They all were put together in a huge hall and given comfortable beds to rest in. As soon as they lay on the bed they fell asleep. They were being watched by two men. “What do you think will happen to them” asked the old man who used to live in the village out there “I do not know. I am not interested in future, I am a collector of past and present.” Said the man who had talked to those men sleeping comfortably “Will they all return” “I would like it to happen that way but I don’t worry too much about future. It takes away the pleasure of living and enjoying the present.” “I think the second team will reach there in some time from now.” “Yes have them ready; they are in for a big surprise.” “Don’t you think they should be told about this” “No then it talk away the charm. I would like them to decipher what happened. It would a test for them and I would also enjoy seeing the surprise on their faces. Lal Singh is sure that Amit has been chosen to stay here. It would be a shock to him when he would found out that someone else is missing and Amit is with him” “You have always been a mischievous person. Even at this age you have not grown up, always behaving like a child” “Why should I kill my inner child? It always has been fun seeing surprise on the face of men when they least expect the things which happen to them.” “Do you think he is ready” asking about the man whom they have chosen to keep in this place “I was not my call alone. The group had decided in unison and I have taken a decision based on finds of people who I know are best in this regard” “Hopefully it would be a good decision but I fear how about the reaction out there” “You worry to much.” Said the man who was older of the two “Even with the wisdom of so many years you think too much about the reactions out side. They will forget about it soon enough. They have too much going on in their lives to bother upon a missing man. And the beauty of the whole thing is that they wont even realize that he is missing.” “What about him. Won’t he miss his family? He loves them too much” “If he is ready he won’t miss them. He would see the bigger picture. He is already living a life of a monk.” “Are you sure about the young agent? Is he ready for such huge task?” “I have never felt surer. He would turn out to be the find of the ages. And we will take all the precautions before taking him in. After all this would be our next big thing after we shifted here. And will do anything to endanger it.” He was serious. “When it is time do what you have to do” said and went away The old man who used to live in the village outside was left thinking about the turn o events. He knew he would miss the life he lived out in the village. Now he would have to find a new place to live as he was not very comfortable living in here. He has already found a tiny hamlet in south of India where he was born and a place in the Northeast. He would take his decision soon after this matter outlives it longevity. He was not sure how these men here would take the decision made by the man who was just standing there. He always felt awe in front of him. He was always an introvert so he never developed the courage to be friendly with him. He not even knew the name of the man leave along his age. But he was certain that in him he has seen the longest living man on earth. And for this he would always feel proud of. Would he ever be able to know who the man is, is a question that always come to his mind but he is too much afraid to ask the direct question. And he also knew that even he gets to know the truth it may not come out as something too significant. Now they are going through one of the most significant period in the history of the organization and he was glad that he is inside than outside to see for himself how the history would be rewritten again. He knew there would be some changes in their records as some who are missing would be put in and some new records would be added. There is a long gap in the history of man kind which even they do know nothing off, a period of dark and unimaginable that it had been completely wiped out of the memory of man kind. Now they would get a glimpse of that horrid past. He hoped that nothing significant occurred in that era but knew that mere existence of man kind at that time and its continuity beyond those dark ages was significant enough. Humanity has a habit of taking itself out even from the darkest of pits it digs itself in. Some time after they had slept for more than one hour someone said “Its time” and some else did what he had to do. “They won’t be feeling good about this” he thought doing what he did.
