I headed to my room and changed out of my stuffy suit and tie to more casual clothes. Ryan had taken out all the take-out boxes from the bag when I returned.

“These look good. Thanks,” he said.

I didn’t take the armchair next to the sofa but sat right next to him. Ryan didn’t complain. We ate in silence for a few moments.

“What’s wrong?” I finally asked him.

  “What do you mean?”

“I came home and found you all swaddled in your old baby blanket.”

He blew out a breath. “Nothing escapes you, huh? It’s stupid.”

Ryan then told me he bumped into Parker after lunch. Jealousy reared its ugly head inside me. I always knew Ryan was too nice for his own good despite his snarky personality.

Deep down, he was a sweetie. That was one of the traits I secretly liked about him.

“I didn’t know why I didn’t just blow him off. He kept insisting we were friends and he needed to let off some steam. I guess I also felt bad for him because his marriage was going sideways. It’s only been a month since he and Dave tied the knot.”

Ryan set his chopsticks down. A Korean drama was playing on the TV but he’d muted the sound earlier.

Ryan continued, “Part of me, the vicious and petty part is happy to hear they’re both so miserable. There’s something not right with me.”

“There’s nothing wrong with you.” I insisted. “If I had an ex like that, I’d be petty and vindictive, too.”

“I shouldn't have entertained him at all.”

“You were just being nice, but if talking to Parker hurts, then you shouldn’t do it.”

“He’s already broken my heart once. I’m not foolish enough to fall for him again. Besides, I’m married, aren’t I?” He asked. “Parker said he was jealous of how things seemed so perfect between us.”

I chuckled. “I knew those Instagram posts would pay off.”

  “It certainly did.”

My heart thundered when he rested his head on my shoulder. I slid my hand down his bare thigh, happy he didn’t push me away.

Ryan wore one of his favorite shirts, a faded blue tee, and an old pair of gray athletic shorts. My insides twisted into knots and my skin felt fever hot whenever I was around him. I took deep breaths and leaned forward to gather all the trash in the brown paper bag.

“How are you feeling now?” I asked.

“Better. Sorry, you had to listen to me rant.”

“No apologies. I don’t mind hearing about your problems.”

“I’ve decided. If something like that ever happens again, I’ll politely tell Parker to fuck off.”

  I smiled. “That’s my husband.”

He lifted his head from my shoulder and squinted at me intently. Not wanting to give myself away, I decided to change the topic.

“So we’re watching Crash Landing on You again?” I asked him.

  “Hey, it’s an amazing show.”

I leaned back against the sofa, pleased Ryan cuddled closer to me like there weren’t any boundaries between us.

I hated to admit it, but this pretend marriage was beginning to take a toll on me. I was slowly losing my mind because I couldn’t touch him. I didn’t want to lose these quiet moments between us either.

“Where’s the remote? I need to turn the volume up. This is the best part,” he began.

We’d dimmed the lights after eating, so Ryan had to fumble for the remote in the dark. Ryan let out a breath as he touched my knee, then he curiously moved his hand upwards. He traced the shape of my dick, which was straining against the fabric of my boxers.

  “Someone’s happy,” he murmured.

Taking that as an open invitation, I reached for his cock and squeezed it. He moaned and my mind transported me once again to our passionate night in Vegas.

“Looks like you’re in the same state.” I paused when Ryan pulled away from me.

This was it, I miserably thought. Ryan was going to turn the TV off, wish me good night, and disappear inside his room. He did turn the TV off and flicked the light switch back on.

My pulse raced as he knelt in front of me, right between my legs.

“Do you think this is a good idea?” I silently cursed myself.

I knew one wrong move could send him running, could ruin the fragile bonds we’ve managed to build.

He laughed. “Probably not, but I’ve been wanting to suck your cock since we flew back from Vegas.”

“For real?” I asked. “You bolted when after you spied me masturbating.”

“I wasn’t spying.” His neck and cheeks turned pink. “I just happen to walk in while you were taking care of business.”

“Taking care of business?” I smirked, then sobered up. “Ryan, I just don’t want you to regret this.”

“I won’t,” he promised. “We’re pretending we’re married. Why can’t we fool around?”

“You said you can’t do casual.” I reminded him.

What was I doing? Why was I trying to dissuade him when clearly, both of us wanted this?”

“Just shut up and let me do the work.” Ryan insisted.

  “Sorry.”

Ryan lowered my boxers, exposing my dick, which hung erect. He licked his lips in anticipation. Ryan looked perfect on his knees like this. He stared at my cock like it was an adult lollipop he couldn’t wait to get his hands on.

He curled his fingers over my shaft. I speared my fingers into his hair and pulled his face close to my dick. He stuck his tongue out. Ryan licked away the pre-cum that had gathered over the crown of my dick.

I groaned, stopping myself from pumping my hips and simply just fucking his mouth. Ryan took his time, exploring me from root to base. He didn’t neglect my balls. These, he took inside his mouth and he sucked on them slowly and carefully.

Then he dragged his tongue all the way back up, the motion slow and deliberate. God, Ryan was going to kill me.

I wasn’t sure I could hold back much longer. Thankfully, Ryan opened his mouth and began to take me down his throat. He bobbed his head up and down. My dick felt like a steel pipe between my legs.

  “Hold still,” I ordered.

Ryan did as I asked. I pumped my prick in and out of his mouth. In seconds, I came.

I spilled my jizz down his throat and he took every drop like a champ. Hot damn. He was too amazing for words.

Ryan peeled off his shirt, stood up, and slid into my lap like he always belonged there. He nuzzled my neck like a needy cat. I banded one arm around his ass, making sure he wouldn’t fall.

“That was so hot,” he whispered.

I took that opportunity to crash my mouth against his. I tasted a little of my need on his lips as I thrust my tongue down his throat.

Ryan held my shoulders, rubbing his tempting little body against mine. I shoved one hand down his shorts and drew his dick out. He pulled away from my mouth.

“What are you—” Ryan seemed to have forgotten what he wanted to say next because I started stroking him furiously.

He groaned, pumping his hips against mine. I worked his prick faster until he arched his back and threw his head back.

He came, calling out my name so sweetly, coating my hand with his seed. He surprised me by lifting my hand. Ryan licked the digits clean.

“Fuck, babe. You’re amazing,” I told him.

“Next time,” he said, slipping out of my lap. “We’re definitely having sex.”

“Can’t argue with you there,” I said.

I watched him leave. Moments later, I heard the shower door slam shut. I swiped some tissues from the box nearby and cleaned myself off.

Then I put my boxers back on. I heard my phone’s ringtone going off. I stumbled back to my room. I left my phone in my trousers. I saw it was Jordan calling.

  “What’s up, man?”

“You busy?” He asked. “Sorry to call so late.”

Was it late? I glanced at the wall clock on top of the bed and saw it was a few minu
tes past midnight. Time flew fast when Ryan and I were snuggled together in front of the TV.

  “Nah, it’s fine. What’s up?” I asked.

“I forgot to ask if Ryan and you are up for meeting the family next weekend.”

I laughed. “I’ve met your parents, aunts, uncles, and your cousins.”

“Yeah, I know. You’ve been coming to our barbecues since were we in highschool but this time is different.”

“Wow, Jordan, you actually sound worried. We’ll be there and I promise I wouldn’t screw this up.”

I made sure he heard how serious I was. Meeting Jordan and Ryan’s parents as Ryan’s husband suddenly made me a little nervous.

They’ve always been super nice to me. How would I face them and Jordan, if Ryan and I finally decided to stop with all this pretense?

What if our divorce had devastating effects on everyone? It would permanently damage my friendship with Jordan.

I knew I should’ve thought of this sooner. It was easy getting roped into the pretend married life Ryan and I had.

“Noah, you still there?” He asked. “Why are you up so late anyway? Don’t you usually turn in by eleven so you can wake up for your morning jog?”

“Well, my husband needed some TLC. We were up all night, watching his favorite show.”

Jordan groaned. “Crash Landing again? He must’ve watched that show three times now. Why? What happened?”

I briefly gave him a quick summary of Ryan’s meeting with Parker.

“That prick,” he said darkly. “He should’ve never approached Ryan.”

“I know, right? Ryan’s too nice for his own good sometimes. He might appear touchy and snarly on the outside but inside? He’s a soft marshmallow. A delicious marshmallow but a soft one nonetheless.”

Jordan snorted on the other end. “Huh. I didn’t realize you were so perceptive. Then again, you guys are married.”

Was Jordan trying to get me to admit what Ryan and I had weren’t real? He needed to try harder.

“Listen, I’m about to join Ryan in the bathroom for some hot shower sex. We’re definitely going to the barbecue though. I miss your aunt’s barbecued pork chops.”

  “Okay. Catch you later, man.”

  “Bye.”

There was a knock on my door. Minutes later, Ryan appeared. He was dressed in nothing but his boxers. He was staring at his phone intently.

“Hey, warning but we’re supposed to be going to one of my family’s ridiculous barbecues next weekend,” he said. “Ian just texted me.”

“Yeah, I know. Just got off the phone with Jordan.”

Ryan paused, studying me and I wondered if it was too early to invite him to my bed. Instinct told me to hold it off, to wait. Now wasn’t the right time.

Ryan might still be thinking of Parker and when I pound him into the mattress it was only me I want him to think about. Me and my cock.

“Are you alright? You look a little green,” I remarked to Noah after we stepped off the ferry.

Noah waved me away. “Just a little seasick. I don’t do well with boats.”

I placed a hand over my mouth to prevent a laugh from escaping but it came out anyway. Noah glared at me but I wasn’t that intimidated, not when he still swayed unsteadily on his feet.

Would he get annoyed if I told him he looked cute?

“Can I do anything for you?” I offered.

“I’ll be fine. Just need to take in the fresh air.” Noah finally sighed after a few minutes. “I’m okay now. Let’s do this.”

We walked to my aunt Cara’s family home. She’d been hosting the family barbecues in her large Brownstone home for what felt like forever.

As we drew closer to her neighborhood, Noah slipped his arm around my shoulders. I didn’t mind at all, because we were supposed to be selling this whole fake marriage thing.

My mind kept slipping back to the night I gave Noah a blowjob. I never thought I’d enjoy giving blowjobs but seeing Noah come apart thanks to me?

I wanted to do it all over again. I promised Noah that next time, we were definitely going to have sex. I wondered if Noah remembered that and if he was looking forward to it as much as I did.

“You guys are here, nice,” Jordan said. He was standing outside the house, drinking a beer with Ian.

“Yeah, took us a while because Noah doesn’t like boats.”

Jordan grinned. “Oh yeah, forgot about that.”

“Hey, you shouldn't be pointing out your husband’s weaknesses,” he said, giving me a playful nudge in the ribs.

Jordan rolled his eyes. Ian wiggled his eyebrows at me suggestively.

“Before I could hand you a beer,” Jordan told Noah, “You need to meet the folks first.”

“Oh please. Noah’s known mom and dad since you guys were in kindergarten,” I said. I knew this moment was coming, so I nodded. “Lead the way.”

Before Noah and I could meet my parents ‘officially’, a couple of aunts, uncles, and cousins ran into us. Most of them offered their congratulations. After what felt like forever, we finally arrived at the backyard. The smell of grilled meat made my stomach rumble.

“I know you’re hungry, but parents first,” Noah whispered in my ear.

Jordan kept stealing glances at us as we walked towards the smiling older couple standing by a maple tree. My parents, Janice and Rob, were amazing. They’ve always been supportive of me and my brother our entire lives.

They didn’t even blink twice when they learned both their sons were gay.

Noah pulled his arm away from my shoulders. Before he could say anything to them, my mom pulled him into a tight hug.

“Noah, I was so surprised when Jordan told us you and Ryan got married in Vegas. I would’ve liked to help you two plan your wedding, but never mind. It’s nice to know the two of you are together.”

She beamed at Noah. My dad just nodded at Noah and asked him if he wanted a beer.

  “Yes. Thanks, sir,” Noah answered.

“None of that sir and ma'am. We’ve known you since you were little, Noah,” my mom gushed.

“Slow down, mom or you’ll scare away my husband,” I said with a snort.

After that, the tension in Noah’s shoulders seemed to disappear. My parents chatted with him and Jordan a little more. Meanwhile, Ian tugged at my arm and gestured toward the grill. We filled our plates with food.

I munched on a hotdog as Ian eyed me. We stood under a tree, conspiring. Far away from my busybody and loud cousins as much as possible.

“So that went well, I think,” I told him.

“Ryan, have you ever thought about what would happen if Noah and you finally got a divorce?” He asked in a quiet voice.

Ian looked concerned, which was unlike him at all.

“What? No. That’s not going to happen anytime soon. I told you about my run-in with Parker earlier this week. He and Dave are completely eating this all up. My revenge isn’t complete.”

“But this isn’t about revenge anymore, isn’t it? I’ve seen the way you guys look at each other. You’re falling for him and I think he’s the same.”

I let out a nervous laugh. “No, he’s not. All Noah cares about is sex.”

“Then why haven’t you guys fucked?”

  I didn’t like Ian’s line of questioning.

“No reason. We just thought we’d be able to keep our hands off each other but it’s getting hard to do. Trust me, Ian. We’re not serious.”

Ian looked at me skeptically. I knew I was lying not just to him but also to myself. I couldn’t do casual.

I knew screwing around with Noah might leave me devastated later on but I no longer seemed to care about the consequences of our rash actions.

Kissing Noah, touching him, and taking his dick down my throat—nothing about it felt wrong. We were just two adults having fun, no strings attached. Or so I liked to think.

“Heads up, your hot husband is coming over,” Ian
remarked.

“What are the two of you gossiping about?” Noah asked, biting into a burger.

He held a can of beer in his other hand. He finished the burger in three big bites.

  “You,” Ian said.

“Oh? Did Ryan mentioned I had a big dick?”

“Hey,” I said, pinching his arm.

“Well, it’s true and you guys share everything,” Noah said with a shrug.

“So I’m out of here,” Ian said. “Good to see you again, Noah.”

“Bye Ian,” Noah said cheerfully. “I think it went well with your parents. They’re really good folks.”

“They are,” I said, biting on my lower lip.

“What’s wrong?” Noah aside. “Don’t worry, your parents still think I’m a good match for their baby boy.”

  “Baby boy?” I asked skeptically.

The rest of the afternoon passed by in a blur. I kept wondering if any of my cousins and relatives would find out Noah and I were faking it.

A few of my cousins suspected we were. Mostly, they enjoyed making Noah and me the butt of their lame married jokes. Noah took in everything astride.

He joked and laughed with everyone else. Thinking back, I realized I seldom saw Noah lose his temper. When he did, his anger burned cold, not hot. I definitely didn't want to get on his bad side. Then again, he'd never been cross with me during the time we were living together.

Seeing him looking relaxed like this, eased all the tension in my shoulders. I didn't want to admit my conversation with Ian bothered me.

Right now, all I wanted to do was live in the moment. Enjoy the time I had left with Noah. God. That sounded like one of us was about to die. I was being overdramatic again and I knew it.

"Ready to head back?" Noah asked me.

I blinked, surprised the sun was beginning to set. My cousins had started cleaning up around lawn.

"Hey, you guys are still here," my cousin Rory said. "Would you mind giving us a hand cleaning up?"

Noah threw his empty beer can inside a nearby trash bag.

"Sure, no problem man,” Noah answered.

Cleaning up gave me something else to think about apart from Ian's concerns. It was eight when we finally got off the ferry.

Noah threw up twice during the boat ride back. I hesitantly reached out, then patted his back as he gulped in lungfuls of fresh air.
