted. Jessica hoped she was right.

“You’re not staying here,” Hawk said. “Bring the journal with you. You can write there.”

“But I can’t do… laundry there.” She gritted her teeth, because it was the first thing she could think of. Laundry was always done on Sunday when the bakery was closed.

“What are you hiding?” he asked.

Damn him for being so, so what? Suspicious? Smart? Able to figure out things in a single thought?

“Nothing.” She waved the journal at him again. “I’m writing. You asked me to, and that’s what I’m doing.”

“You can write at the ranch.” He picked up one of her shoes, which was near the front door, and tossed it in her direction. “Get ready.”

“What happens if I say no?” She knew what would happen, but it wouldn’t stop her having to go to the ranch. It would just prolong the exit; either that or he would punish her afterward. Afterward might be fun. But then again she wouldn’t be here. She had to sneak away. She picked up her phone and checked the time. It was a little after noon.

  “What about lunch?”

“Austin says there are lots of leftovers. We’ll eat there.” He picked up the second shoe and tossed it. “Tick tock, let’s go.”

She thought about throwing a royal fit, but she knew it wouldn’t work. As she pulled on her shoes she realized going to the ranch would make things easier. She wouldn’t have to meet Aurora anywhere. They would be at the same place. Hawk would be at the stables, and if anyone asked where they were going she could say they were going to the bakery to pick up some cookies, which would be stale by Monday.

Hawk had provided her with the perfect getaway plan, and he didn’t even know it.

“So what’s up with you?” They were in the truck now; he’d started the engine but had not put it in gear.

“What are you talking about?” she asked.

“Your excuse for staying here was writing in your journal.” He patted her thigh. “Yet you left it in the house. Why?”

“Quit playing cop,” she said. “Nothing’s wrong. I just forgot it.” She
reached for the door handle, but before she could open it he grabbed her hand.

“Listen, sweet pea, I don’t think you quite understand the seriousness of what is happening?”

“You mean me wanting to stay at the house instead of going to the ranch? How is that serious?”

“That’s not what I’m talking about, and you know it.”

Oh she knew it. That didn’t mean she was willing to change her life for it.

“If Grant Dobbs is willing to do something to his mother to get control of her money, and I would say that’s what he is doing, then he would do something to cover his tracks. I plan on keeping a close eye on you just so you know.”

“Thank you, Sir, but I don’t think he’s going to do anything. He needs me to take the fall for him. He might try to frame me, but he won’t kill me.”

“So you say.” Hawk’s look was serious. “I don’t share your sentiments, and neither does Nate Willis. We both think Grant would do something bad. Besides, you’re acting out of character. Which means you’re up to something.”

“No I’m not.” She needed to take charge of the situation. Fast. She put her hand between his legs and massaged his cock. “Neither are you. Oh, wait, here it comes.” His dick started to rise under her hand.

“No, I know you’re up to something.”

Jessica took off her seatbelt. She used both her hands to undo the buttons on his jeans, then moaned softly as his cock sprung forth. Before he could chastise her, or tell her to be good, she leaned over and took his cock in her mouth as far as she could.

“Naughty girl,” he said before he groaned out, “Oh fuck, suck it nasty girl.”

She didn’t have to be ordered to suck him. One of her favorite things to do was suck his cock. She put her right hand on the base and tightened it, then lifted her head up and down, meeting her fist each time. Her left hand was caught between her body and the seat, which was bad because she really wanted to play with her clit so she could come, too.

Hawk’s breathing intensified, and he put his hand on the back of her head, which made her want to play with herself even more. She loved it when he was rough. He grabbed a hunk of her hair and said, “Suck it harder, bitch.”

Jessica groaned around his cock. Seconds later he shot off. She swallowed as much as she could, coughing and gagging a little because he kept his hand in her hair, holding her in place. When he let her up she coughed more, and then she laughed.

“Nothing like an impromptu blowjob,” she said. “But you got some on me. I need to go change my shirt.”

“I think we should both change,” he said. “My brothers will notice if I have cum on my jeans.”

They went inside and when they came out, she remembered to pick up her journal, just to confirm her story.

“Can you tell me where we’re going now?” Jessica asked. They’d eaten lunch, then Hawk had accompanied several of his brothers to the stables. Holt went with them, which made things even easier for the women.

Austin had been in the kitchen, but when they tried to leave he’d asked where they were going, and they used their stale cookie excuse. He’d offered to come along, but then his phone had rung and that had distracted him enough so they could get in Holt’s truck and leave. They were almost to Amarillo now, and she was sure Austin realized they’d been gone longer than they should have been. Would he have driven to the bakery and had Natalie, or Lizbeth told him Jessica hadn’t been there?

“We’re going to pick out a dildo,” Aurora said, and Jessica was glad she was not driving, because her body tightened up so much she might have jerked the wheel and lost control.

  “Excuse me?”

Aurora laughed. “It’s a wedding present for Holt.”

“You’re giving him a dildo?” That brought up so many questions. Was it something she hoped Holt would use on her, or the other way around? Truthfully, it wasn’t a question she wanted to ask because she didn’t want to know the answer.

“Well, it’s more than that.” Aurora glanced at her ever so briefly. “You know those machines that you can use to, well, to fuck yourself?”

Jessica put her head in her hands. “This is so surreal. Yes, I know what you’re talking about.”

“My friend Dana knows a carpenter who built one for me. When Dana came up to visit a few weeks ago she took my measurements for him. It’s done and hiding at Dana’s house, but I need to pick out the dildo to go with it. Her carpenter said he thought it would be better if I did. But I didn’t want to go to the adult toy store on my own. I wasn’t sure you’d come if I told you where we’re going.”

“Of course I would,” Jessica said with a laugh. “But I can guarantee you we’re going to be in a world of hurt when our men find out.”

Aurora made to pass an eighteen-wheeler and Jessica wanted to compliment her on her driving. A recent accident had kept Aurora from driving for a while, but Holt had gotten her back behind the wheel. But instead of changing the subject, Jessica decided to keep on the subject of the adult toy store.

“I’ve been in this place before, you know.”

“Have you?” Aurora sounded surprised, and happy about it. “This is a first for me. I’ve never been in any of them. I never really lived until I met Holt.”

Jessica thought about telling her she was sorry for that, but then she thought how she would feel if someone said it to her. It would make her really angry, and something told her it would do the same thing to Aurora. She’d had a hard life, killing her abusive husband and spending time in prison for it, then putting up with her late husband’s asshole of a brother.

The air inside the truck cab had grown heavy; it was time to lighten the mood.

“So, what sort of dildo did this carpenter suggest?”

Aurora giggled. “He said all that was up to me. The—opening—can be adjusted to fit different toys. It’s a bench. There’s a picture of it on my phone if you’d like to see it. My phone is in my purse.

Jessica dug until she found the phone. She then put in the code Aurora gave her. After she found the pictures her eyes widened. It was a bench, one that she envisioned using for many different things.

“Can he make us one?” she asked with a laugh.

  “I can ask,” Aurora said.

“With the bench I can be on my back, or…”

She stopped talking, as if she realized she’d said too much, at least for her.

“You know what I like about it?” Jessica tapped the screen. “You can be on your back, or on all fours, doggy style. That’s my favorite. I think Hawk would love this. When you get a chance text your friend to see about getting another one made.”

“I will,” Aurora said. They were on the outskirts of Amarillo now, and Jessica noticed her friend’s grip on the wheel had tightened.

“Do you know where we’re going? Do you want to pull over and switch drivers?”

“No, I’m okay.” She turned on the blinker. “And yes, I looked it up so I know where we’re going.”

They drove the rest of the way in silence, and when they pulled into the parking lot it was much fuller than Jessica thought it would be. But it was a Saturday afternoon, she reasoned out. People would be buying toys to use for their Saturday evening sexual adventures.

“You ready for this?” Jessica asked Aurora, who had parked the truck but not reached for the door handle, or even taken off her seatbelt.

“I’m not sure,” Aurora said. “It seemed much easier to think about going in when I was looking at pictures online.”

“Most things do,” Jessica said. “But that’s why you tricked me into coming with you, because I’m just the type to march right in there and see what’s what.”

“You got that right!” Aurora took off her seatbelt. “I’m ready.”

  “Then let’s go.”

A big sign at the front door said no pictures allowed, and all transactions were cash only. She pointed it out to Aurora. “You brought cash?”

  “I did.” Auror
a patted her purse. “But their website says there is an ATM inside for those who need to get cash.”

“Good to know, because I don’t have any.” The electronic doors slid open as they neared. They went inside and a second set of doors opened. After they’d passed through the metal detectors, Jessica stopped, mesmerized by what she saw. She and Hawk had been here once, and she’d been more interested in the man standing beside her than the store. They’d bought some nipple clamps, a butterfly vibrator which she wore from time to time while at work, and a bondage kit that he’d yet to open, much to her dismay.

  “It looks different,” she said.

“According to their website they remodeled last month.”

“Can I help you ladies?” a woman behind the counter asked.

“My friend is looking for a dildo to give her husband on their wedding night,” Jessica said.

Snorts of laughter and a “Good for you,” met the announcement.

“Toys are on the far right corner,” the clerk said. “If you have any questions let me know.”

They started in that direction, but Jessica stopped to examine an array of massage oils, flavored ones. “I wonder how much disposable money I have in my account.”

“Check your balance,” Aurora said. “But hurry. I want your help.”

“I’ll do it later,” Jessica said. “Let’s go and see what’s what in the fake fuck me department.”

They started on their way again, and Jessica wondered if they had a Daddy department. What sort of things would they stock? Toys? Puzzles? Videos? Belts for spankings? All of that stuff could be bought in a regular store, although she and Hawk hadn’t done that kind of shopping. They’d just used things from around the house.

Going shopping for things might be fun, though. She had to remember to pose the idea to Hawk, if he was still talking to her after she’d snuck away with Aurora.

  “Wow.”

Jessica almost knocked Aurora down. Her friend had stopped and whispered her amazement at the amount of dildos available for sale.

“I have no idea what to buy,” Aurora said.
