“Te’moc will attempt to collect as much of the essence as possible, allowing both he and J’nae to acquire more power. It will not be for external goals, but for self-fulfillment. And knowing there is a ready supply of essence in the eight sentry Aris to boost his powers, they will come for them. These Aris are unable to move from their stations and will be easy prey. And with the Arya, they will have the necessary data required to find them, as well as the means to travel between dimensions.”
“Doesn’t Te’moc already have TD capabilities?” Copernicus asked.
“Not starships. The Sol-Kor have either rebuilt the larger portals, or he came to the Milky Way through a lost personal transport. They’ve never had ships such as the Aris and I have built. The Arya will give him that ability.”
“But he’ll know he’s destroying the universe if he takes away the immortality of the Aris.”
“He will not care. He and J’nae can always return to the Sol-Kor universe and be immune to anything that happens in these two dimensions. And together they could rule the Sol-Kor, and never relinquish that role even as the Sol-Kor evolve to a new lifeform.”
“Even if he screws with the Aris, there’s still a million years before anything happens,” Copernicus said. “That will give you time to work on a fix.”
“I don’t think you fully grasp what I meant earlier, Mr. Smith,” Panur said. “The million-year figure is only if the Aris maintain their vigil. If they are removed from the line, the tear will become progressively worse. At which point your estimate of a week before complete blowout would not be far off.”
“Well, hell,” Adam sighed. He knew what was coming. It always came down to this. “So how do we stop them? Obviously, you and the Aris can’t get close to this Te’moc dude. Is there anything mere mortals can do against Te’moc that immortal geniuses can’t?”
“Yes, there is. Te’moc’s ability to fuse with another will have no effect on your kind; there is no essence within you to be removed. However, your challenge will be two-fold and crucial. First of all, you must stop J’nae from merging with him. If that happens, their powers will be multiplied, making them harder to defeat. Summer will be fighting the corrupting influence of J’nae during this time. We can only hope she’s strong enough to resist. But she will be susceptible to more of her lies. But even more critical, you must keep Te’moc from acquiring the Arya and all its capabilities. If he can transit universes at will, we are all in danger. Take the Sansa, Adam. But hurry. Summer is already back in the Milky Way; Te’moc can find her now. There is not much time.”
Riyad glanced at his wristwatch before looking at Adam with his trademark white smile. “Well, it is Tuesday.”
Adam nodded. “That it is, my friend.”
Tidus frowned. “I do not see the significance of the date.”
Adam cocked his head, looking up from his bed at the tall Juirean. “If you’re going to be part of the main cast, then you’re going to have to get with the program. It’s Tuesday. We always save the universe on Tuesday.”

Author Notes and FREE BOOK OFFER
Wow! Another installment of The Human Chronicles Saga is complete. Phantoms is the 27th book in the series, which is almost unheard of in the annals of science fiction series. It’s longevity is a testament to the loyalty of my readers. I appreciate all of you more than you can know. Especially you!
Phantoms is the beginning of a new story arc, with a projected four books in the series-within-a-series. It’s funny, how after so many books in the series, the universe of The Human Chronicles has become so large now that old friends and enemies keep showing up, while new characters and situations present themselves constantly. Writing an Adam Cain novel is like visiting an old friend. It’s just comfortable, familiar … and fun!
The next book in the series will be out at the end of June 2019, with another novel following just about every month after that, if I can keep up the pace. But after 35 novels, writing these things is a habit by now. So stick with me. There’s more to come.

Obviously, Adam and his team are returning to the Milky Way in search of the evil superbeing Te’moc and his accomplice, J’nae. In the balance hangs the life of young Summer Rains … as well as the fate of two universes, ours included.
Yes, the challenges just keep getting bigger. For planets, then galaxies and now universes. What’s next? I don’t know, but I’ll think of something!
Oh, and About the REV Warriors Series…
Yes, that, too. The first book in the series, REV: Retribution, is in the works, detailing how the war with the Antaere has taken an unexpected turn with the Human race on the brink of extinction. Unless, of course, this new breed of Human—the REVs—can save the day once more. The series is building momentum. Hopefully, you’ll be amazed by what comes next.
