‘Thank you for coming. Is there anything else we need to take care of?’
‘Not as long as you’re going to be all right.’
‘Oh, I will be. But I think I’d like to be on my own for a while to get used to the changes this will bring.’
Ross stood up and scowled at his ex. ‘Best of luck with Nonie Jayne, Edward. You’ll need it.’ He followed Lara out, running to catch her up.
When she didn’t speak, he didn’t either, just walked beside her.
At the houses he stopped. ‘Want company or not?’
‘Yes, please. Just to be together. I thought I was used to all the changes but now it’s changed again.’
‘Good changes this time, though.’
She smiled at him. ‘Yes, but you know what? You’re the best change of all, Ross, so much more important than the money.’
