Wes picked up his coffee cup and walked to the window. The sun was just starting to rise and normally would chase away the gray dawn, but the sky was overcast. The clouds over the mountains appeared dark and heavy.
“Looks like snow coming and heavy snow at that,” Wes said. “I’m going to go out and bring in a lot of fire wood. Sometimes a blizzard can roll off the mountain before you realize it.”
“All right,” Delia said, “We have enough food here for days if we do have a blizzard. I have never seen one before. How bad can they get?”
“Bad enough that you can’t see a foot in front of you. We could be here in the house for several days until it lets up and we can clear a path to town,” Wes explained as he slipped on his coat.
“Oh, that would be bothersome. What would we do if we’re trapped in the house?”
Wes pulled Delia close and kissed her soundly before whispering, “Celebrate us.”
