Her Greatest Mistake Page 25

by Eve L Mitchell

  “Aiden, I can’t…” I panted.

His fingers replaced his tongue as he stood swiftly, and then he was at my entrance, pushing inside. His mouth was on mine, smothering my cries as he thrust in, and I exploded around him. I could taste myself on him, and I didn’t care as I climbed his body, urging more of him inside me as I clawed at his shirt. Jesus Christ, he felt so good.

“You missed this, baby, you missed me fucking you?” Aiden whispered harshly in my ear.

“Yes.” I tightened my legs around him.

He slammed my back into the wall as he picked up speed. “You’re mine, Jemma, no one fucking touches what’s mine.” He pulled my hair, forcing my head back. “Do you understand me?” His look was dark, his eyes heavy with lust as he glared at me. My body was on fire, and I couldn’t think straight, but a part of my brain still recognised his anger. “I said, do you understand me?”

  “Yes.” I tried to nod.

Aiden picked up his pace as his fingers dug into my ass. “You ever fucking tell me again that there’s a man in your apartment and you slept with him, I’ll fucking kill him.”

My eyes widened in alarm. “Nothing happened!”

  “I don’t fucking care.”

His kiss was bruising, and his tongue duelled with mine as I felt another orgasm approach. I cried out, and Aiden quickly covered my mouth as he continued to drive into me. Minutes later, he was biting into my shoulder to cut off his own cry with his hand over my mouth again to stop my moans from escaping. We stayed still for a few moments, getting our breath back. My legs loosened slightly from around his waist, and I felt his fingers unclench from my ass. He dropped my legs, and I stumbled slightly as I regained my footing. Aiden tucked himself back in his pants and straightened his clothes. He watched me the whole time. I was numb. I looked at my pants lying on the floor of the cupboard, covered in white dust. I couldn’t see where my panties were, and after searching, I only found my shoe. Looking at my blouse, I noticed a tear where he had gripped the material as he held me against him. When I looked up, Aiden smiled at me with no humour.

Reaching over, he clasped the back of my neck and pulled me towards him. “Don’t make me have to do this again.” In contrast to his harsh words, his lips were soft as he kissed me gently. “You need to get dressed.”

  “My clothes are ruined.”

“Figure it out.” Aiden turned to the door and put his hand on the handle. “Consider this your punishment for the shit you pulled this weekend. You have five minutes.”

He walked out leaving me standing there half undressed and frozen at his behaviour. I heard him walk away, and then I heard him call out to someone. His voice moved me into action as I realised he hadn’t been a complete bastard but was drawing people away from the closet. Dressing hastily, I grieved the loss of my panties as I put my shoe on. Running a hand over my ponytail, I tightened it but had no idea if it looked okay. Hell, I had no idea if I looked okay. I knew I wouldn’t. How the hell did I sneak out of here and then into a bathroom? Opening the closet door, I peeked out. Hurriedly I darted over the floor to the elevator and thanked heaven and all its angels when it opened immediately.

I pushed floor five, where I knew the bathrooms were immediately to the left of the elevator, and I held my breath as I passed floor six. With a harried wave to the receptionist, I dashed into the bathroom.

Oh my lord, what had he done to me? My ponytail was so askew it looked like an eighties side ponytail. I had five red marks on my neck where his hand had been as he held me against the wall as he had moved inside me. I noticed I had a tear on my shoulder where he had obviously bitten through the material as he had finished inside. My pants were a lost cause for a quick fix. I would need to soak them completely to get them clean. Did he step on them? I couldn’t even stand here and clean them because I had no panties on.

I locked myself in a stall and took my clothes off hastily. I had taken a handful of paper towels in with me, some wet and some dry, and I set about cleaning myself. Putting the lid down, I covered it in toilet paper and then sat and looked at my pants. What the hell was I going to do with them? Standing, I realised my top just passed my ass. Could I stand at the sink and clean them? No. The thought was humiliating. I put my pants back on, and then I made my way to a sink. I painstakingly set about dusting them off and dabbing them with paper towels.

After some time, I eventually decided they were clean enough. Now I needed an excuse as to where I had been. Ben wouldn’t cover for me because he wouldn’t know he had to. I undid my ponytail and redid it. The marks were fading on my neck.

My shoulders slumped in defeat. He had gotten what he wanted. He wanted me to know I was his, and the way he had left me, there was no disguising I had been with someone. I rubbed my forehead and jumped when the door to the bathrooms opened. Aiden stood there with a smirk on his face, and I looked around for something to throw at the bastard.

“What do you want?” I asked tersely.

“You want to go for lunch? I spoke to Richard.”

I gaped at him. “I look like a mess.”

“You look like someone just fucked your brains out.” He smiled as he stood back to let a woman enter the bathroom.

My eyes widened in horror as he stood there at ease. “Shut up!” I hissed.

He pulled my coat and purse from behind his back. “Want them?”

I raced forward and went to grab them, but the smug asshole held them behind his back again. He leaned down, his lips millimetres from my own. “Tell me you’ve missed me.”

“I’ve missed you,” I said with an eye roll.

“Jemma.” Aiden shook his head slightly.

“Fine. I did miss you,” I bit out. His lips grazed mine as he handed me my coat. “I missed you right up until this morning when you reminded me what a complete dick you are,” I snapped as I pulled my coat on.

“But who else makes you scream like I do when you’re riding my dick?” The smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth.

I heard the gasp from the stall closest to us. Seriously? She took the stall nearest to us! Nosey old bat. “It’s not all about sex!” I grumbled as I barged past him.

Aiden caught my hand and pulled me back into his chest. “No, it’s not, but it helps.” His kiss on my neck was chaste.

  “I hate you.”

“Keep lying to yourself, Jem.” Aiden took my hand and pressed for the elevator.

“You don’t even care,” I realised as I looked at him.

He looked at me, and I faltered when I saw the emotion in his eyes. “I care.” His hold on my hand tightened. “I care when my woman is being a petulant little girl and acting out.” His smile was all teeth. “I care when my woman is spending time with another man and not me.” He turned to face the elevator doors as we got to the ground floor. “I care when my woman tells me in a text message she slept with her neighbour.”

“Oh my God, you’re not innocent in this, Aiden.”

“No, but you never gave me the chance to explain.”

  “Then explain now.”

He spun me so I was in his arms in the middle of the street. “I plan to, Jem.” His head dropped, and he kissed me like he could consume me. “I have a car waiting.” He led me down the block, and he held the door open.

“Where are we going?” I asked as I glanced over my shoulder.

“Your apartment, I thought you may want to get changed.”

He gave me whiplash sometimes. One minute a cold bastard, the next a thoughtful man. “Oh, thank you.” I climbed into the car. We rode to my apartment in silence while Aiden traced patterns on my skin, and my head was too jumbled to think straight. When we got there, he got out with me, and with his hand on the small of my back, we climbed the stairs. Just before we got to my floor, I looked at him. “We’ll talk, no more desperate angry sex?”

“I make no promises.” Aiden’s smile was cocky.

As we passed Steve and Tyler’s door, Aiden hooked my arm and pulled me
to a stop. “Wait.” He knocked the door.

“What are you doing?” I asked in alarm as I tried to pull away. He held me tight. “Aiden!” I yanked on his arm. Aiden knocked the door again and waited, ignoring me. “Aiden, please.”

He looked at me, and he smiled at me. “This won’t take long.” He kissed the top of my head.

The door opened, and Tyler looked at me and then Aiden in confusion. It was obvious he had been sleeping as he was in a sleep shirt and boxers. “Jemma?”

Aiden tossed something at him, and Tyler caught it easily. I could have died when I realised it was my panties. “These are the only thing you and your roommate get of her.” Aiden looked Tyler over. “No more fucking sleepovers, understand me?”

Tyler looked as shocked as I felt, but he was quicker to recover than me. “You okay, Jemma? Do you need help?”

“I’m…I’m so sorry, Tyler,” I stuttered.

“Jemma, do you need help?” Tyler asked me again, and I realised he was using his police training on me.

“I’m okay.” I nodded. I wasn’t. I was livid, but that wasn’t for Tyler to fix.

“She’s fine.” Aiden turned me into him, and his head dipped into my neck. “Aren’t you, baby?”

“I swear I’m going to kill you when we get inside.” I jerked my head away from him.

  “See?” Aiden looked at Tyler.

“I see.” Tyler nodded as he watched me, and I tried to not look at him holding my panties.

Aiden let my arm go and walked confidently to my door. “Babe.”

I frowned at Tyler and mouthed “sorry” as I went over to my door. If I left Aiden out here for any longer, Christ knows what he would do. I pushed open my door and rushed inside.

“Oh and, officer,” Aiden called out as he followed me, “when you hear her screaming tonight, we don’t need you to come over.”

Tyler’s door slammed shut, and with a smug smile, Aiden closed mine.

  “Get out,” I seethed.

Aiden walked past me and headed to the bathroom. I heard him start the shower. I was so angry I couldn’t move. When he started whistling, I ran to the bathroom. My hands came up, and I started hitting him. “Get out! Get out! Get out!”

Aiden caught my hands and jerked me up against him. “Stop it.”

“What the fuck is wrong with you!” I demanded.

“I told you, you’re mine, and the cop and his gym bunny buddy needed to get the memo.”

“It’s not like that! They’re my friends,” I shouted at him. “I’m not yours! I’m not a fucking possession.”

Aiden pressed his lips to mine, and I shoved at him. I didn’t want his kisses. But he only deepened the kiss, and soon my hands were in his hair as I kissed him back. The kiss was messy, all teeth and tongue and biting, and dear God help me if I didn’t want more. Aiden’s hands trailed under my coat and over my breasts. He pinched a nipple, and I arched. He kissed me like I was the only thing that could give him breath. My coat was ripped off me and tossed aside, my top was pulled roughly over my head, and he pushed my pants down. Picking me up, he put me on the counter by the sink as he slid inside me in one smooth motion, and I cried out as he drove into me. I ripped his shirt off him, the buttons flying everywhere as I tore at his flesh, my nails leaving marks. Aiden pulled out and flipped me so I was bent over the counter as he rammed back inside me. His hand wound around my ponytail, and he pulled my head back.

“Watch me fuck you, Jem,” he whispered in my ear. “Watch how you come for me, only for me.”

I looked at us both in the fogged-up mirror, and I didn’t recognise myself. I looked wanton, I looked crazed, I looked alive.

“This is how I know you’re mine. Look at you, you’re fucking perfect.” His hips never stopped moving, and his hold on my hair never lessened. I could feel the edge coming, and I groaned in defeat. The heat in the bathroom from the shower was making me worse. “Stop lying to yourself, Jemma. This right here, with me, is who you are.” His hand reached under me and rubbed me quickly, and soon I was screaming his name as I shattered around him. Aiden pulled me up by my ponytail as he moved faster, and then he let out a loud roar as he finished before he collapsed on my back.

He staggered backward and took me with him as the two of us fell to a heap on the bathroom floor. I couldn’t stop the racing of my heart. I couldn’t catch my breath, and as I looked over at Aiden, I was somewhat gratified to see he was the same.

  “You’re still a dick.”

  He started to laugh.

“When I can move, I’m getting a shower, and then we’re having a very frank and open conversation,” I warned.

He reached out and found my hand and brought it to his lips. “Okay.”

  “I mean it.”

  “I don’t doubt you.”

  “And you’ll apologise to Tyler.”

“I might…I was wrong about him.”

I looked over at him. He was lying on his back, eyes closed and a smile on his face. “What do you mean?”

“Well, he wasn’t getting hard from holding your damp panties, babe, sorry.” He kissed my hand again.

“Ew, Aiden!” If I had energy, I would have smacked him.

“What can I say, I’m irresistible.”

  “You’re such a pig.”

“And you love it.” His grin widened as he lay there with his eyes closed.

I groaned out loud because I really had no argument. I was screwed. Literally and figuratively. Aiden’s laughter echoed in my bathroom as I lay there beside him and silently accepted that he was right.

He showered with me, which meant I needed another shower when he was done. I stayed under the spray as Aiden dried himself. “You want a drink?” he asked me as he wrapped a towel around himself.

  “Coffee.”

“Okay.” He closed the door behind him, and I sagged against the wall.

Good lord, what had happened? I went from all righteous anger and avoidance to panting sex maniac within moments. It wasn’t even sign posted, I just simply flipped into Jemma the Nympho as soon as he touched me. After rinsing my hair, I got out of the shower. As I dried and then pulled on my bathrobe, I listened to the sounds of him moving about in the apartment. As I entered the kitchen, I stopped and watched him. His back was to me, and he stood there in his boxer briefs, staring out the window as he drank a coffee. My eyes ran over his back, and I ached to touch him again.

“How long are you going to stare for?”

“Until I get tired of looking,” I answered flippantly. Aiden turned to me, and I drank in the sight of him. “You’re too good looking for your own good,” I muttered as I headed to the coffee pot. His arms wrapped around me as I poured my coffee, and I eventually leaned back into him as his head propped on my shoulder. “I’m still angry with you.”

“I’m still fucking furious at you, so…let’s call it even.” I could feel him shrug.

“Can we talk now?” I opted to ignore the fact he was furious; he couldn’t be that mad. Could he?

His arms dropped, and he reached for his coffee mug. “Yes, Jemma, we can talk.” He walked over to the couch and sat down.

I took my coffee and sat in the chair and avoided acknowledging his knowing smirk at my obvious attempt to keep distance between us. “Why didn’t you answer me for three weeks?”

“I can’t tell you.” He took a drink of his coffee. “Well, that’s not true, I can tell you that the first week I was so fucking furious with you I didn’t trust myself to talk to you.” He looked at me unapologetically. “The rest of the time…I was busy.”

Busy? He was busy? “You were busy?” I knew my voice was betraying me as I tried to keep my expression neutral.

Aiden smirked as he leaned back on the couch. “Yes, Jemma. I was busy.”

“And you won’t tell me?” I pressed.

  “No.”

  “Was it work related?”

“Jemma…don’t.” Aiden sat on the couch with just his underwear on
and hair drying from the shower. He was almost naked, the marks on his body from our earlier sex “session” were clearly visible. However, you would think he was sitting in a boardroom, fully suited and booted instead of the state of undress that he was in. I envied his confidence. Or arrogance. It was a thin line with Aiden.

I took a deep breath as I looked away from him. “Were you alone?” I asked quietly.

“What are you asking me, Jem?”

“I think it’s simple.” I looked at him as I braced myself internally. “Were you with someone?”

  “I was alone.”

  “Kat?”

“She was here, I’ve never lied to you about the relationship with her.” Aiden took a drink of his coffee.

“Have you been with anyone else?”

“I don’t like what you’re implying, Jem,” Aiden said as he put his cup down.

“I don’t like the fact you could have slept with someone else while you were busy and then immediately sleep with me without protection.” I felt stupid for raising this now, but seriously, how much more reckless could I be with this man? He had been gone three weeks, and I had let him inside me with no condom as soon as I saw him.

“Are you asking me if I fucked someone else?”

“In a less crass way.” I met his heated look dead on. “Yes.”

  “Have you?”

“No!” I took a deep breath to calm my emotions as I closed my eyes. “I already told you this.”

“I’m not the one who had men in my apartment.”

  “Aren’t you?” I snapped.

“I definitely had no men sleeping over.” Aiden’s smirk made me want to physically harm him.

After this afternoon’s encounter, Tyler may actually help me dispose of his body…

“You know what I mean.” My jaw clenched to stop the scream from erupting.

“Be careful, babe, your jealousy is showing.”

“Answer the goddamn question, you insufferable prick!” I cried, my composure fading rapidly.
