I think Scott’s fear of my bed was also conveniently forgotten within that hour, but I knew it wasn't gone forever and I would be off to buy a new bed in the next few days. Anything to keep my Scottish lover happy.

As we lay there in each other's arm both completely exhausted now, with little energy left we did somehow find it in ourselves to take a shower. It did feel good no longer carrying the weight of my dress. The material it was made out of was not at all body odour friendly either.

As we lay in bed tired but clean, Scott turned the bedside lamp off and said. “Well Sassenach, another adventure down. What will be next I wonder?”

“Oh, Scott our next adventure tonight will only be happening in our dreams as that’s where I'm heading to right now.”

“Might see you there” Scott replied.

“Of course, you are always in my dreams Scott, you always have been even before I met you, I knew you were out there. See dreams can really come true if you dream hard enough.” I said, and with that Scott kissed me and I fell asleep in the arms of my dreamy Scottish lover.

Life doesn't get much better than this. I’m sure Scott would also agree once we have purchased that new bed of course.

  Chapter Twenty Seventeen

  Our Clan

We awoke the next morning to our bed bouncing up and down.

I was in the middle of a dream where I was on a ship in a storm holding on for dear life, as I watched Scott trying to get the ship under control at the helm.

It was a familiar scene for some reason. I felt like I had been here before. The dream had felt even more real with the feeling of Polly and Leah Jumping up and down on the bed trying to wake Scott and I up.

The motion felt like big wave crashing up against the ship making the dream feel even more real.

As I came to and re-entered the real world I saw my two daughters faces beaming with delight to see their mummy and their Scott back home.

They brought us into a group hug as we sat up in bed still rubbing our eyes. This family of 3 was now back to a family of 4 with the new addition of Scott and we all couldn't be happier to have him here with us.

As we sat embraced in our Clan hug we felt another strong force attach itself to the hug. We felt more arms wrapping themselves around the already formed hug that was in progress on top of this bed that needed to be replaced to remove old memories.

I squeezed my head out of the group hug to be greeted with the two more bright beaming faces that looked just as delighted to see us home. It was Sophie and James. They jumped up onto the bed and joined in with the Clan hug that was already happening.

“Well what a lovely welcome home greeting” I said.

“Aye I think we were well missed in the 2 days we were gone.” Scott replied.

“Well of course we all missed you, you two were only meant to be away for one night.” Sophie said.

“We should have known it was never going to be one night with these two.” James joked.

Everybody laughed until we heard a snap then another then more snaps as the wooden slats of the bed base started breaking one by one. We felt the feeling of falling as the mattress fell through the base and onto the ground. “Wahoo lets go bed shopping.” Scott yelled in excitement as we all landed on the floor in a fit of laughter.

As Sophie, James, Polly and Leah regathered and pulled themselves up off the floor, Scott whispered in my ear “Look It’s a sign, your old life just snapped away one by one Letticia, time to build new slates with me, your Scottish lover.”

How could I refuse such an offer I thought? “It is either a sign or it’s the fact I have two huge strong mighty Scottish men in my bed at the same time that bought the bed crashing down.” I teased.

“Oh, see dreams really do come true don't they?” Scott said cheekily.

  Chapter Twenty Eight

  The Ring

Scott and James were in the kitchen cooking up a storm for breakfast. I had to remind myself how I got to have two Scottish men on my bed now I have two Scottish Men in my kitchen cooking my family a full Scottish Breakfast. My life is complete I thought. I had always been Scottish at heart for as long as I could remember. Even as a little girl I was drawn to the Scottish culture, with its tartan material, magical sounds of the bagpipes, hearty meals, the Scottish accents and the beautiful landscapes Scotland had up for offer.

I was looking forward to our breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausages, buttered toast, baked beans and black pudding and a nice strong coffee. But first I had to sort this broken bed out and get rid of it to make room for the new one.

These were the slats that used to hold Paul and I up every night as we slept together. Happily, at first, not so much towards the end. I could see where Scott was coming from. It was time to get a whole new bed including a mattress that just belonged to us and for us to make new memories. It must be very strange sleeping in the same bed that used to belong to your new partners ex husband

Sophie was left helping me pick up all the broken slats off the bedroom floor. Sophie was piled up high with slats and was about to go put them in the outside bin when all of a sudden, she lost her balance and tripped over Scott’s open suitcase lying on the floor.

Slats went flying everywhere as Sophie fell right into Scott’s suitcase, her hair was now covering her face. She blew her hair away so she could see what was digging into her thigh. She delved and searched for this mysterious object with her hand, whatever it was, it felt rather uncomfortable underneath her. All the while I was watching her and trying to contain myself from laughing at such a sight, until she pulled something out from under her. It was a ring that had fallen out of the box it was meant to be in.

She studied it carefully for a few seconds before looking up at me with a smile and said. “Letticia do you know what this is?”

I replied, “Well yeah it’s a ring, I have seen plenty of rings in my time Sophie.”

“Well yeah, but it's not just any ring this is a Scottish Thistle wedding ring, Look at the beautiful thistle design all around it. Girl you are about to get proposed to.” Sophie tried to whisper but couldn't keep her voice down. She was excited, she was feeling the way I should have been feeling. I on the other hand was in shock. Scott knew it was too soon, I told him we still had more chapters to write before we got to the wedding chapter. “

  “What was he thinking?”

A little part of me was feeling very angry towards Scott for not respecting my wants or needs. In fact it was the first time I had actually felt this way towards Scott. Sophie was confused, she was wondering why we were both not jumping for joy like two teenage girls squealing holding hands. Sophie was still sitting awkwardly in the suitcase and I was still frozen like a statue unable to move.

Just then we heard the two Scottish men in the kitchen yell out. “Aye come get it while it's hot, breakfast is served lassies.”

I ordered Sophie to quickly return the ring where she found it and to get up for breakfast and pretend we know nothing. Sophie did as she was told but was not at all happy about it. She saw this as a good thing and was confused as to why I was so extremely against the idea. It didn’t seem to cross her mind that although Paul and I were no longer together we were still married at the present. And with that we left the room with stone looking faces and our lips sealed.

I fully knew the next chapters were going to be eventful, one way or the other. I just didn't know which way it was going to go. Time will tell, don't they say? Still trying to work out who says that, but I believe they are right.

  Let the next chapters continue!
