Josh never forgot that. The Toledo boy found in the 17th street location in 2021 was likely Josh Wagy’s second victim. The building is currently being excavated, and it is believed more remains will be found.
Josh Wagy was searching for a family with the boys he lured. And that family was snuffed out. Over and over again. In front of him.
It is no wonder Josh turned into a monster himself. He continued the perverse violence that he was taught.
Knowing why doesn’t offer comfort for victims or their families. Nor does it bring anyone back.
At the time of this taping, police have charged Josh Wagy with three kidnappings and three murders.
He is currently under suicide watch, awaiting a competency hearing.
This is The Cold Trail. I’m Kendra Dillon.
He’d watched the dot on the GPS tracker. It had not moved.
After work she’d traveled to that little hovel.
He watched the ping stay there, one hour, and then two.
There was not a single reason why she should be at the Wagy household that long.
Her stories were completed.
That was when he put it together. Monsters recognize monsters. He smiled at that revelation.
He wasn’t going to let a minor player in their lives have the final act.
But if he appeared at the Wagy home and saved Kendra, well, that would be suspicious too.
He’d have to reveal how he knew where she was.
So, he called in the tip.
Anonymously. It was brilliant! As usual.
He disguised his voice when he called Sheriff Meriwether.
“Kendra Dillon is at the Wagy household. She should be checked on.”
Everyone was so relieved that it all worked out so perfectly that no one questioned his anonymous tip. Maybe they would, but it was a tip that saved a life. Best not to question good fortune.
All was as it should be. They had a happy ending.
The Sheriff rode in and saved the day.
But he knew the truth.
Kendra lived or died by his hand, no other.
And today, she would live.
Kendra could thank him later, some moment of his choosing, when she vanished.
