He was doing great, though. She had to hand it to her little brother. When he put his mind to something, he went at it full force.
“I’m still a mogul,” she said to Liam, waving a hand at their surroundings. “Just on a smaller scale. But no, I don’t miss it. I have everything I need right here.”
Liam smiled and kissed her again, and in that moment, her mother’s voice tickled at her memory— tha erthei pali ei aniksi.
Spring will come again.
Evie could almost feel her presence, and she knew deep down that her mom would have loved Liam . . . loved the life that she’d chosen for herself.
She’d been lost in the cold darkness of winter for so long, but now, even as the trees rustled in the brisk wind, and the chill of fall shimmered through the air. She felt warm. She smiled up at Liam and knew her life was just beginning.
