Tenelle: Children of the Gods Book 2 Page 16

by Patricia Halladay

“Shit that has to be bad! I have studied some of the human religious practices and if their god and devil are agreeing on something then that is not good that it scares them.” Watson says. Nadia circles around again and I see the demons Apollo was talking about, they are working with the Shadow walkers and amplifying their abilities. When the Shadow walker goes into Trin, then comes back out he or she leaves the demon behind, while they get to safety. This causes a temporary break in attacks from Trin, as he is fighting the demons in his head. Giving the grounders and other Silver Shadow clan warriors time to set up for another attack or get out to safety to have wounds tended to.

I start to see the tiny lights of the Shadow Bright’s appear and then see Earth dragons move in to where the bright is telling them there are survivors. So far all the dens have had the families come out with just scrapes and bruises. That is until I hear a roar and look to see the little lynx trying to get into his den. Fearing the worst, I don’t wait for Nadia to land the chariot, I jump from a good 400 feet up. I hear screams of my name, and then my wings come out my back and catch the current. I pull them in tight and slam into the collapsed den, and as soon as I feel Laura I shift into her to make sure she is ok.

“Laura are you ok? Please be ok!” I ask in her mind and I start to draw from the energy from around us.

“Tenelle, my leg is pinned. Otherwise I am ok. Is Brock ok? I can’t find him; he was in his lynx form when the den started to collapse running for the door.” Laura asks trying to shift herself.

“He was why I nosedived into your den; he is crying at the blocked off entrance.” I say.

“Tenelle, I have a very upset little cub out here. What do I do?” Levi asks through our bond.

“Keep him with you and away from the battle. I have his mother; her leg is pinned under some debris can you get an earth dragon to come help us?” I asked.

“Yep, a giant ass worm is coming now. At least that is what he told me to tell you.” Levi says with a chuckle.

“Rock! Thank you Levi!” I shout. I shift out of Laura and then Jade, and three other Shadow Brights come to give us some light. I can hear loud growls, thumping and roars above us.

“Trin is not doing so well, with the demons helping my brother and his clan. Trin’s dragon mind is quickly loosing strength. His human side should be destroyed by then too.” Jade says.

“Jade his dragon ripped apart his human body. He is completely dragon now; it’s why he is so big and not that little shit he always has been. He has gone rogue.” I tell her, causing her face to grow in anger. Just as I can see Jade starting to go dark, Rock appears behind Laura freeing her leg. He helps Laura to the surface and then closes the den up like what Ella would have done. Haze comes over with a small cub curled up between his shoulders asleep. When Laura is carried over Brock wakes up immediately and jumps to his mother. He settles into her arms and goes back to sleep.

“Rock there is an emergency cavern just past the rock there to the right. Have someone or yourself take her and the cub into it to get out of here. It will take her to Tiger Lily Pride.” I say just as a grounder comes running over. He looks like he was crying.

“Thank the gods you are alright Laura! I thought I lost both you and our youngest son.” The grounder says scooping Laura up from Rock.

“I am ok Dane, where is Luca and Matthew? Are they ok?” Laura says and places her hand on his cheek. Calming the swirl of emotions in his eyes. He is her second chance mate; I am happy for Laura.

“They are waiting for us at Tiger Lily, I came back to look for you. When I saw our den but couldn’t find you and Brock, it scared me that I had lost my mate and littlest one.” Dane says, he looks at me and bows, he runs to where I told Rock to take Laura and Brock. The cavern opens up, just as they step in Trin sends a fire ball at them. I jump in front and spread my wings, this time I used my owl body and grew as big as possible. I redirected the fire back at Trin, with him being blind in the left eye, he didn’t see it come back until it was too late. That is when I notice his one wing looks funny and realize it’s the broken wing from Talisa, Nyssa and Jessica attacking him when he hurt Ram.

“Mitchel target his right wing! It’s the one Nimara daughters broke!” I mind-link my mate.

“Nice! I will let the others know!” He sends back as there is a loud roar and the grounders scatter with Trin gaining some strength. It is short lived, because when he goes to burn them with his flame a dome goes up around him and directs it back at himself. Just as the dome releases he is hit with massive blue flame and lightning in one, and it aimed at his right wing. I watch as Enox throws another flame at him, this time it was more electrical then flame. It was also purple, brown, bronze, and blue, it surprised me and when I look to the sky, I see more dragons coming to aid in the fight, and I am not talking 20 or 30, there is hundreds of them. There are some white wolves running in and out of the fight, but they are carrying injured gargoyles and wolves from the area so that we don’t lose too many if possible.

“Nice ride Sweets!” Nimara says coming to me when my chariot lands behind me. Watson and Nadia are out of it and behind me also.

“Not now Nimara, we need to end this. Did everyone in the clan make it to safety and where is Ella? He is here for her.” I say to my clan leader.

“No unfortunately some of the children are injured and I figured he would come for her, so I told Geo, Ella and Thor to get at it and mate like rabbits!” Nimara says with a straight face, I nod and hope I can heal the children of their nightmares after this. A piercing screech goes all around, and I have to cover my ears, Vixen has ripped Trin’s left wing off his body. She doesn’t stop there and goes for his injured right wing. She doesn’t get a strong hold and Trin is able to dig his claws into her ribs. She roars with the pain and it has caused me to have enough.

“Apollo, help me please.” I run to his chariot and we take off.

“What is it you need little cousin?” He asks as he steers us up into the sky with a perfect line of sight.

“Your flaming arrows please.” I ask and bring my bow from my satchel. He hands me one, I string it and take aim. As Trin pulls his claw back to hit Vixen again, I release the string. “Enox, Mitchel send your fire and magic with the arrow!” I send out as the arrow goes flying straight at Trin’s chest. A ball of blue flame and deep purple magic blend together as it hits its target and sends Trin backwards. Vixen was lucky enough to be on the ground instead of his back when it hit. When he staggers back to his feet, he is hit with more flames of different colors, spears, and magic. There are hundreds of gargoyles in the sky with Apollo and I, many of them are crimson red.

“Her clan!” I whisper as one comes over and nods to me. “Apollo another arrow please.” I ask and my cousin gives me one that I don’t think my bow is going to survive shooting into the air. I line up again and release, but Apollo’s arrow is not the only one. There are hundreds following it and all aimed at Trin. I drop my bow and open my arms, bringing in the powers of the night realm, my realm, and send it with the arrows. They all turn black flamed and when they hit, there is a loud cry as they each hit Trin’s heart. I watch as he starts to burn from the inside out, with this site Apollo and I land back to the ground. I watch as he fights the flames, he meets my eyes as the flames take over and he falls dead. I wait to make sure he isn’t going to get back up and after a good 10 minutes I know he is gone.

“Solar Celestial Guards! Help those who are injured and bring those of the Silver Shadow kin and our kin to the Great Theater to rest and eat! My mother is waiting for all of you! Clan members please go as well, until we can get your homes rebuilt and can ensure your safety!” I send mind-link to everyone.

“How were you able to do that Tenelle?” Nimara asks me with astonishment.

“I will have to leave unfortunately Nimara, I am Luna to the Solar Celestial clan. Like you I have gained a lot with bonding all those of this bloodline. I am sorry.” I say hoping she isn’t going to be angry with m
e.

“Oh Sweets! I am so proud of you! Of course, I understand. Where are you going to go?” Nimara asks giving me a hug but still looking upset that I will have to leave.

“Why does she have to leave?” Apollo asks coming up to us with Hecate.

“Yes why do you have to leave Tenelle?” Hecate looks worried also.

“I am one of the Leaders to the Solar Celestial Clan, there is roughly about 421 of us. I am not going to impose on Nimara and her clan, that isn’t right. The guys and I will have to go and find our own territory.” I say looking at the gods. I can feel the burn of tears forming in my eyes as I think of leaving my family.

“You know there is unclaimed land that butts up against the ass end of the Great Theater of the Gods. I am sure with a new bloodline found and a powerful goddess being its leader, it will convince the council to grant you the claim. I am also sure that a certain furry ass little lycan will give you the part where the Great Theater is placed.” Apollo says winking at Nimara, who snickers at him.

“Ohh I am sure the sunburnt surfer is right. I think I can give it to you since it’s on the outskirts and it means I still get to see you every day or whenever I want too!” Nimara says to me and then ruffles Apollo’s hair.

“Goddess, the Shadow walkers and dream protectors have started to help the children Trin attacked first. We will help the others as we get each child safe within their dreams.” Zed says stepping out of the shadows.

“Thank you Zed, I was going to ask you to help with that. How is Mic?” I ask looking worried he didn’t make it.

“I am good goddess, just sore. The werewolf blood helped heal me quickly and having the goddess Gaia kick you in the ass to get it jump started helped too.” Mic says and bows to us.

“Ok good, thank you Nimara for helping heal Mic. It is appreciated.” I say grabbing my best friend’s hand.

“Ohh I didn’t help with the blood, that was all his mate, who just so happens to be one of my Elite Warriors. She was a little pushy when she found him, she didn’t want to listen when I told her to calm her ass down.” Nimara says chuckling.

“Still thank you, he is Zed’s Gamma, and he was dying because of what Trin was doing to him.” I say to Nimara. “So Zed, what are you going to do? Your Beta, Gamma and General are all mated to someone from this area now. Will you move the clan this way too?” I say looking at Zed with a smile.

“Actually, we are going to create smaller clans, and each are going to have a territory like the wolf packs. This way, we can spread out, instead of travelling like we do. My clan is almost 6000 strong and the western clan is another 5200 so we usually divided it down the middle. I spoke to the other leader and she thought it was a great idea. We will have a council just like you all do, it will help, so nothing like Cleo happens again.” Zed says, that is when I notice an orb come from the flames. Soon a well-known white Hellhound comes in and takes the soul, but she doesn’t collect him like I would think she normally would. She gives this orb a human shape instead.

“What the bloody fuck?!?” Mic says and I snicker slightly.

“Talisa, what is going on? Why are we able to see him like this and why in hell are you here to collect him?” Nimara ask having a hard time to keep from switching into her lycan.

“Please don’t kill me goddess! I am doing as I was told by Hades, Hypnos, and Morpheus. He gets to make amends before being placed either in the stars to safeguard the world from his mind or he goes to feed the Hell fires. Since he is a dragon by birthright that would actually not be a good thing. So here he is.” Talisa say with shaky legs, Zed takes pity and let her lean against him for support. She is scared shitless of Nimara.

“Start talking you fucked up excuse of a dragon! And you can cut the bullshit, I know more about you then even the council does!” I hiss at Trin’s soul. He looks wide eyed at me, realizing I won’t fall for his tricks. I raise my hand and there is a little star forming in it, this is not a star for placement. It will explode once it gets into the sky and eliminate the soul it carries.

“I did what I did because I wanted to gain power. I know you heard what Mitchel said about not all of us getting stuck with a useless human mate like Mary-Anne. I wasn’t given a chance at having a strong mate. So, I wanted the ability to choose who I would spend the rest of my life with. Only a god can do that, and what better way to be a god then one to rule over all of them. One way or another I will get the power of Chaos and will achieve my goal.” Trin says, even in his spirit he is still mind twisted.

“You know what, I have explained this to you already. So now I will just show you, because in the end you won’t be staying in the heavens.” I say grabbing his soul and taking him up. I have also attached the dying star to him so once I am done, it will explode and eliminate his soul. This is the only way to ensure every ones safety. I take him to the emptiest spot in the stars. It is here that Chaos rests, the small soul I spoke to days ago, is actually still here waiting.

“Ah, Trin Walters, it is nice to meet you. I see you attempted absolute power and failed like so many have over the eons that I have rested here. I know that Tenelle has told you that I no longer hold my powers, and she is correct. I have passed them on to a lucky few who I deemed worthy.” Chaos says causing Trin to shake in frustration.

“Why would you do that? Had I have of been able to get here, then I could have had your power to give the right to everyone to choose their mate instead of it being decided for them.” Trin snaps, his soul was destroyed when given Mary-Anne for a mate.

“I have grown tired of little assholes like you destroying the world my wife created for me out of love. I was the biggest monster and tried to destroy her creation, even I failed to do so. You truly think that after being here for so long to watch the beautiful life she created grow; I would let an absolute dickless punk like you succeed? You are greatly mistaken.” Chaos answered in a tone that I could see him using when he ruled to command fear in everyone.

“I didn’t want to destroy it! I wanted to make it better! Do you know why the humans are doing so well, while we have to hide and slowly die out? Because we are forced to someone we don’t love as our mates. They are supposed to balance our souls, but how is a human supposed to balance a dragon’s soul, if she can’t even protect herself from a fucking dog? Why do I have to die from the loss of my mate if they are killed? How is that fair?” Trin yells and Chaos just dims.

“I never like that way of things being done either, but that is not something you can change through force and fear. With this conversation, I hope that the new goddess is getting ideas of how to change and save the supernatural world.” Chaos says and Trin turns his head to me. “Anyways I would say enjoy your lonely eternity among the stars, but the goddess of night has decided you won’t be given that honor either. So this is my farewell to you, your soul will find rest now.” Chaos says. As Trin goes to take a step towards Chaos, the star I placed starts to absorb him. The look of horror on his face makes me feel even better knowing that he will be gone forever. Once the star has taken him completely, I send it higher up until its nothing but a speck of light when it finally explodes.

“Thank you, great god Chaos. In the end you have done something worthy of earning you company in the stars. I will see that some of our brave souls that we lost in the battle be brought here to keep you company.” I say to the soul and bow to him.

“No Tenelle, they are going to be ok. My last gift before my star dies out too, is to heal and give their souls their life again. The Fates won’t be a problem, as the lives lost were not meant to be taken in the first place. This is what happens when someone goes off the deep end seeking power. Although I do hope you gained valuable knowledge of things that should be changed for future generations. He was right, it’s not fair to die after your mate dies suddenly. Either from the pain of your soul being killed or from becoming rogue and a pack kills you, it’s not fair even for us gods to do.” Chaos say and I see his soul star getting dimmer.
>
“You are right, it’s part of the reason the humans are doing so much better than us. If their mate dies, they mourn, heal, and rebuild. They have a choice, and we are never given that. I will start to make changes and maybe talk a certain Mother Earth into it also.” I say looking at the soul.

“Thank you child, for helping in this battle, you were amazing and for helping try to make these needed changes. It is for the better of the supernatural world. But if I am being totally honest, I wanted to kick you in the ass for jumping from your chariot! Never thought this old soul could be so scared to loose someone. You remind me so much of my wife, so does Nimara. Ha you girls are going to give the gods a run for their immortality! Just do me a favor, use your powers wisely and remember that without your children, there is no you. Goodbye my child.” Chaos’s soul says and just like Trin, he explodes.

I make the split second decision to severe the goddess given mates for those of the Shadow clans who have not found theirs yet. Each clan have many that go their entire lives and never find their mates. Just like the star dust is created to give life back to the innocent lost tonight, it will also give the choice of who someone loves to the clans. The dust lands all over everyone, as it does the fallen clan members start to wake up and their wounds heal. As I descend back to earth, I look back to the place Chaos occupied for the better part of past millions of years, it is now empty and feels lifeless.

  Chapter 16

  ~ Tenelle ~

Shock, surprise, and shrieks can be heard as the clan members start to get up from where they were laid to be collected by Talisa and the other Hellhounds. Even Hades was shocked as he watched all of them get up. Not understanding what was happening many come to me as I land. I direct them to the Great Theater to be checked over by Hecate and Surrey, once that is done they are to find their families, who have all been notified that the gods choose to spare their lives and let them live. They don’t need to know that Chaos was the one who did this for them, it would just put them in more danger.
