In A Deep Dark Wood: A psychological thriller Page 26

by Tina Pritchard

Tomorrow we are going to pick up our new puppy, a female collie cross. We have named her Jenny, in honour of our dear friend and neighbour and Buddy’s biggest champion. She’s got a lot to live up to, in so many ways. As do we all.

We hope you enjoyed this book

If you could spend a moment to write an honest review, no matter how short, we would be extremely grateful. They really do help readers discover new authors.

  Acknowledgments

The germ of the idea for this book came as I was walking my dog in a small area of woodland at the back of my house. As the story took shape and evolved, it was heartening to have so much support along the way. I want to thank my family for believing in me. They are Matt, Adam, Persephone, and my daughter in law Daisy, who has been my biggest cheerleader.

I’d also like to thank Roz Watkins and Beccy Bagnall who provided the environment to nurture my writing skills when they started the original White Peak Writers group here in Derbyshire. Thanks to Pam for giving me constructive feedback on numerous pieces of writing. Her eagle eye has been invaluable. Also thanks to fellow writers Cheryl, Rachel, Isobel, Angela and Tom, all talented storytellers in their own right.

A huge thank you is owed to my ever patient and encouraging husband Lian, whose culinary skills have improved over the last couple of years by necessity. I mustn’t forget to include my terrier Horace, who takes me on walks, even in the worst of weather and who was the inspiration for Buddy, the dog in the book.

I especially want to thank Brian and Garrett at Inkubator Books who took a punt on this debut author and eased me into the process of getting my book published with conviction and good humour.

The poem Tell Me is reproduced with kind permission from the author Alice Woodrome.
