This scythe was so sharp that just looking at it seemed to slice apart one’s gaze.
The attacks Wang Chong had been facing had all come from this large scythe.
Boom! Wang Chong immediately unleashed a destructive torrent of energy from the Xuanyuan Sword, which smashed into the bizarre human-shaped creature like a comet and slammed it into the ground below.
Wang Chong had been using the True World ability this entire time, but his opponent’s attacks had been simply too erratic to pin down, completely defying the normal conventions of martial artists.
It was only after Wang Chong had identified the traits and cycle of his opponent’s attacks that he finally chose to abruptly strike and defeat his foe.
This time, Wang Chong held nothing back and immediately shot toward the bottom.
A fiery light assailed him, and he could see crimson flows of lava around him.
There were chunks of rock protruding from the lava flows, like small mountains, and on a dark brown rock, Wang Chong found the bizarre humanoid creature.
Wang Chong drifted down like a leaf, and at this moment, the creature began to move.
Its body trembled twice, and then it got up off the ground and blinked away. As Wang Chong landed, it roared and shot off toward another sharp rock.
Wang Chong simply landed on the ground and did not pursue.
“What is this thing? Its physical features are not similar to the Arabs, and its skin is ghastly white as if it hasn’t seen the sun in ages. Was it a guardian for that lost civilization? But how could anything live that long?” Wang Chong muttered to himself, very interested in this bizarre creature.
“Invader, die!”
At this moment, the human-shaped monster gave a strangled roar, hunching its body and beginning to radiate hostility.
Wang Chong smiled, completely unpanicked.
After fighting with it, Wang Chong had gradually begun to understand that the monster wasn’t very smart. It only knew a few simple words like ‘die’ or ‘mark’… It was like these words had been imprinted on its mind.
Wang Chong had also noticed something else strange. The monster’s life energy was extremely weak, almost the same as an insect’s. It was basically a corpse.
Despite the monster’s formidable hostility, Wang Chong didn’t take it seriously. He had grasped its methods of attack and movement, so it could no longer threaten him.
Buzz!
Wang Chong took two steps forward, but then he suddenly sensed something and stopped, grimacing.
Around Wang Chong, several hundred feet away, four identical human-shaped creatures had emerged, snarling as they gripped their large scythes and slowly approached him.
Bzzz! In front of Wang Chong, black mist began to seep out of the injured monster, wrapping around its entire body. A moment later, the monster became as indistinct as a shadow to Wang Chong’s senses.
The same transformation occurred with the other monsters.
Splash! Hiss! The lava around him became restless, and a few seconds later, massive fire snakes reminiscent of the fire men appeared at the feet of the five human-shaped monsters.
Hisss!
One of the fire snakes opened its mouth and spat out a gout of golden flame that caused black smoke to rise from the ground.
Wang Chong’s heart shivered. He could tell that the golden flame was at least seven thousand degrees, hot enough to hurt even an expert like Wang Chong!
The five bizarre human-shaped monsters and these fire snakes immediately made the bottom of the well into a dangerous trap.
“Wang Chong, how is it?” A voice came from above.
But it made Wang Chong grimace. It was Gao Xianzhi’s voice. There was no doubt that Gao Xianzhi and the others had no longer been able to restrain themselves after his long period of silence and had decided to come down.
Wang Chong had the ‘True World’ ability and the Greater Void Step, and he was also at the Subtle realm, so there was nothing he needed to fear. But the same could not be said for Gao Xianzhi and the others. They would probably sustain heavy injuries upon first contact with these human-shaped monsters, which could even affect their conquest of Arabia.

With no time to think, Wang Chong raised his head and sharply cried out, “You go up first! It’s dangerous here!”
At this moment, the air trembled as the five human-shaped monsters and the giant fire snakes lunged toward Wang Chong.
Fwoosh! Several dozen fire snakes opened their mouths and fired gouts of searing flame at Wang Chong.
But the five human-shaped monsters moved even faster.
Swish! The five scythes sliced through the air from five different directions, each as fast as a lightning bolt.
If struck, Wang Chong would probably be instantly sliced into five.
“Success! Hurry!” the Nightmare Beast suddenly called out in Wang Chong’s mind.
Boom! Wang Chong called out the Heavenly Mandate Battle Armor, exploded with Stellar Energy, and rocketed upward.
Clang! Clang! Two of the scythes bounced off the Heavenly Mandate Battle Armor, but Wang Chong managed to dodge the others.
Down below, the battle did not stop simply because Wang Chong had shot into the air. Bereft of their target, not only did the human-shaped monsters not pursue, they began to attack each other.
Metal shrieked against metal as the scythes collided, the human-shaped monsters madly slashing and slicing.
Thud! Thud! It wasn’t long before the human-shaped monsters had beheaded each other and dropped to the ground.
Only one was left standing, but it was also heavily injured. Soon, it dropped to the ground, the black smoke around it fading away.
The Nightmare Beast’s immense Psychic Energy and natural abilities had finally taken effect.
While Wang Chong had been fighting, the Nightmare Beast had been attempting to find the weakness in these human-shaped monsters. Finally, it had succeeded.
“Don’t let it die! I need to see its memories!” Wang Chong called out just when the human-shaped monster was about to roll into the lava.
Buzz!
The heavily injured monster’s body that was just about to jump into the lava went stiff and then slowly kneeled.
Wang Chong descended from the sky and landed in front of it.
Mental control and reading memories were two completely different abilities. The latter required a far finer control and would deal more damage to the recipient.
Buzz!
Wang Chong reached out and placed his hand on the back of the monster’s head. His eyes flashed as he sent his Psychic Energy rumbling into its mind.
As the Nightmare Beast had already broken in, Wang Chong encountered barely any resistance, only a sliver at the core.
The core containing its memories was only the size of a sesame seed, but it was surrounded by a steely sealing energy.
“I tried to probe this area earlier, but as it had nothing to do with controlling its body and solely concerned memories, I put it aside,” the Nightmare Beast told Wang Chong.
The Nightmare Beast relied purely on its natural talents to devour memories, but it was somewhat lacking when facing special seals added by formidable Psychic Energy practitioners, only able to use brute force. Wang Chong was much more flexible in this aspect.
“What an ancient seal!”
Wang Chong half-closed his eyes and quickly understood the nature of this sealing energy. This was an ancient psychic art called the ‘Ring of Musa’. It was lost in the current era and almost completely unknown, but in the High Priest’s memories, Wang Chong had found information on the Ring of Musa, including the way to undo it, though it was not complete.
Wang Chong immediately began to form his Psychic Energy into a golden ring covered with complex symbols. The ring trembled before rapidly shr
inking into the monster’s mind.
Thump! Wang Chong managed to create a gap in the Ring of Musa for a few moments, allowing him to enter.
It’s a fragmented mind!
A thought suddenly occurred to Wang Chong.
The memories within the Ring of Musa were in tatters, but they all concerned the lives of these monsters.
Wang Chong quickly sent his mind into a mental fragment.
“Ah!”
There was a great shout, and then Wang Chong saw countless figures wearing long white robes. They appeared both similar and dissimilar to Arabs, and they spoke in frantic and anxious tones in a language much older than Arabic.
In another direction, Wang Chong saw the human-shaped monster that he was currently controlling.
No! This isn’t some monster, but a pure human!
There appeared to be some conflict between the two sides that had everyone enraged.
Just when the two sides were about to fight, the crowd suddenly parted. Several white-robed men had seized a beautiful veiled woman before the man Wang Chong was controlling. The woman was on the verge of tears, and the man himself felt a deep sorrow.
Wang Chong seemed to understand what was going on.
“Ah!”
A moment later, the scene shifted as Wang Chong viewed another mental fragment.
It was a room built of metal. Torches had been planted on the wall, illuminating the numerous white skeletons on the ground. Wang Chong saw the man howling and screaming, four chains having bound his limbs to a large bed made of Deep Sea Xuan Metal.
A man who appeared to be some sort of shaman was holding a special knife. He was carving symbols on the man’s back while muttering chants. A wriggling black substance was seeping out of the knife and into the man’s body, and wisps of black mist were rising out of his body and slowly engulfing him.
A Shadow Fiend!
Wang Chong suddenly learned the name of this bizarre human-shaped monster.
It was a special method of creating a guardian, and judging from the bones on the ground, it had a high rate of failure. This man had been one of the ‘lucky’ ones, or perhaps he was unlucky.
The memories after that were in even greater shambles, the scenes growing more and more indistinct.
After some time, Wang Chong released his palm, allowing the human-shaped monster to fall to the ground.
By breaking the Ring of Musa, Wang Chong had also broken the core that had maintained its life. This ancient human had naturally lost its ability to survive, given all the time that had passed.
Wang Chong had not managed to gain much information from those chaotic memories, but he had still found some useful clues.
“Now let’s see what sort of secrets are hidden down here!”
Wang Chong quickly flew over the lava flows, and a few moments later, he reached the edge of the region. He focused his energy on his foot and stomped down at a certain place in the lava.
Boom!
At the start, this stomp only caused the lava to seethe, but a moment later, a mighty boom came from deep within the earth.
A few moments later, a metal pillar with a diameter of around half a meter began to rise from the lava.
The metal pillar was covered in dazzling and gorgeous inscriptions. Moreover, as the pillar rose, a mysterious energy began to flow through the air, calming the restless lava.
Wang Chong did not pause, but proceeded to the other three corners of the pyramid and did the same. With a great rumble, four pillars of identical size but made of different metals emerged in the southeast, southwest, northeast, and northwest.
Bang!
Wang Chong slapped one of the metal pillars, upon which gears began to click. A moment later, vast torrents of energy surged into the four pillars.
Soon after that, a massive, fiery barrier took form around the four pillars, and pushed away the surrounding lava.
Wang Chong scanned the area and quickly found a door within the barrier.
The seal has already lost effect. This was probably Khatabah’s doing when he first ventured into this place, Wang Chong quietly said to himself.
It was obvious that Wang Chong was not the first guest to this place.
Having defeated the guardians, Wang Chong was no longer in any danger. He swiftly entered the doorway within the fiery barrier.
The bottom of the well was hot and awash with flames, but when Wang Chong passed through the door, he found the interior to be cool and refreshing.
It’s an ancient ruin! This is what was truly left behind by that ancient civilization! Wang Chong remarked to himself.
As he slowly descended from the air, he allowed the luminescent pearl in his hand to float upward and illuminate his surroundings.
This was a massive underground cavern, its walls made of some hard rock that appeared like jade. This rock was further reinforced by a formation, allowing it to persist despite the many years.
During Wang Chong’s slow descent, he spotted a massive metal sphere in the center of the cavern, and then he noticed that the walls were covered in countless words and murals.
Nobody alive could understand the words, but he could still look at the murals.

This is the archive for a civilization. They inscribed all of their civilization on the walls of this cavern! Wang Chong said to himself.
No matter how immense and developed this civilization was, when the time of its destruction was nigh and it wanted to leave behind evidence of its existence so that those who came after would know of it, it could only rely on the simplest of methods. Excessive complexity would place shadow over substance and fail to achieve the desired effect.
Wang Chong carefully examined the murals on the wall. As space was limited, the murals could not record much. In a very concise manner, they recorded the prosperity of this empire and its final destruction at the hands of the Ifrit.
At this moment, the Nightmare Beast said, “Master, take note of that metal sphere in the center. I sense mental ripples from it!”
Wang Chong quickly turned his attention to the sphere.
Not much had been left in these underground ruins. Anything usable had basically all been taken by Khatabah. The metal sphere and the square metal pillar on which it rested were fused to the room, making them impossible to take away.
Wang Chong walked over and placed his hand on the sphere. It felt cold to the touch, but a moment later, an energy erupted from the metal pillar. Wang Chong felt his mind instantly connecting the vast mental presence inside the sphere.
The Kegang Empire!
Wang Chong finally knew the name of this empire of Psychic Energy practitioners that was so closely connected to the World-Destroying Ifrit.
Their developed Psychic Energy arts had led them to have abundant imagination, and the buildings of the Kegang Empire were even more grandiose than those of Arabia. Through the metal sphere, Wang Chong was able to watch as the empire developed from a weak country into a great power, was able to see their countless majestic buildings with their bizarre shapes and styles.
The Kegang had apparently been fighting against the Ifrit for many generations. In their fight against the Ifrit, they had developed many kinds of methods, but in the end, the Kegang had not been able to prevent the destruction of their empire.
In the midst of their despair, they had decided to create this secret chamber so that not all marks of their civilization would be destroyed and that their civilization would continue to be passed down. They had also created the Shadow Fiends as guardians of their civilization, protecting these ruins from accidental destruction or invaders.
In addition, even though they couldn’t destroy the Ifrit, by gathering together the strength of all the people in the empire, they had managed to find a way to seal the Ifrit in this place, its place of birth.r />
It was a tough and powerful empire, worthy of respect. While they didn’t have anything like the Xuanyuan Sword that could destroy the Ifrit, at the final moment, they managed to launch the fiercest counterattack against that world-destroying monster! Wang Chong quietly said to himself.
The metal sphere was probably another method the Kegang had developed to preserve their culture. But Wang Chong also made a surprising discovery. The Kegang had gathered a large amount of information and found several ways to deal with the Ifrit. One of these things was called the Ifrit Core.
Apparently, this was the only kind of object that could control the Ifrit and minimize its threat in situations when it could not be killed.
But even though the Kegang spent all their lives searching for this object, they had failed to find it, and thus been unable to avert their demise.
Strange. If Khatabah didn’t get the Ifrit Core from here, where did he get it from? Wang Chong thought to himself as he frowned.
All of the information about Khatabah was there to see. Wang Chong did not believe that he could easily obtain what several generals of the Kegang Empire had failed to achieve despite their best efforts.
Moreover, if Khatabah had obtained the Ifrit Core earlier, he could have summoned the Ifrit long ago. Why had he waited until now?
The High Priest!
Wang Chong suddenly thought of a possible candidate.
The High Priest was the most long-lived and most mysterious character in all of the Arabian Empire. The Arabs themselves were not sure of his exact age.
He would appear at the most crucial of places, and his shadow could even be seen in Khatabah’s ascendancy. Moreover, he also seemed to have a thorough understanding of the Kegang Empire. If there was one man who could have helped Khatabah obtain the Ifrit Core, it was probably the High Priest.
The only thing that Wang Chong found strange was that even though Wang Chong had defeated the High Priest and seized his Forbidden Art Sea, obtaining almost all of his knowledge of the psychic arts, he had found nothing regarding the Ifrit Core.
Wait! Even though I defeated him and absorbed a lot of his Psychic Energy, I didn’t obtain a single memory of his!
