As she was about to consider a new method to leave this island, the surface of the ocean around the island began to change.

Splash! Splash! The water grew chaotic as if something terrifying was about to reveal its prestige. Miren Fei seeing this felt shocked as she shouted, "What! What kind of creature could cause such a----?"

As if it didn't want her to wait too long, the sea finally shot towards the sky creating a geyser that was many kilometers long.

Bangggg! Following a loud sound, the massive silhouette of a scaly snake-like creature became visible as it had torn through the ocean from the depths quickly making its way up the surface of the sea.

In one single motion, it rose from the sea swallowing the bite-sized corpse of the bear creature in one gulp. Soon after, resting its big yellow eyes towards the tiny island before its existence.

Eventually, it narrowed its scaly eyes focusing on the form of Miren Fei who stood at the edge of the beach with a pale face that was filled with pure shock. If one looked carefully at her now dull eyes, they would realize that she had long since lost consciousness due to the surprise.

A race thought to be extinct since ancient times; renowned for its brutal nature within the vast seas. A paragon of sea life earning the right to be ranked as a supreme force beast regardless of its cultivation rank, the Golden-Eyed Flood Dragon...

"Oh? A human in my realm? Prepare yourself for death!" A powerful sounding voice said as it echoed through the minds of all things within the vicinity.

The Golden-Eyed Flood Dragon after finishing its words used its spiritual sense to launch a spiritual attack to destroy the human's soul as if it disdained using its physical body to entrap such a lower class being. However, upon touching the body Miren Fei with its spiritual sense a strange scene occurred.

Pheww! A powerful ripple soon spread out from her body as the figure of a semi-transparent man appeared. He had short jade colored hair that flowed upwards with a crown on the top of his head; he wore average robes with an aura that seemed mortal but yet not mortal at the same time.

An odd entity that seemed to be borrowing some unknown power to materialize itself here, he then looked towards the stunned and blanked out Miren Fei behind him with a gentle expression as he rubbed her hair with his semi-transparent palms. Soon, he picked her up in a princess hold and closed her eyes with his palm.

The Golden-Eyed Flood Dragon noticing this strange man before its eyes became surprised as it looked at the man who blocked its spiritual attack with a feeling of unease. It didn't try to act rashly as it had yet to understand this unknown being.

The man who had now gently received Miren Fei then moved his gaze towards the Golden-Eyed Flood Dragon. It was a strange look filled with a presence that felt imperial.

The Golden-Eyed Flood Dragon seeing the man's gaze became struck with fear as it realized that it could no longer move its body nor use its spiritual power to speak as if it was a fish on a chopping block with its destiny in the hands of the chef.

"A smart one you are not to attack wildly, hmm, although I am angry at the fact that my only spiritual marking had to be used to protect my daughter at such a time. Sigh, I guess it can't be helped, destiny is never set to begin with, plans will fail, and it is up to the individual to decide his or her own paths to walk..." The man said in a voice that seemed to be capable of traveling through time.

After a short moment, his eyes grew sharp as he once more spoke to the Golden-Eyed Flood Dragon, "You have two choices, the first is to become the Natial life beast of my daughter forever her guardian in the soon to come dark times... or the second..."

As he spoke to here, he lifted one of his hands and pointed his finger towards the distant ocean opposite from the massive Golden-Eyed Flood Dragon form.

Phewww! A beam of green light shot from within his body that parted the ocean for thousands of miles towards the far distant unknown. Soon, a bright mushroom cloud rose up in the distance causing half of this realm to be shrouded by a bright jade-like light for a short moment.

What was unusual was that this mighty scene remained undetected by all within the Ancient Dragon Battlefield.

The lights receded soon after revealing a catastrophic scene with half of this space completely in ruins with the endless waters flowing towards the unknown like a massive waterfall at the edge of the world.

The Golden-Eyed Flood Dragon seeing this scene became stunned once more, upon recovering its freedom of movement it immediately lowered its head spoke with the politest tone possible, "Little one greets your great excellency! It would be this one's honor to serve the young miss of your excellency..."

The man seeing this nodded his head in satisfaction as he spoke once more, "Un. Good! You will soon come to realize that your choice today may have been the very opportunity you had long been seeking..."

He then stretched his hand out towards the flood dragon pointing his finger at its forehead while speaking in a soft voice, "Now then, bin--ding..."

Within moments, a bright light shone from his finger causing a green chain to form around the flood dragon soon its massive figure began to shrink. Soon, it turned into a beam of blue light that shot towards the forehead of Miren Fei.

Ping! Upon disappearing, the bright light in the eyes of transparent man started to fade, as he sensed this, he promptly took a step forwards vanishing from this space appearing at a strange looking portal in this realm.

As his figure rapidly faded, he still used the last of his time to hold his daughter close while looking at her with a gentle expression. He then muttered to himself, "A fate that only you can change... daughter. Do not blame father for faking his death... do not blame father for leaving you at such a young age... the 'Imperial Courts' are changing as the war between all races is once again near at hand. You are the successor to 'Jade Mirror,' and many will try to kill you if they find out where you are, not even I can protect you..."

As he said this, he looked at a jade spot that now appeared on top of her head bright light shone from this spot as a mirror soon formed on top of its surface. This mirror was strange as if it existed since the beginning of time, and all things reflected in its sights were only a duplicate of the original shown within its mirror's eyes.

After showing off its prestige to the man before it, the Jade Mirror soon returned to the body of Miren Fei once more falling to slumber until the time for its true awakening.

The man seeing this smiled as he body was now almost gone, he moved his mouth to the forehead of Miren Fei leaving a kiss before he let go of her body, causing the portal before his eyes to slowly draw her body within.

"Go, my daughter, go and grow strong! Your future rests in your hands!" Upon saying this, his figure vanished into thin air leaving behind the now silent water space as the figure of Miren Fei turned into specks of light that disappeared within the portal to another zone.

  Chapter 97

  __

The Silver Wolf of the Feral Zone!

It was a dark environment, one in a constant state of night-time. The brightly shining stars lit up above the heavens giving color to this dark earth, as the round moon hanging high at its center would illuminate the surroundings with its cold moonlight. A wild pasture filled with dense grasses along with the exotic wildlife that stretched towards distant range to no end.

The Feral Zone... a dangerous place, the home for many of this realm's most ferocious beasts.

  Swoooosh!

A chilly gust blew across this grassland, rustling the bushes and picking up tree leaves, causing them to glide across its endless reach. These leaves flew further and further across the meadows soon after reaching a vast open field, or rather...

  A battleground...

  Slash! Splash! Thud!

Following the sounds of flesh being sliced to pieces and corpses falling to the ground, the figure of a Beastman soon appeared standing on top of the body belonging to a Nightfiend.

A terrifying lower-class fiendkin that th
rives in darkness, typically known as natural born predators of the night. With bat-like wings and sharply pointed fangs at the corner of their mouths giving one a creepy feeling as their small narrow eyes gleamed in a dark light.

The Beastman who stood over the corpse was strange, with the head of a lion, and the body similar to that of a muscular man whose hair had grown wildly. He wore a type of leather armor with one big sword sheathed on his back as his hands firmly grasped the hilt of a claymore that now pointed to the sky.

After slaughtering the lower-class fiend in one attack, the Beastman lifted its head and roared, "Kill them all!"

"Eyaaa!" A loud collection of voices said, as a group of mixed beastkind charged forwards to their enemies that glided through the night in sleek style.

More clashes between steel, claws, and flesh resounded throughout the night scene as colorful splashes of blood splattered across the open field painting its meadows with their crimson hue.

The Nightfiends were numerous and fought in a slippery manner, much like assassins.

They seeped through the gaps left unguarded by the assaulting beast army and harvested the lives of many unsuspecting beastkind. Still, a majority of them died by the wild attacks of enraged beastkind members that decimated many at each strike.

The Beastman Leader seeing this frowned as he thought to himself, "How troublesome. If it continues this way, we will end up in an even more unfavorable circumstance, Che! Why did this damn battlefield war have to start now? Things were already rough as it is surviving in this wilderness with these fiends now, we must also worry about the humans who have once more entered these realms. Truly a troublesome time..."

As he thought to himself, he couldn't help but move his eyes to the full moon hanging high above the night sky as a strange red glow that was slowly beginning to form within it.

The atmosphere of the battlefield slowly began to change to an even viler scene, as a bloody aura rose up within the world causing a heavy feeling of oppression to rise within all beings.

The Beastman Leader noticing this sudden change became shocked, he instantly commanded his group, "Oh no! Was it this hour? Not good, all troops withdraw immed---" or rather, tried to command, for as his words started, they were soon interrupted by a loud calling.

"Awooooooo!" A mighty howl caused all those who heard its cry to become filled with immense dread. It was as if this calling was the true calling of the night, proclaiming an undenied rule of absolute monarchy over these dark hours.

The warring forces of the beast clan and fiendkin became stunned as they know full well what this sound meant. The rumored creature of late that has caused massive amounts of damage to both groups’ main forces.

Quickly, both troops began to retreat at a rapid pace.

As they retreated, the commander of the Nightfiend Army carefully observed its environment as it stealthy and swiftly made its way towards the distance with his troops.

"Damn! How could my unit have the bad luck of meeting this nightmare on my hunting session? Once I get back to the palace, I will certainly give them a piece of----"As the Nightfiend leader was complaining, he couldn't help but cut his words short as the scene before him changed.

Swoosh! As if announcing a superior type of presence to the world, a dense mist began to form around this section of the open field. Very soon, the form of a creature began to make an appearance.

It was a massive wolf, with silvery white fur, and blood red eyes that brilliantly shone within these dense mists filling its onlookers with a sense of despair.

"The Silver Wolf of the Feral Plains... all troops evasive tactics, we must avoid direct confrontation at all cost and fight it from a distance..." The Nightfiend Unit Leader commanded as his figure vanished, soon after appearing a few meters distance away.

The other Nightfiends also didn't waste any time as they promptly moved like slippery assassins that faded into the night.

The silver white wolf looked at the prey of Nightfiends who were trying to escape before its eyes with a brutal gaze, as it lifted its head once more revealing its battle cry, "Awoooo!"

Upon howling to with all of its rage, it immediately pressed all of its legs against the ground launching itself forwards at incredible speeds, blurring and vanishing from the line of sight of these fiends.

Splash! Splash! Splash! A series of bloody geysers spread out across the field as the figures of Nightfiends became torn to pieces for every bright white blur that swept across their forms. The wolf was not only fast but flexible as it could easily track down and slaughter these hard to trace Nightfiends in the darkest of nights.

The Nightfiend Leader seeing this cursed, "Not good! He's too fast! It seems a direct confrontation cannot be helped!" Upon saying this, he then spread both of his hands apart as if trying to envelop the world and shouted, "It's all or nothing! - Night's Curtain!"

Buzz! After loud sound, the world within this region that had been illuminated by the moon's light became filled with even more darkness. Soon, a black curtain started to rise from the ground swiftly covering all things within its reach.

The desperate Nightfiends seeing this technique became excited as they swiftly rushed forwards merging as one whole with the darkness. After a few moments of time, the dark curtain spread out even further quickly covering all for more than a few hundred meters.

The previously escaping beastkind who were still within the range of the field became stunned, as they soon started to sink into the darkness of this fiendish technique.

"Arhg! Help me--!" A beastkind cried out, but it was soon cut off as he was swallowed by the darkness around him leaving no trace behind. A few other weaker beastkind also had similar fates leaving behind only the stronger warriors who were struggling to resist the technique.

The slightly struggling leader of the beastkind spoke in a solemn tone of voice, "Curtain of Night! Darn, they had a high-blood elite amongst their ranks? Now that they've used this technique escaping will become even more troublesome! What to do? Even if it's that brutal wolf, there is no way---"

As he was lost in his thoughts, contemplating the methods of escape a sound soon interrupted him from his thoughts.

"Grrrrr----! Awoooooooo!" After struggling for a bit with enveloping darkness that wrapped around its form, the wolf once more howled.

Its form that was almost swallowed by the dark curtain soon became shrouded by a bright silvery white light that lit up the darkness for dozens of meters.

  Piiiiiiiiiii!

The nearby Nightfiends caught by these rays of light soon disintegrated with no ability to resist its might.

Quickly, a large section of the darkness vanished as if using a knife to cut a hole in paper leaving only the form of the silvery white wolf at its center, basking in its glorious energies and the blood-colored moonlight that once again beamed down from the starry heavens.

The Nightfiend Leader seeing this became angry as he roared, "You blasted animal! I want to see you get out a second time!" As he said this, he started to gather more of the dark fiendish aura for another assault against the wolf.

However, things were not going to be same this time around.

The wolf lifted its head and looked towards the blood red moon that hung high above the world. Vaguely, a look of clarity could be seen in its entirely blood red eyes as its consciousness drifted into a dream...

A place located far away from others, surrounded by hills and trees for as far as the eye can see... this place was called, the Grail Plains.

A group of people lived here, or rather than people one should call these individuals, beast-kind. A peculiar race said to have gone extinct from the Outer True Yuan Continent for years. Yet, here they are the last remnants of an old ancient race, a race of a dignifying prestige, typically known as, the Ancient Wolfkind...

They are a special breed, capable of attaining human-like forms at an early age regardless of cultivation levels. Powerful beings with an ac
ute sense of smell and natural born battle instinct. A race bred for war and lived for war, a pity, they eventually declined.

Now what remains is only a fraction of their once, glorious past...

An aged man could be seen seated in a cross-legged posture on top of a boulder in an open space. Seated quietly before this man was a small group of children in their early years no older than 4 to 5 years old, they looked at the old man curiously and with deep interest.

One small boy was about 3 and a half years of age, his face stained with milk from his mother that he was continuously wiping with the back of small little palms. He listened to elder’s words with deep concentration unlike many children his age.

"We are of a noble blood, and our legacy will remain forever untold. However, even if we are now but a remnant of our former selves you must never forget... never forget that you are, Ancient Wolfkind. Our blood boils for battle at dawn, but once it reached the apex of the night... we will the rise with the summoning of our 'bloody moon,' awakening of the might of ancient old..." The old man spoke with an air of wisdom, as his eyes gleamed with a light of deep profoundness he swept across the group of children with a smile on his face before pausing at the form of the 3 and half-year-old boy.

His eyes glowing in a strange light as he spoke in a voice that faded with the wind, "Unleash your inner wolf!"

The boy's consciousness once more faded as he returned from his memories to the present world, within the Ancient Dragon Battlefield, inside of the untamed Feral Zone...

The Nightfiend Leader noticing the strange state of the silver wolf became excited as he now saw an opportunity to finish this menacing threat, he lifted his hands once more and yelled, "Night's Calling!"

Buzzz! The darkness shook as thousands upon thousands of spears made of darkness formed above the air. Soon, the already dark night sky became darker as these black spears gave off a heavy oppression to all below their range.
