His eyes hold mine.
I rub my hand up his thigh. “You know I’m not like that. I’ve never cheated on anyone in my entire life.”
He exhales heavily. “I just….” His voice trails off.
“You just what?”
“I just know how beautiful you are.” He brushes the hair back from my forehead. “Any man would give his left nut to sleep with you.”
I smile softly.
“It’s true, Eliza.”
“Would you give your left nut to sleep with me?”
“Both nuts.” He turns the page of his book again. “I’m pretty sure you carry them around in your purse now, anyway.” He shakes his head. “I’m fucking doomed.”
I giggle and reach over to take his book off him and throw it onto the floor.
I sit up and pull my silk nightdress over my shoulders. Nathan’s eyes drop to my bare breasts. He runs his tongue over his bottom lip, distracted.
I’m not playing fair. I win all the fights when I get my boobs out. He’s got no defense.
He’s besotted with them now.
“So, here’s the thing,” I whisper as I bend and kiss his lower stomach. I trail my tongue over his hipbone and see his cock twitch in his boxer shorts. “You have me, naked and at your disposal.”
He smirks as he watches me.
“Are we really going to spend the week fighting about stupid Henry Morgan?”
I slide his boxers down and kiss his penis. He flexes it in approval and it bounces up.
“Or are we going to spend the week having fun?” I take his tip in my mouth and swirl my tongue around it as my eyes hold his. “Spend the week having fun.”
His hand cups my face, and he tenderly dusts his thumb over my bottom lip. I turn my head and take his thumb in my mouth. I give it a slow, seductive suck. He watches on as his eyes darken. He sits up suddenly, takes my nipple into his mouth and sucks it hard. Pleasure shoots through me in waves, and he flips me onto my back and lifts my legs over his shoulders, causing me to laugh out loud.
Yessss.
“I’ll take option two.” He growls.

It’s Wednesday at work, and I’m scrolling through my emails as I tidy up my junk folder. I notice that I have an email from the employment agency from when I was looking for my job. It’s a notification of a new role for a paediatric nurse—exactly what I love doing.
I read through the job description and feel a little sad, to be honest. I don’t know if I’m really cut out to work in plastics. I mean it’s a nice job here that I’ve got, but it’s an office job. I miss nursing. It just seems so superficial compared to the meaningful work that I’m used to. I miss that buzz of helping people and making a difference. If I’m going to work in an office, maybe I should just accept Nathan’s offer and go and work for him.
But then he wins. I can’t give in to him after our first fight and let him think he can tell me what to do. I need to set a precedent for how he treats me. I’m not putting up with him thinking he’s the boss of me. If I give in now, I’ll pay for it for forever.
I need to stick with this, and if I do want to leave in a few months, I will, but on my terms and when the time is right.
But these positions don’t come up for months after they are advertised, anyway. By then, if I’m successful, I will have a good idea of what I want to do.
I mean, even if I got it, I don’t have to take it. I can always decline the offer, I think for a moment. Yeah, sounds like a plan. I click on the apply button for the job. The agency has all my details. If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.

I sip my wine as I dance through the kitchen. It’s Thursday night. I walk back out into the living room and stare at our new rug with the hugest goofiest smile plastered on my face.
I can’t stop looking at it. I move a chair so I can see it a little more, and then I move it back. I stand and look at it from one angle, and then go to the other side of the room to look at it some more. I take another photo of it and stare at it on my phone. I’ve been doing this for an hour. I just love it. It really sets the mood and changes the entire feel of the place.
It’s massive with beautiful hues of green and pink. It cost a bomb and got delivered today and I am loving myself absolutely sick.
I adore this apartment already. It’s beautiful and feels so special.
Our first real home.
Picking furniture and art for it together with Nathan to make it ours is my new obsession. I’ve been stalking Pinterest all week.
I text Nathan again.
Hurry up
A text bounces back.
Jesus, woman. I’m on my way.
Surely a rug can’t be this exciting?
I’ve texted him three times since it arrived already. I text back.
You’re wrong.
This is the rug of my life.
HTF UP!
I continue to cook dinner, and twenty minutes later, I hear the key in the door before Nathan comes into view.
I skip across the kitchen to get to him and throw myself into his arms. “Oh my God, wait till you see it,” I gush.
He chuckles as he holds me in his arms. “For God’s sake, show me.”
I lead him out and hold my hands up toward the monumental rug of my life. “Tada.” I smile.
“Ah.” He nods as he looks at it, hands on hips. “Looks good.”
“I know.” I beam. “Isn’t it amazing? I think the green arm chair is now a definite yes, and we’ll get the ottoman, too, and put it over here by the window for you to read in. What do you think?”
He smiles as his eyes linger on me.
“What?” I shrug, slightly embarrassed by my over the top excitement.
“Nothing,” he takes me into his arms and kisses me tenderly. “I missed you today.”
I smile up at him as I run my fingers through his dark stubble. “I’m so happy, Nathe.”
“I know, baby. Me, too.” He kisses me again and we stand in each other’s arms for an extended time, holding each other, unable to part. The days are long without him. “I can’t wait to get this rug dirty tonight,” he mutters against my hair.
My eyes widen in horror and I pull out of his arms. “We are not having sex on this rug… . like ever.”
His eyes dance with delight, and he unzips his trousers as if I just issued him with the ultimate dare.
“Nathan, no,” I warn as I step back from him. “Getting semen on this rug is a huge trigger for me.”
“Not getting semen on this rug is a trigger for me.” He pulls his dick out and crash-tackles me onto the couch. I laugh out loud and try to escape his clutches.
Life is good. Really good.

“The car will be here in ten, babe!” Nathan calls from the kitchen. I hear the pop of a champagne cork.
“Okay, nearly ready!” I call back as I put my earrings on. It’s Saturday night, and Nathan and I have a charity ball to attend. We seem to go to so many lately.
They are fun, but I would really rather stay home tonight. I take one last look at myself in the mirror. I’m wearing a white, fitted, strapless dress. My long, dark hair is down and bouncy, and I have a fancy rhinestone clip pushing it back on one side. I fluff it up at the bottom. I wish I could do my hair this good. I spent the afternoon in the salon. I’m wearing silver stilettos and holding a matching clutch. Underneath, I have on Nathan’s corset and suspender belt that he bought me. It will be a nice surprise for him later.
An idea comes to mind and I smile. I should give him a little taste now. Actually, yes. I’ve got ten minutes.
I quickly wriggle out of my dress and have a quick look in the mirror to look at the white corset and matching panties with a suspender belt, and the thigh-high, sheer white stockings. I pick up my clutch and smile broadly as I walk out into the kitchen in the sex kitten get up. “Ready,” I reply casually.
He holds his champagne glass mid-air and blinks.
Yes, you are.” He purrs as he puts his drink down so fast that it sloshes over the sides. “Ready to be fucked.” His hands go to my behind, and he bends his knees to put his dick right between my legs as he sucks on my neck. “Hmm, for once I got the shopping right,” he whispers against my skin as he sits me up onto the kitchen counter and pulls my panties to the side. “This is going to get you into trouble.”
I smile as I watch him drop between my legs as he spreads them wide. He closes his eyes as his thick tongue sweeps through my sex. I inhale deeply as I watch on. God. What a visual.
Nathan on his knees in a black dinner suit, licking me up like I’m his last supper.
His dark eyes hold mine, and he turns his head and kisses my inner thigh. He slides three thick fingers deep into my sex, and my back arches. He begins to move them quick and rough over my g-spot as his lips take mine.
He works me hard, and I moan in pleasure.
The man has the ability to make me come in approximately sixty seconds.
“Wait,” I moan against his lips. “When we get home, baby,” I breathe against his lips. “Good things come to those who wait.”
“And good men come in your mouth.” He bites my bottom lip and stretches it out, his dark eyes hold mine and the air crackles between us. He has that look in his eyes and I know I’m going to get it hard tonight. Excitement flutters in my stomach. I love that look.
The door buzzer sounds, and he licks his lips as he looks at me. “Saved by the bell.” He bends and licks me once more, as if unable to help it, and then he pulls my panties back and lifts me off the counter.
“Put your dress on.”
He turns me toward the bedroom and smacks my behind hard. I yelp.
“And stop making me hard before I go out.”
“Yes, dear.” I smile as I walk into the bedroom. I put my dress on and catch sight of myself in the mirror. My face is flushed and aroused. I smile broadly.
Nathan Mercer, you are a bad man.

We walk into the ballroom half an hour later. It’s beautiful and grand. Although I can’t really appreciate the splendor because I’m too aroused.
Nathan had his hand up my dress the entire car ride here. He wouldn’t let me come. He’d get me to the edge and pull back, again and again.
Payback, he called it. I call it torture. That will teach me to prick tease. It was an epic fail because I just prick teased myself. It’s me who’s about to come with the change of the wind…not him.
How am I going to get through the night without humping him on the dancefloor?
I feel a dull ache in my vagina as he leads me to our table.
“Hello.” We arrive and take our seats. “I’m Nathan and this is Eliza, my girlfriend.” He introduces us and we smile and shake hands with our table buddies. Nathan’s hand goes to mine in my lap, and he takes it in his.
Eliza, my girlfriend.
That’s the first time he’s ever said that out loud. It sounds good. I like it. Love it, actually.
“Do you want a drink, darling?” he asks.
“Yes, please. Bubbles.”
“Okay.” He smiles mischievously and puts his mouth to my ear. “Would you like to go to the bathroom with me?”
“Don’t tempt me,” I whisper back. “I’m not even joking, Nathan, I’m aching.”
“Good.” He chuckles and kisses me quickly. “Back in a minute. Ache away.”
I watch him disappear to the bar. He’s so handsome in his black dinner suit. People greet him, and he shakes hands with people he sees along the way.
I smile proudly. He’s so well respected in the industry. Another older couple come to find their place at our table.
“Oh, Eliza.” The lady smiles. “Hello, again, my dear.”
“Nadia.” I smile as I kiss her cheek. “How are you?”
Nadia’s husband Peter is an oncologist in the children’s floor where I used to work. I know them well.
“Hello, Eliza.” Peter kisses my cheek. “We miss you on the children’s floor.”
My heart drops. “I miss it, too. You never know what the future may hold.” I wink.
I glance over to the bar and see Nathan talking to that pretty woman I saw him talking to in the hospital last week. She’s laughing, all animated, and he smiles back at her. My eyes roam up and down her body. She’s beautiful with a figure to die for. Dark hair and olive skin. She says something as she rubs his upper arm, and the hairs on the back of my neck rise. Don’t touch him.
I sip my glass of water as I watch the two of them. He seems very comfortable with her. When did I become such a green-eyed monster?
“Tell me about your new job?” Peter interrupts my thoughts.
“It’s great,” I lie. “I’m working for a plastic surgeon as the office manager. Just needed a break from nursing for a little while; I’ll be back soon. I’m missing it too much.”
“Good to hear. A change is as good as a holiday, or so I hear.”
Nathan falls back into the seat beside me. “Peter, Nadia.” He smiles as he kisses her cheek and shakes his hand. “How are you both?”
They fall into conversation as Nathan’s hand slides under the table to hold mine on my lap. I sip my champagne and smile as my world returns to normal again.
Dr. Dreamy is here, and I am his faithful patient.
Nathan smiles as he holds me on the dancefloor. We’ve had a wonderful night, with great company.
“Can we go home now?” he murmurs into my ear.
“I thought you’d never ask.” I kiss him softly. “I’m going to the bathroom before we go.”
“Okay, I’ll meet you back at the table.” He kisses my cheek, and I weave my way through the tables, out into the lobby. There’s a bathroom attendant, and she opens the heavy door for me.
Wow, it’s all marble in here with large palms in matching plant pots.
I go to the bathroom and come out and wash my hands. I reapply my lipstick, and the attractive, dark-haired woman in the red dress comes out of one of the cubicles—the one who was talking to Nathan.
“Hello.” She smiles when she sees me. She washes and dries her hands. She definitely is friendly enough.
“Hi.” I smile.
“It’s a beautiful turn out, isn’t it?”
“It is.”
“I love your dress. It’s Eliza, isn’t it?”
“Yes, thanks.” I smile as I roll my lipstick together on my lips. “I’m sorry, I’m terribly rude. I know we’ve met before, but I can’t recall your name.”
“Oh.” She holds her hand out to shake mine. “I’m Stephanie.”
I stare at her as my brain misfires.
What?
But he knows that Stephanie from the gym, not work.
“You go to the gym with Nathan?” I ask as a test.
“Yes.” She smiles warmly. “We work together, too. I’m a cardiovascular surgeon. We operate at the same hospitals.”
“Ah.” I fake a smile. “How wonderful.”
I stare at her beautiful face as the sky turns red. I begin to hear my furious heartbeat in my ears.
This is Stephanie?
A woman that he is friends with. A woman he works with. A beautiful woman that he trusts and knows well is who he went to… over me.
I get an image of the two of them together, kissing—her on her knees, drinking him down.
“Goodbye,” I force out.
“Lovely to see you.”
I fake a smile and storm back to the table. Nathan catches my eye, and I glare at him as I fall into my seat.
His brow furrows and he puts his hand on my thigh. “Everything all right, sweetheart?”
I flick his hand away. “Don’t touch me,” I whisper angrily.
“What?” He frowns.
“I just met Stephanie.”
His eyes widen.
I push my chair out. “I’m leaving.”

Eliza
“Goodbye.” I
smile at the people around our table. “Lovely to meet you all.”
“Goodbye,” the table sings.
I fake a smile and storm toward the entrance.
I can’t believe this, I am fucking livid.
Nathan quickly shakes hands with his associates around the table—his manners not letting him leave without doing so first. I march out to the undercover entrance, and I walk straight up to a taxi and get into the back seat.
“Eliza!” Nathan calls as he runs after me. “Wait.”
“Smith Street,” I say to the driver as I slam the door behind me.
Nathan runs up and opens the back door and dives in beside me. “What are you doing?” he hisses.
I cross my arms and glare out of the window. I am not having this argument in front of a cab driver.
Nathan puts his hand on my lap and I flick it off. “Don’t you fucking dare touch me,” I growl.
He clenches his jaw and sits silently. I already know that he’s preparing his speech. The car pulls up out the front of our apartment. “Thank you,” I say as I open the door and get out. I march into the building as Nathan pays our fare. He shuffles through his wallet and throws cash at him, not waiting for the change.
I force a smile at the doorman as he opens the door for me, and I march past and hit the elevator button with force.
Nathan rushes in.
“Good evening, Mr. Mercer. Nice night.” The doorman smiles.
“Is it?” Nathan mutters as he dives into the elevator beside me.
I clutch my purse and glare straight ahead.
Nathan stands tentatively beside me, as if I’m a wild animal he doesn’t know how to control.
I cannot believe…. I cannot fucking believe that he would have the audacity to stand and talk to her in front of me, knowing full well that I had no idea who she was. What were they talking about? How hard he came down her throat?
