SOAPILEAKS:
This Week’s Hottest News, Gossip, and Reviews!
ALL MY CHILDREN — I Hate My Ex-Soap Star! All My Nixon News!
• Good news: Sources tell UNCENSORED that if Prospect Park doesn’t produce an AMC TV show before September all rights to the show revert back to Agnes Nixon (unfortunately that doesn’t apply to ONE LIFE because Nixon wasn’t savvy enough when she sold her first soap). Nixon, however, does apparently own the movie and international rights to AMC. The latest word is that Prospect Park is urging Nixon to sell them the AMC movie rights, since that’s their latest plan. Which makes sense since Susan Lucci hinted as such on that annoying Italian cooking show on daytime a few weeks back. If I were La Nixon, I would sell the movie rights, but demand the TV rights back, ASAP. Heck, a movie would only help promote a TV re-launch, non? Stay tuned…
• Mark Consuelos is getting work without the help of his wife, Kelly Ripa! The smoldering actor will guest star on HOW I HATE MY TEENAGE daughter, starring former WORLD TURNS star Eric Sheffer Stevens, on March 6 and 13. He’ll plays a Spanish teacher who catches the eye of Annie (Jaime Presley).
THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, CBS/CTV — Amber Alert!
• Oh, it’s on: Amber has a new target and it’s Rick’s flame, Steffy. Oh, let the bitch games begin! Maybe B&B will finally get Adrienne Frantz’s comeback right one day. I’d rather have Amber on Y&R.
• Two more stars will be returning to B&B for its 25th anniversary on March 23. Guess who?
• Jowen fans, rejoice: Owen and Jackie reunite this week… and Owen even refers to the coupling as “Jowen!” #jowenfanswinning Too bad the actors are pretty much goners.
DAYS OF OUR LIVES, NBC/GLOBAL — Nicole pregnant! Daniel returns!
• Donovan, Shane Donovan. THE NANNY’s Charles Shaughnessy will reprise his famous role as ISA agent Shane Donovan with multi-episode arcs, reports THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. He's scheduled to first appear during the May 2 episode when he returns to Salem to investigate a case for the ISA.
• In story 411, on the heels of Nicole learning of EJ and Sami’s grief sex, the former schemer learns she’s preggers! Bad timing… especially for a woman who has trouble carrying a baby to term. “It’s like the best and worst news ever,” says Ari Zucker, who has been tearing up Salem of late with her biting performances. Hey, it’s better than Sami becoming pregnant again! FYI: Zucker is not with child in real life.
• Shawn Christian is back, bitches! The actor, who took a short personal leave, will re-enter Salem on Feb. 27 to tell Nic she’s pregnant. According to DIGEST, Daniel will get a new leading lady!
• John and Marlena, who? How hot was Will’s kiss with Neil? More please! I can’t wait to see the ratings next week.
• That’s James Franzo, not James Franco, playing a mysterious figure trailing Jope.
• How great is Ian Buchanan on DAYS? Awesome great! Next week, Ian exposes Sami as Madison’s mole and refuses to divorce Madison.
GENERAL HOSPITAL, ABC/CITY — The Plot to Save GH!
• Sorry, GH fans: Genie Francis will not be returning as Laura anytime soon. A Y&R mole tells UNCENSORED, “Genie hates GH, and she’s very happy at Y&R. Also, Maria Arena Bell will not let Genie out of her contract — even if GH is canceled. Gen is Maria’s favourite character on the show because she’s based on Maria. Regardless, Genie doesn’t want to go back to GH.” Hey, I can’t say I blame Genie after how ABC has treated the Emmy winner. But Cartini does have a habit of making the impossible possible.
• Multiple Emmy winner Jonathan Jackson booked a role on new ABC soap pilot, NASHVILLE. The ABC Studios-produced pilot is centered around the Nashville music scene and its rising and fading stars. Jackson plays Avery, a sexy bad boy musician and aspiring songwriter. Hey, it probably beats crying on a floor with bloodshot eyes staring at drugs, listening to bad Irish accents, and crying every second. Happy for JJ! BTW: He will win his fourth Emmy this year.
• Which controversial GH recast is being killed off, whisper sources.
• My bad: A month ago, I reported that resident GH photographer and SID mole, Jim Warren, was banned from the ONE LIFE set, and now GH (where he previously had an office), and forever from CBS Studios. Well, an NBC source called me a bit pissed off that I left off his network! He very happily stated that Warren was also banned from NBC for years. OK, then. I hear most GH actors are happy Warren is out because he threatened to sue certain actors (as Scott Baldwin; seriously! I’ve seen the e-mails) and created a hostile environment.
• According to SOAPS IN DEPTH, a major GH star may be competing on DANCING WITH THE STARS next season. With our luck, it will be James Franco. But I hear it’s Jack Wagner. Cue his GH return.
• Cartini sure knows how to trend their soaps. First, Cartini brought ONE LIFE into the zeitgeist during Llanview’s end days when the canceled soap trended worldwide numerous times, and now, GH trended worldwide during Starr Manning’s introduction to Port Chuck. Nicely done. In story 411, Michael saves Starr next week, which will temporarily usher in Todd and Blair.
• Expect more story for the amazing and still-sexy John J. York, report my spies. Like Kristina Wagner did with B.J., York stole the show when Mac learned of Robin’s “death.” Nice work, bud!
• Also, be on the look out for more veteran comebacks!
• Make sure you purchase SOAP OPERA DIGEST for a kick-ass GH preview with executive producer Frank Valentini. As for surprise fan fave Jen Lilley staying on Maxie for the foreseeable future, he raves, “All I will say about that is that I think both actresses are phenomenal and we are very fortunate to have Jen Lilley for right now. She is an amazing woman and I am quite impressed with her.” Hey, she’s in the future Oscar winning picture THE ARTIST, after all. Suck on that, Franco!
ONE LIFE TO LIVE — Saddest Goodbye Ever!
•I VILLAGE ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS were handed out and readers voted ONE LIFE’s finale saddest TV farewell. Well, duh! Second place went to AMC. Llanview beat out Oprah Winfrey, Regis Philbin, and TODAY’s Meredith Vieira. What does this prove? It cements the fact that soaps do have an audience… and a voice, naysayers!
•In Michael Musto’s VILLAGE VOICE column, the veteran journalist quoted WGA Lifetime Achievement winner Claire Labine, who penned ONE LIFE, GH, and created iconic RYAN’s HOPE.
'I am in mourning," she admitted in her speech. "Yes, some of the shows had gotten silly. Yes, some of the budgets had gotten
