The One I Want Page 5

“That was the point.” He chuckled, then sat back on his feet. “Get what you need.”

Cameron leaned forward and curled his fingers under Josh’s chin. “I got him.”

“Nice.” He kissed the inside of Cameron’s wrist. “I want to ride.”

Cameron’s eyes flashed. He let go of Josh long enough to rummage through the nightstand.

Instead of watching Cameron, Josh stood. He yanked his shirt off and shoved his pants and briefs to the floor. When he stepped out of the wadded-up clothing, he wobbled. He glanced over his shoulder. The dogs had joined him and Cameron in the bedroom and were curled up together on the dog bed.

Cameron grasped Josh’s hand and mashed his face into Josh’s belly. He left a path of fire in his wake. He muffled his moans against Josh’s abs and wound his fingers around his dick.

“That feels good.” Josh cupped the back of Cameron’s head. “I’m so ready for you.”

Cameron continued to nuzzle Josh’s body and stopped at his cock. He flattened his tongue across the end of Josh’s erection, then glanced up at him. Josh bit back a groan. He nodded. Cameron grinned and sucked Josh to the back of his throat.

“Fuck me.” Josh wobbled again. He sizzled to his core and panted. “Cam.”

“Right here,” Cameron said around his penis. He swallowed Josh again and bobbed his head. At the last second, he hummed.

Josh tensed. He wanted to come with Cameron, not on him. Still, he didn’t want the moment to end. Cameron knew how to blow his mind. Cameron raked his teeth along the underside of Josh’s dick before he sucked hard on the end. Josh’s concentration snapped and he gritted his teeth. Damn, he was in trouble. He tipped his head back. “You’re so good.”

Cameron let go of Josh’s cock with a pop. “Too close to the edge?”

Josh opened his eyes and stared at Cameron. “Huh?” After a moment, he realized what Cameron had said. “Yes, damn it.” He took control and nudged Cameron onto the bed, then crawled on top of him. “I almost came.”

“That was the idea.” Cameron kissed him. “I wanted you to.”

“Not yet.” Josh mashed his mouth onto Cameron’s and when Cameron opened to him, he sucked on his tongue. Two could play the temptation game. He ground his crotch against Cameron’s. The delicious friction of dick on dick would be his undoing. Another shimmer of heat slid through him.

Cameron raked his nails over Josh’s ass.

Josh ripped his mouth free. “Oh, shit. Yes. I want you inside me.” He wanted Cameron on the edge with him.

“Climb on.” Cameron swatted Josh’s hip.

“Fuck me.” He scrambled off Cameron’s lap, then tore open the condom packet. He sheathed Cameron. “Won’t take long. Do it.”

“Only after I prep you.” Cameron sat up again. “On your hands and knees.”

“I don’t want to wait.” He craved Cameron too much.

“Tough.” Cameron swatted Josh’s hip again. “Now.”

Despite wanting to argue for another moment, Josh settled into place. He waggled his ass. “Ready.” He sounded snotty. When Cameron grinned, Josh’s heart hammered. He loved the interplay between them.

“Breathe for me.” Cameron dribbled lube over the seam of Josh’s butt. “Josh.”

How could Cameron sound so calm? Josh tried to relax, but desire overwhelmed him. He tensed as Cameron breached his hole and worked the chilly lube into it. His need for Cameron ratcheted back up. “Cam.”

“I’m going slowly.” Cameron pressed a kiss to Josh’s back. “I’m with you.” He pushed deeper, filling Josh. “Stay with me.”

Josh clutched the sheets. He didn’t want to be anywhere else. He rocked into Cameron.

“You’re so horny.” Cameron kissed Josh’s lower back again. “Get yourself ready.” He pumped his fingers into Josh, pushing nearly all the way in before pulling most of the way out.

Josh lost himself for a moment in the rhythm of Cameron’s movements. He moaned. “Do me.”

“Soon.” Cameron continued opening and prepping him with his fingers.

Each stretch burned, but Josh didn’t care. His thoughts blurred. He couldn’t hold on for much longer. “Now. Please?”

“Yeah.” Cameron withdrew and added more lube to Josh’s hole. “Breathe.”

Although he couldn’t see what Cameron was doing, he felt the pressure of Cameron’s dick pushing into his backside. Cameron moved slow, going inch by inch until he was within Josh.

“Shit, you’re tight. Grabbing me,” Cameron said.

“Because I like you.” He bowed his head. “More.”

“I will.” Cameron grasped Josh’s hips. He eased his cock most of the way out, then plunged back in. Within seconds, he built up a steady rhythm again.

Josh bucked and rode Cameron’s erection. He liked the way Cameron caressed him from within. His senses heightened. The squeak of the springs kept in time with Cameron’s thrusts. Josh noticed the snorts of the dogs while they slept. When he pressed his face into Cameron’s sheets, he smelled Cameron’s cologne. His ass burned from being so full, but being with Cameron relaxed him. A wave of pleasure swirled in his brain. He groaned and pushed back each time Cameron sank into him.

“Jesus, fuck.” Cameron’s grasp tightened. His speed increased and he dug his fingernails into Josh’s skin. “I’m close.”

“Good. I am, too.” Josh whimpered. He needed to fall apart. He wished he’d turned over so he could look into Cameron’s eyes when he climaxed.

“Josh.” Cameron slammed into him. “Fucking balls, come with me.”

He hadn’t needed much encouragement. Josh’s restraint snapped. He growled and his balls tightened. The orgasm hit hard and flowed through his body. Another growl ripped from his throat. He shrugged from his head, dick and balls, then toes.

Cameron moaned. “Shit.” His thrusts turned feral and his cock throbbed within Josh. He leaned over Josh and his hot breath tickled Josh’s skin. After a couple more thrusts, he slowed and draped himself across Josh’s back.

Josh basked in the wonderful floaty feeling of orgasm. He settled on the mattress and enjoyed the relative silence. Being with Cameron was everything he’d expected and more.

“I forgot to turn on the music,” Cameron whispered.

“Did someone hear us? Besides the dogs?”

“I’m sure anyone downstairs knew what was going on.” Cameron hugged Josh and kissed the back of his neck. “It’s not the first time and won’t be the last.” He brushed his check between Josh’s shoulder blades as he pulled out. “Shower with me?”

“Next thing I know, you’ll be asking me to stay.” He wasn’t sure why he’d blurted that out.

  “Will you?” Cameron asked.

“Yes.” He rolled onto his back and watched Cameron remove the used condom. He wanted to be with Cameron. No regrets.

  * * * *

Cameron draped the damp towels on the rack and strode nude into the bedroom. He stretched out beside Josh on the bed. He hadn’t believed how much he and Josh were alike but different. Now that they’d jumped the hurdle of sex, he wanted to experience Josh all over again.

“What do we do now?” Josh tangled his legs with Cameron’s.

“What do you mean?” Sleep sounded like a good idea.

“I’m a relationship person. I don’t usually screw on the third date.” Josh tipped his head to look Cameron in the eye. “This was a first for me.”

“I tend to wait a little longer, too.” He kissed Josh. “How about…we’re together? No promises for the moment other than monogamy. Yes? We get to know each other more and if more sex happens…perfect. Right?”

“Yes.” Josh flattened his hand on Cameron’s chest. “I just needed to be sure.”

“Good.” He sighed. “The dogs are asleep and you’re in my bed. I’d say this has been the best date ever.”

“What about tomorrow?” Josh snuggled up to him and ground his crotch against Cameron’s hip. “I’ve got to be at work by ten. It
’s my late morning.”

“I’ve got a meeting with Claire.” Truth be told, he didn’t really want to go to the weekly informal staff gathering. It was the summer. Why can’t he have other plans?

  “Claire?”

“She’s the department chair. We do a brunch on Mondays at Douds. If you’re free, we’ll be there.” He trailed his fingers over Josh’s arm. “I’ll save you a seat.”

  “Nice.”

He bit back a grin. “You asked about her rather quickly. Were you jealous?”

“No…maybe. Are you upset I might have been? For a moment?”

“Things are still new between us. A little jealousy isn’t strange,” Cameron said. “The longer we’re together, the better off we’ll be.”

  “Agreed.”

A wave of tiredness hit Cameron. He closed his eyes and, within moments, drifted off to sleep. He still couldn’t believe he had Josh in his arms. What a great way to end the night.

  Chapter Five

The next morning, Cameron sat at the table at Douds and fought the urge to roll his eyes. While he was at the meeting in body, he wasn’t in spirit. He replayed Josh’s leaving over and over in his mind. The moment seemed like they’d done it a hundred times. Josh leaving for work and Cameron staying behind with the pets. Being together felt right.

The noise in the café grated on Cameron’s nerves. He heard the conversation about the curriculum, then admired the baby pictures passed around the table. He wasn’t sure who the baby belonged to, but he added the required oohs and aahs. He kept an eye out for Josh but wasn’t sure what time his boyfriend took lunch.

He fiddled with his phone and sent a text.

We’re at Douds. Hope you can make it.

Within moments, the reply came from Josh.

I’m on my way. Got a break at the office. Guess none of the computers are on the fritz and they’re allowing me to leave for a little while. <3

His heart hammered. Josh would be there. Part of him didn’t want to force Josh to meet his coworkers, but the rest of him couldn’t wait for the introductions. He fidgeted in his seat and watched for his boyfriend. Instead of Josh, Lance strolled up to the table. What the hell is he doing here?

Lance sat beside Cameron in the place he’d saved for Josh. “Hey, you.”

“Hi. I thought the seventh-grade teachers were going on a team-building retreat this week.” Cameron toyed with the straw in his water glass. “Did they move it?”

“We aren’t leaving until tomorrow.” Lance draped his arm across the back of Cameron’s chair. He rubbed Cameron’s arm. “I had to see you before we left.”

“Why?” He twisted in his seat. With Lance there, he couldn’t see the door. “You and I aren’t anything.” He sniffed the air. “Have you been…?” He couldn’t say the word drinking. He might not be Lance’s biggest fan, but he didn’t want to get him fired.

“No. I’m hungover from last night.” Lance leaned in close. He caressed the hairs at the base of Cameron’s skull. “We’re not close right now, but we should be.”

“No.” He swatted Lance’s hand away. “I’m not getting rid of my dog. He’s more loyal than you’ll ever be.”

Lance held on to Cameron’s fingers. “I’ve missed you.” He kissed the back of Cameron’s hand. “We were good together.”

Cameron noticed the glint in Lance’s eye and the kink at the corner of his mouth. “What are you grinning about?”

“Just the problem that left,” Lance said.

Problem? Cameron glanced over his shoulder. Josh stood by the counter and shook his head. He turned on his heel and left. Cameron scrambled to leave his chair, but Lance grabbed his arm.

“Don’t bother. He’s gone.” Lance stood with Cameron and dropped his voice to a whisper. “Besides, you’ll make a scene in front of our coworkers. Sit down and let him go.”

Let him go? Was Lance kidding? Cameron massaged his forehead and sat down. Maybe Lance was right. If he ran out of the building, the other teachers would talk, but most of them would understand. He pushed his food around on the plate and ignored Lance. When the bill came, he paid his portion and left a tip, then motioned Nancy, the head of the history department, aside.

“I meant to speak to you.” Nancy nodded to the door. “What’s with you and Lance? Please tell me you’re not seeing him again.”

  “I’m not.” He frowned. “Why?”

“I love you, honey, I do. You’re my favorite eighth-grade history teacher, so I’ll be honest. He’s not a good influence on you,” Nancy said. “When you’re together, you shrink. He takes over everything. You’re not happy and I want to see you that way again. He shows up and drives me crazy…just like today. You didn’t invite him, did you?”

  “I didn’t and I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize for things you haven’t done.” She clapped him on the shoulder. “Now, what did you want to discuss?”

“I wanted to apologize for him showing up, but it’s a moot point.” He sighed. “I did invite my new boyfriend, but when he saw Lance, he left.”

“Darn. Is he a dog person?”

“Yes.” Cameron smiled, despite his heart breaking a little. He hadn’t wanted to hurt Josh. “His dog Dolly and Winston are pals.”

“And you’re together? That’s sweet.” She walked out to the parking lot with him. “I saw someone dart out. He looked cute.” She stopped by his car. “Give him time to cool off. If he really likes you, he’ll understand.”

“I have the worst luck with men.” He couldn’t shake the worry he’d screwed up and hadn’t done anything wrong.

“Don’t count Lance. Someone will sort him out eventually. Just worry about you and this new guy.” She winked. “I’ll see you next week—and bring the new man. We’d love to meet him.”

Cameron didn’t move right away. She’d stunned him. She’d seen the real man and believed in him. He leaned against the fender of his car. The only way he’d fix the situation with Josh was to meet up with him. No texts or showing up at work. He’d been to Josh’s apartment. Maybe if he and Winston visited him they’d be able to explain. Maybe. He climbed behind the wheel of his car. Josh meant too much to let him go because of a misunderstanding.

  * * * *

Josh sucked in a ragged breath. Cameron wasn’t alone. Of course not. He’d invited Josh to the tail end of a staff meeting. Other teachers would be there. Cameron must’ve felt strongly enough about him to introduce him to his coworkers. If that was the case, then why did the guy next to Cameron seem so cozy? Josh couldn’t read Cameron’s expression. Damn it.

It didn’t matter. Josh wasn’t going to stick around to find out. Cam’s words came back to him. Cameron was the boyfriend type. Ah, but whose boyfriend is he? Did Josh even have an argument here? He’d said they should have monogamy and be together, but they were free to test things out. Was this Cameron’s way of testing?

He couldn’t do this—couldn’t be here watching Cameron with someone else. He’d left Dolly at home. No, he should head back to let her out. His dog loved him, even if she did have a thing for Winston.

He hurried to his car without looking back. He could’ve sworn he heard someone call his name. Then again, that could be wishful thinking.

Josh tamped down his anger and frustration. He smacked the steering wheel. If Cam didn’t want to see only him…then…fuck. He should’ve sorted out exactly what he wanted from Cameron.

He stopped at the traffic light. The console screen flashed with an incoming message. He pushed the button for the speech version of the text to play. The computerized man’s voice filled the interior of the car.

“From Ridley at SG&G. Need to speak to you re the Partner Ball. Also have tablet for you to fix. Help? Come by office at first convenience.”

He rolled his eyes. The legal team sure knew how to screw up technology. And now they wanted him to come in on his day off? Again? Fuck. He shook his head and turned onto the main drag toward the legal office. Working o
n the tablet would give him something to do and get his mind off Cameron. He should grab Dolly first, but she wasn’t welcome at the office.

He sped across town to his work and parked in his assigned spot. He hated going in on his days off, but he’d rather be busy than not. He headed inside. Ridley stood in Josh’s hallway.

“You’re quick,” Ridley said. He grinned. “You knew I needed this fixed, didn’t you?”

“I got the message while I was already out and about. What’s wrong with the tablet?” He nodded to the device. “Didn’t you just buy that?” He’d eyed the newest version of the tablet, but the steep price tag kept him from making the purchase.

“My wife bought it and subsequently dropped it in the sink. She was reading while getting ready.” Ridley shrugged. “We did the rice thing. Won’t turn on.”

He gestured to his office. “I’ll look at it, but no guarantees. If these things get submerged and aren’t waterproof, you’re pretty much screwed. Water and tech generally don’t mix.”

“I know. She was reading a brief while putting on her makeup.” Ridley followed Josh into the room. “Mind if I talk while you work?”

“I don’t mind. Go ahead. Something wrong?” He preferred silence, but he could tune Ridley out if needed.

“It’ll be in a memo, but the Partners Ball this year… It’s been decided there aren’t any members ready for partnership, so we’re celebrating the staff and being in existence as a firm for twenty years.” Ridley sat on the edge of Josh’s desk. “It’ll still be a formal. We want reservations like last year and will be at the same place. Oh, and you’re all encouraged to bring a plus one—just not your dog.”

He glared at Ridley. “I love Dolly, but I know the limits and that sounds strange.”

“Ever since Lacey brought her parakeet to the staff meetings, I’ve decided to err on the side of caution,” Ridley said. “Only documented service animals.”

“Understood.” He fiddled with the tablet. They’d dried the device out and the mechanisms engaged, but the screen itself wouldn’t turn on. He sighed. She’d shorted something out and he wasn’t sure where.
