  Chapter 1

Lotian’s heavy breathes sounded behind me. But it was the loud meaty pounding that sent spikes of thrill alongside my spine. My ass stung from the two demi-dragons’ hips, which slapped me mercilessly. They had insane stamina. As they’ve changed their positions countless times, it was now Nix’s turn to lay sprawled before me and receive oral sex. I didn’t mind that my jaw couldn’t open anymore. Our sexual hunger hasn’t diminished over the night. A carnal desire to dip Nix’s cock in my mouth, and suck him dry, only such things have been on my mind for the last couple of hours. And so we pushed forward our spent, hot and sweaty bodies. Until exhaustion takes my consciousness away.

I had to admit that Lotian’s massive bed was sturdy as fuck. It has survived four hours of vivid sex and nutty orgasms. Dragons possessed sex drive out of this planet and minds that could shut the outside world off. It didn’t matter that two fucked-up factions – Red Mark and Children of Entropy – had tried to kidnap me, Lotian had fought Hugman and Nix had been ambushed by a group of rogues. It truly didn’t matter.

  Sex made us anew.

Lotian’s massive dick was relentless and hungry. The flame-haired, grapefruit-eyed demi-dragon was the youngest amongst his dragon brothers. His strong hands held my hips in an iron grip while Nix’s hard cock shuddered in front of my face in anticipation for my tongue to lick it from the base to the tip.

Nix took things slower now, savoring the moment. It was hard to believe that he had been sex-starved for years. Denied carnal pleasures due to his dragon’s blood and job status. As captain of the Dragon Corps he needed to show restrain and lead by an example. It sucked.

  Today we ended this nonsense.

Nix, Lotian and I could get as much sex as we wished.

I tried to kiss Nix’s cock, but gods, Lotian’s pace accelerated jerking me too hard to aim.

“I’m coming!” Lotian yelled, smashing his hips against my ass one last time. He supposed to be spent from the previous orgasms, but once more his hot semen flushed my pussy. I was so excited that thinking of pregnancy didn’t even occur in my head.

With the final grunt, Lotian fell over next to us. His muscular chest puffed while his handsome face cracked a genuine smile. Denying dragons such moments was a felony. Sore but ecstatic, I grabbed Nix’s thick member in my small hand and gave him a sold jerk making the blonde demi-dragon grunt as well. His jade eyes fell on me and stayed there until I finished a blowjob. He tried to shut his mouth, but I made sure he couldn’t. Soon enough his grunts turned into screams of pleasures, which had an intoxicating effect on me.

“I think we’re done for tonight. My eyes feel as if someone poured honey on them and then sprinkled them with sand.”

Demi-dragons agreed and we sort of fell asleep as we were. My head on Nix’s naked abdomen and Lotian next to us.

  *

An alarm woke us up three hours later. Only Nix was capable of getting out of bed. I refused to even open my eyes. Lotian growled when Nix shook him.

“I can’t move,” I murmured, still deeply in the clutches of exhaustion. “I can’t open my eyes… I’m so tired. Please give me five minutes.”

I heard steps and knew that Nix walked out of the bedroom. Seconds later Lotian’s soft snores filled the room. I’d kick him if I had the strength to lift my leg. Anyway, his possessive embrace wouldn’t allow me to move.

Halfway through to the dreamland, Nix returned.

“Drink this.” Was he speaking to me?

Lotian shivered, then his arm lifted leaving a sense of emptiness on my skin.

  “What’s that?” Lotian asked.

“It’s called Soldier’s Morning. We aren’t allowed to drink Evergreen Eyes on a daily basis so we had come up with an alternative.

“It smells like coffee,” Lotian admitted, irritated and edgy.

“Coffee, a drop of Evergreen Eyes and apple cider…”

  I heard a gulp.

“Fucking hell is this?!” Lotian snorted.

  “…vinegar.”

But his aura has changed, his voice too. He left the bed and a second later a blanket fell over me.

“Let Flare rest. She had an intense day behind her.”

Rest, sweetheart, Lotian added in my head.

Rest, Flare. We have to figure out what’s the situation, this came from Nix.

Alone in the bedroom, I couldn’t sleep anymore. Emotions tumbled inside my head like the black clouds beyond the walls of this city. That wasn’t all. I was curious what my two men were doing without me around. A few weeks ago they had belonged to rival factions and now they shared a woman. How crazy was this? I didn’t want to acknowledge or even consider it, but I feared that my newfound happiness would shatter any time now. Wasn’t there a song called – all good things come to an end? Sol spoke of fate in my unicorn’s journey to the past. Tears pooled in my eyes as I conjured the image of my Titan mother in my stupid head. Not a real mother, not anymore. She said that fate can be cruel. What was my fate? Was I cursed to suffer in the end?

I forced my eyes open, wishing for some of that brew Nix had brought. I swept the tears off my cheeks and sat up. Blinds blocked most of the light, though a few rays got through.

Only my clothes remained in the room. Demi-dragons could use magic to make their clothes appear and disappear at will. I had this on my bucket list of things to learn. When my feet touched the carpet, they didn’t want to leave it. So delicate and fluffy it was. I put the jumper and sweatpants on, then sneaked out of the bedroom.

I stopped in the mid-stairs as a voice reached me. I haven’t ever heard it, but I could sense the immense authority of the speaker.

“…I cannot say I’m not surprised. When was the last time the two of you stood in the same room without snarling and growling at each other?”

&
nbsp; “I’ve never growled at anyone, father.”

Father? So that was the voice of my demi-dragon’s father. But he wasn’t here in person.

“It doesn’t matter. What do I want to know is, why you called me?”

“The Academy…” Lotian started, but his voice trailed off. From where I stood I couldn’t see why. I would have to get lower, but I didn’t want Lotian or Nix to know that I was eavesdropping on their conversation. Not yet.

“The Academy is in full lockdown and it’ll remain so until the Council of Light decides otherwise.”

“The Council of Light? But Mirenne is a member of the Council and she is behind the attacks in the Academy.”

“If you cannot produce solid proof then shut your mouth and keep it this way, Lotian. I thought I’d taught you better, my sons. So, let me reiterate what is going to happen. The Council of Light will gather to discuss the events in the Academy and question that stray from the Wastelands, then it is going to be concluded that there is no connection between the attacks and Mirenne or the board. However, the Council will find a lot of inconsistencies regarding that girl and will detain her for further questioning. That’s the official narrative and the only outcome of this. Is that understood?”

Silence got so thick I almost could touch it. But it wasn’t complete silence. My heart drummed loudly in my chest and blood swooshed in my ears. Did their father just ask my men to betray me? He did more than that. It proved one thing. The people in charge were corrupted to their core. They were not interested in the truth.

I understood now that it was all because of some shady prophecy of Trinity. A person that was half-unicorn and half-dragon. Selene showed me that I was Trinity.

A part of me was a unicorn and dragon, and for that reason they wanted me. Mirenne, Esiane, demi-dragons’ father and gods knew who else. Did Watermane have the same motives as them?

“We can’t do this, father,” Nix stopped the bleak train of my thoughts. “Flare is under our protection. We can’t allow the Council to arrest her.”

“I understand that she is with you two. Don’t answer. The Council meets tomorrow afternoon in the basilica. Be there with her. If you fail to do so, then not only your status and privileges will be stripped, but you also are going to be arrested and sent out of the city.”

The words were followed by the shatter of glass and a long string of curses. I decided to make my entrance then.

They spun, their eyes hot with rage. I could feel it throughout the bond from such proximity.

  “Flare… did you?”

I nodded. Nix steeled for my outburst, while Lotian didn’t wait and started smashing his insanely expensive furniture.

“That fucking bastard wants to take this? Fuck him, he can have it all, in pieces!”

  “Wait,” I said.

Lotian didn’t hear me in his state of uproar.

Lotian, stop it! I repeated in my head. He jerked and fell silent, the last unshattered chair in his hands. He put it down gently. I’ve never seen him so agitated.

“They can’t have you, Flare,” Nix said when the silence descended on the living room. “The Council of Light is the highest authority on Earth. If they decide to have you then…”

I raised a hand making Nix’s voice drop.

“I appreciate your concern, but did you hear him? They are going to strip your privileges and status and arrest you. I cannot let that happen.”

Nix shook his head, while Lotian shook entirely. The flame-haired demi-dragon was the most emotional amongst the brothers. His father’s words were taking a heavy toll on him. I’ve spent most of my time with Lotian since joining the Academy. It should be no surprise that he felt the strongest blow.

“Why do they care so much about you, Flare?” Nix regained his composure. “Even the attacks on the Academy don’t warrant the Council to meet. It doesn’t make sense.”

I considered revealing the truth to Nix and Lotian. I wanted them to know, to understand, why Mirenne and their father wanted me so badly. Frankly, despite knowing that the part of my blood was unicorn’s, I had no idea what was so special about me. Didn’t Selene say that the fifth brother was a half-dragon and half-something else? They didn’t make much fuss about him. Actually, it looked like they kept his presence quiet. The Academy was silent about the existence of Bastiel.

I opened my mouth to lie, but I couldn’t. They’d just refused their father, how could I lie to them now? Instinctively, I pulled the strings of my hood closer.

“What do you know about the prophecy of Trinity?” I asked them gliding closer. Of course, I didn’t possess Selene’s grace or the cold beauty of Esiane. I didn’t even try to be like them.

I stopped between Nix and Lotian. Both of them towered over me.

“It’s a myth,” Nix answered quietly, while Lotian suddenly turned his head away.

“What if not?” I challenged him.

“Trinity meant to be the end of the world, Flare. It will leave nothingness and spare no one.”

Okay, I wasn’t ready for this. The end of the world? Shit. Fuck. There was no way I’d do such a thing. Maybe telling them who I was, wasn’t the smartest idea…

Lotian sat on the last chair. His face in his hands.

“Lotian?” Nix and I asked at the same time.

“It explains everything,” Lotian said in a voice quiet like a breeze. “I couldn’t understand it myself, at first. Why was everyone so crazy about you, Flare? Selen, Mirenne, Esiane, our father. Maybe even Elleria. Red Mark and Children of Entropy. Why cannot they leave you alone?” Lotian’s voice grew louder and harsher. “And then you punched Saaron and I saw and felt it. The unicorn’s magic. For a split second the time stopped as you decked that bastard in the face. We, dragons, can’t use the unicorn’s magic except for one-time spells, but that wasn’t the case, was it?”

I could sense every fiber of my demi-dragons’ bodies and right now they were tense like predators before they lunge on its prey. Was I their prey at this very moment?

“You’re right, Lotian. I used the unicorn’s magic, though I did so unconsciously. And I understand,” each of my words hurt as if I was tearing my limbs off my body, but I couldn’t see the other way. I loved them. I couldn’t burden them with myself anymore. “I understand that you hate me. I should tell you…”

Strong hands grabbed and lifted me up. Just like that, I was in Lotian’s hot embrace.

“Don’t speak rubbish, Flare. Hate you? Never. I couldn’t care less who you are. If you’re the one who will lay waste to this shithole, if you must destroy it, then I’ll gladly die by your hand.”

“Stop, the two of you,” Nix stapped uncharacteristically. “If this is true, Flare, it changes nothing between us. We won’t abandon you, but our father means trouble. We have to do something about him.”

Lotian’s powerful embrace made it impossible for me to speak up, so I had to speak to them in their heads.

Lotian, I can’t move… Nix, there is nothing we can do about your father or Mirenne. They are out of our reach. As of now, only you and Selene knows who I am.

“Saaron suspects and maybe Verax, too,” Lotian added as he released me. “But if Mirenne shut down the Academy just to get to you, then we must assume she more than suspects. However, I don’t understand Selene. She could hand you to her mother, but didn’t, why?”

Honestly, I didn’t know this myself. I wished I could say that Selene was on my side, but this would be naïve.

“We must go to this meeting and I’ll let them question me, but I want you to find any loopholes in their laws. Lotian, as you showed me with the Academy’s magic system. Something we can exploit for our benefit.”

Lotian scowled, while Nix held his expression barely reined.

“We have only one day. It’s going to be hard to… why not run away?”

“We will do it, Flare,” Nix contradicted his brother. “Running away is out of the question. I hope you haven’t forgotten, Lotian, that our mortal enemy, Tartaros, rules the world outside these walls with a few exceptions. This city is the only place we have.”

  Chapter 2

We’ve spent the entire day going through the driest and most boring books ever. Improved Postwar Law, Magical Legislations, Law of Primes, and more. I wished I could use some of my unicorn spells like the Time Bubble where time slows down. This way we could have a couple of days to prepare for the meeting with the Council.

The truth was, even knowing the spell, the chances I’d be able to conjure something like this were nonexistent. The Time Bubbles were no longer in use because they required at least a group of pure unicorns. How did I know it? I had no idea. Some of the unicorn’s knowledge has been appearing in my head after the Ritual of Tears.

It’d be handy to snap my fingers and gain access to any information. Weren’t unicorns all about psychic powers? That was another thing on my bucket list. Figuring out the unicorn’s magic. If I survived the meeting, of course.

We ended up researching late into the night and needed Evergreen Eyes in the morning to get us into shape.

“Are we going to take a car?”

“Not today. The Council opened a special direct teleportation port for us. It seems they want to mitigate the risk,” Nix explained. He looked sharp in the Dragon Corps black and silver officer’s uniform. He used a gel that kept his hair strictly in place. Lotian, on the other hand, wasn’t going to show the Council much respect. He wore a hoodie and jeans! I decided to wear a plain azure dress and keep my hair tied up. I hoped to look sparingly, but the dress cost Lotian way too much. He didn’t let me pick anything ‘unworthy’.

  “Take my hands,” Nix said.

As we did it, Lotian’s apartment twisted and we found ourselves on an empty plaza… or not. It was a flat roof similar to the one where I’d woken up for the first in the city. The building wasn’t high, but the view was spectacular. The Academy and the skyscrapers were a couple of miles away to my right. On my left spread gray six-story blocks with hundreds of colorful windows in them. It looked that the bulk of citizens lived packed together, while the richest people in the city wasted space. Another piece of knowledge that wasn’t mine. I shook it off and concentrated on the architectural crap in front of me. It resembled an Egyptian pyramid but redesigned by a gothic architect. In other words, freaking huge and without much logic. Also, it stood about a mile from the place where we’d teleported in.
