Well This Sucks Page 20

“I don’t think I can,” he replied before grabbing the hem of my shirt and pulling it over my head. My skin broke out in goose bumps the moment the air hit it. He was sitting on my couch as I straddled him, grinding harder and harder as we fucked with our tongues. My lips found his strong jaw. His neck. The vein thudding so deliciously there. His fingers dug into my hips as I licked his skin.

“I owe you,” Diego whispered before picking me up and slamming me onto the couch. I bounced a bit, but his strong arms held me down. One second, I was wearing pants, the next, his super speed stripped me bare. Thank suck I shaved today.

“Look how beautiful this pussy is,” he whispered. “So wet.” Diego placed his head between my thighs and breathed me in. “So sweet.” He licked up my slit in a single teasing move. “So perfect.”

I threaded my fingers in his hair while slamming my head into the couch cushions and arching my back. Diego pried my legs further apart and pinned them down with his impossible strength. “Scream my name when you come, gorgeous. I like it when you’re loud.”

Diego found my clit intently. He didn’t need a map. He didn’t need me to wiggle and direct like an air traffic controller. It was like I had a target and he hit the bullseye. He moved in circles around my needy nub. The course stubble lining his jaw rubbed against me, adding a raw level of power and heat to the experience. I grinded against him as his skilled mouth worked me over.

  “Fuck,” I cried out.

“Say my name, Drew,” he commanded. I’d say whatever the suck he wanted if it meant he didn’t stop.

“Diego,” I said. “Oh yes, Diego.”

He chuckled against my pussy, amused at how hot and needy I sounded. “I love hearing how much you want me,” he said before continuing. His mouth was hot and perfect. I was so wet that I knew his chin was coated with my arousal.

Faster and faster he worked until I was riding the high of a sharp orgasm. It was like a collision. The impact of it made my legs shake and every muscle in my body contract. “Diego!” I cried out.

“That’s right, gorgeous. Come for your king.”

He made me come three more times with his mouth before Netflix asked if we were still watching.

  Drew

Orgasms and my dusty rose power suit always put me in a good mood. Pairing the skirt and blazer with a cream blouse and a killer set of heels made me feel like a badass. I gathered my folders and the presentation I had been working on the last week and placed everything carefully into my laptop bag. I double-checked my lineup of prototype toys ready for demonstrations, and everything looked perfect. I was ready to slay this presentation.

  I hoped they liked it.

I’d been staying at the coven for two days and working from the office Diego set up for me. Although Lacey had been very supportive of whatever excuse the vampire forget team had coordinated, I still had to go into work today and update everyone on what I’d come up with for the Out of This World marketing plan. I hoped they liked the new products I wanted to add, too. Lacey always let me speak up about ideas I had. Not only was I good at pushing a product, I was also good at coming up with them. This new launch could really propel my career.

Rocky was sitting outside the door, waiting for me when I opened it. “I’m assuming there’s no way I could bribe you to stay home, hmm?” I asked while leaning against the doorframe. “I’m not particularly in the mood for a bodyguard today, and I’m pretty sure everyone will wonder why a broody bald dude is following me around.”

Rocky grunted in response. I guess that’s a no.

“Okay, that’s cool too. I’ll tell them you’re going to be modeling for one of our newest products. Let’s go.” Rocky just rolled his eyes and stood up without responding. In the past, that would have gotten a much bigger response. He must be warming up to me.

I was too excited to get back in the office to let Rocky’s grumpy ass bring me down. I was wearing my head-bitch-in-charge suit, and I was going to crush this meeting with my new paranormal line of toys. Plus, I was still in a good mood from my orgasm fest with Diego. We never took things past third base, but I still scored. I was winning. Nothing could bring me down.

I could already hear Lacey singing my praises. “Employee of the year? Most talented you’ve ever seen? Oh Lacey, stop. You’re too kind.”

  “What?” Rocky asked, eyebrow raised.

“Huh, what?” I said, snapping out of my daydream. I cleared my throat. “If you’re going to be my escort, can you be my muscle as well?” I asked, pointing to a large box sitting by my front door.

Rocky shrugged and picked up the box. I hadn’t bothered to seal it, so Rocky got an eyeful of the contents and promptly dropped it, spilling smooth black vibrators with leather handles, dildos with black lace patterns, and nipple clamps all over the floor.

  “Oh shit,” Rocky exclaimed.

I snickered as I watched him scramble to pick up the toys, stuffing them back in the box as quickly as he could. “What do you think of the new product line?”

“Uh, good. I mean they look fine. Umm, very gothic?” Rocky stammered.

“I have a matte black butt plug for you in there,” I replied with a smirk. Rocky blushed.

  “No, thank you,” he replied.

I pressed my hand to my chest. “Did you just use polite words with me?” I asked. My shock was about fifty percent genuine and fifty percent sarcasm.

Rocky rubbed the back of his neck while staring at the wall. “I kind of owe you,” he mumbled begrudgingly.

I stopped strutting down the hall. “Huh? Care to clarify, big guy?”

“I’ve been promoted. Since you’re unofficially the future queen, I’m now one of the highest-ranking guards in the coven. I was Diego’s muscle for a while, but this is a high honor. I eventually will lead an entire team to protect you. My pay is enough for my grandmother to come here from Romania for Christmas. You might be a pain in the ass, and I don’t understand you most of the time, but as much as I hate to admit it, I’m actually pretty glad you lied to me that first day.”

Aw, Rocky. “Well, don’t start being nice to me or anything crazy. I like you better when you’re broody.”

Rocky chuckled. “Sure thing. Let’s go to the car and get this over with. No funny business.”

“No funny business, pinky promise,” I told him, holding my pinky finger up in the air.

“I’m not doing that,” Rocky said flatly and walked toward the elevator.

Rocky let me practice my presentation on him during the drive over to my office building, or at least he did when I would start over every time he interrupted me. He was visibly uncomfortable with the topic matter and looked relieved when we pulled up to the impressive glass building. He leapt out of the car when it came to a stop and ran around to open my door.

“On our way home, we are going to talk about why female pleasure makes you so uncomfortable,” I said, stepping out of the car.

Rocky followed me inside and into the elevator. When we got out on the floor for Hard Nights, he shifted his gaze down to his feet while we walked. The hallways here were plastered with various ad sets we had run of our bestselling toys. There were huge blown-up pictures of dildos in every shape, color, and size along with a model making bedroom eyes at them.

I heard my name and spun around to see Aria, one of my favorite women in the office, walking in my direction. Aria had her hair cut into a stylish pixie that I could never pull off, perfectly drawn black wings lined her eyes, and she had a nose ring. She always said exactly what she was thinking, and she was wicked smart.

“Who is this tasty snack?” she asked, giving Rocky a once over.

“Oh Rocky? He’s a new product tester, I’m bringing him to the paranormal pitch so that he can give his feedback.”

  Rocky turned bright red.

“No shit,” Aria said while sweeping her eyes up and down his body again. “If you need someone to help with that market research, you give me a call.” She winked at hi
m and then turned to me. “I’m so glad you’re back. Lacey has been giving me so much work. How was the convention?” she asked.

  “Convention?”

She blinked twice and cocked her head to the side. “The sex toy convention in France. Lacey is excited to get into the European market. She said uncut peens would be fun for the Lifesize molds line.”

I coughed to cover my surprise. So that’s what Diego told them all. I wasn’t even mad about it. Lacey was always encouraging us to learn more and signed us up for every event and opportunity available. I’d have to thank Diego for making it sound like I was at a professional development thing.

“It was great. I think I learned a lot and have a really awesome pitch to bring back,” I replied.

“That’s great,” Lacey said at my back. “Aria, clear my schedule. I want to chat with Drew about her trip before our meeting.” Aria smiled and nodded enthusiastically before disappearing. I bet the reason she was running so quickly was because she didn’t want Lacey to give her anything else to do. My boss was amazing but demanding.

I followed Lacey into her office, and Rocky awkwardly stood outside the door. It wasn’t until the door slammed shut that Lacey spoke. “How in the hell did you get changed?!” she asked with a bite in her tone. “I’ve been on a waiting list for five years. I’m close to aging out, but I’ve heard rumors that they’re upping the limit. Did it hurt? What did you have to do?”

I shook my head. Wait, what? Lacey knew about vampires? “What are you talking about?” I asked.

“You’re a vampire. A fucking vampire!” Lacey’s eyes were wide as she took me in. “I knew something was up when you showed up sick, but it wasn’t until the fucking king of the vampires showed up that I put it all together.” She soured and grabbed my wrist, guiding me to the loveseat in her office.

I blinked stupidly. My mind was racing, but it felt like my thoughts were moving through sludge at the same time.

“Come on, Drew, you don’t have to pretend. Tell me everything,” Lacey said, her eyes boring into me. Maybe I was imagining it, but Lacey seemed a little off. She wasn’t her normal chipper self. But it could be the subject matter. The existence of the undead wasn’t exactly a rainbow and puppies kind of topic.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. We should really set up for the presentation,” I said, trying to get out of this conversation. I didn’t know what the rules on this kind of thing were, so I was going to deny deny deny.

Lacey wasn’t letting me off that easily, though. “Oh, come on.” She rolled her eyes for emphasis. “I couldn’t make the last coven feeding, but I’ll be there for the next one. I’m one of the advanced human feeders. I swear, getting bit is better than sex. If I could find a way to bottle the experience, I would.” She eyed me for a moment before continuing. “I never saw you there, though. You know, it took me three years before I was even allowed to remember the feedings. I had to pay ten grand for that promotion. When I first signed up, I got compelled each time and would have to learn vampires existed once a month when they needed blood. I age out in three years, Drew. What makes you so special?”

That sounded terrible. Maybe it was their way of gauging how potential recruits responded to the news to see if they could handle becoming a vampire, but why would you want to go through that month after month? “Lacey, I’m sorry, but I’m not sure what you’re talking about,” I said. Work was supposed to be the one place where I didn’t have to worry about vampires. Now I had an eager boss on the waitlist for our elite club.

“Okay, whatever you say,” Lacey said. “I know how the rules are. I’ve been doing this for years, after all.” I recognized the passive aggressiveness in her tone and winced. She stood up and then gasped. “Drew, Graham is here.”

  “What?”

“Graham. Graham Noble. He’s standing outside my office.” She pointed out to where Rocky was standing, and sure enough, Graham was standing there talking to him. Damn these stupid open concept glass offices and their stellar visibility.

“Uh, who’s Graham?” I tried playing stupid.

“Okay, I’ll play along,” Lacey said, exasperated. “Graham is on the vampire council. He’s very powerful. Except for the king himself, Graham is probably one of the most powerful vampires alive today. And he’s fucking hot.”

Lacey babbled on excitedly about Graham for another minute or two. I tuned her out as I tried to figure out what the actual suck was happening here. Lacey knew who Graham was, and she knew Diego was the king. It might be really nice to have someone to confide in, and it would make getting time off easier, but the resentment in her tone wasn’t reassuring.

“I’m going to go introduce myself to him, maybe he can recommend me to be changed,” Lacey said, snapping me back to reality.

“I wouldn’t count on it,” I mumbled, but Lacey was already out the door to meet him.

I gathered my presentation materials before following after her, but I could hear Lacey gush over her guest. “It is an honor to have you here, sir. Can I get you anything? I don’t know if you remember me, but I let your second cousin’s date feed from me two summers ago.”

Graham smiled patronizingly at Lacey, like the Harvard educated woman standing in front of him was nothing but a cute poodle that peed herself from excitement. “I ate in the car ride over,” Graham replied while tilting his head to the side and smiling. I was surprised he didn’t reach out and pat Lacey on the head. I seriously needed to chat with my boss. There was no way in hell I’d let her go down this road. “I was actually stopping by to check on our newest recruit.”

Lacey nodded enthusiastically and turned to face me. “Drew!” she called. Her ringing voice echoed around me. Rocky crossed his arms over his chest.

“Want me to call Diego?” he asked.

  “Already on it.”

While walking toward Graham and Lacey, I sent a mind message to Diego, feeling a bit awkward about the mental exchange. I hadn’t really attempted it since the ghosty blowie.

Graham showed up at my work.

“We love Drew. She’s my smartest employee. I taught her everything I know,” Lacey said.

“Lacey’s the best,” I agreed, mostly to placate my boss. “Actually, I think Graham would love to see the photos of you meeting Michelle Obama.” I forced the warmth of compulsion to wash over her. She tilted her head to the side, her pupils widening as she stared at me. “Why don’t you go get them from your house.”

Lacey started nodding frantically. “Just stay right here. I’ll go get it,” she replied in a robot voice. I breathed a sigh of relief as she turned away from us and walked toward the elevator. Lacey was safe for now, and I had a little bit of time to get rid of Graham.

“What are you doing here?” I asked through gritted teeth. I hadn’t seen Graham since my exam, and I wanted to yell, scream, or hit him. But we were in my place of business, and I had to maintain my composure.

“Well, you really sold this place at the council brunch. I figured I should at least come and check out all the amazing work you are doing,” Graham said casually. Rocky moved so that he was standing beside me, his hands clenched into tight fists at his side. He hadn’t forgotten about what Graham pulled at the exam either, and this time we were in a building with hundreds of humans.

“Drew, we are ready for you in here,” Aria said, popping her head out of the boardroom. “I’ll tell them five more minutes,” she said, sensing the tension between me and the two large men on either side of me. She ducked back into the meeting room, closing the door firmly behind her.

Shit, the presentation. Lacey was gone, and I had a vampire entourage. No biggie.

“Come on,” I said to Rocky and Graham. “You’re both coming with me.” I had no idea what Graham was up to, but I felt it was safer to bring him into the meeting where Rocky and I could keep an eye on him.

“Now, I can’t tell... Is that a request or a command?” Graham asked. I frowned. “This should be very enlighteni
ng,” Graham snickered.

I smoothed my suit jacket and tried to recall some of my earlier confidence. I put on my biggest smile and opened the door. Graham and Rocky followed me through and took the first open seats they could find.

“Good morning, everyone, I’m so excited to tell you all about the market plan for the Out of This World toy line as well as show some product ideas I have to expand on this successful market. I hope you don’t mind that I asked these handsome men to shadow me today. I’m trying to recruit them to our sales team,” I addressed the room.

Graham snorted and then tried to cover it with a cough. Rocky shot daggers out of his eyes in Graham’s direction. I was kind of digging how protective Rocky was of me. I mean, I knew it was his job and all, but I liked to think I was growing on him.

“If you will open the packets in front of you to page two, I have included some statistics on how popular paranormal books, television shows, and movies are with women aged eighteen to thirty-five. I’ve already reached out to publishing houses, book conventions, and established authors for cross-promotion efforts. I believe we can tap into that market.”

The box Rocky had been carrying for me had already been brought into the meeting room and unpacked on the long table in the front. I picked up a smooth, matte black vibrator, whose handle was encrusted with glittering ruby rhinestones. “This is called The Black Veil.” I held it up so that the light sparkled off the deep red stones. “It’s made of the highest quality silicone and has four different patterns of motion combined with the clitoral stimulator. It also has…”

My voice trailed off as I watched Graham lean over to speak with a member of the board. “You hate this idea…”

Mothersucking asshole. This sucker was sabotaging my pitch with his glamour.

“I hate this idea,” the man echoed while tossing my report on the floor.

Rocky reached for Graham as he spoke to someone on the research and development team. “This project idea is cheesy.”
