“Hey, I made up for it, didn’t I?” He huffed.

“Yes, you did, Babe. I loved the pancakes, they were delicious,” Tripp cooed, and gave Jayme a peck on the cheek.

The conversation moved on to other things, and they had a nice night. After everyone left, Jayme and Tripp cleaned up the kitchen.

“Do you feel better now that everyone knows?” he asked Tripp with a smirk.

Jayme was at the sink loading things into the dishwasher.

“Well, not everyone knows. But yes, I’m happy that our families know.”

“I know, we have to tell work.” Jayme sighed.

“We’re not going to be able to hide it after I change my last name to Flanagan.”

Jayme whipped his head around to look at Tripp, who was putting food in the fridge.

  “Come again?”

Tripp shrugged. “I figured I’d change my name to Flanagan.”

  “Really?”

  Tripp smiled. “Yeah, why not?”

“I just didn’t know you wanted to change your name.”

“We will be married. We should have the same last name. I think Tripp Flanagan sounds better than Jayme Littrell.”

  “Okay. Only if you’re sure.”

  “I’m sure.”

“Tripp Flanagan does have a nice ring to it.” Jayme smiled.

  Tripp grinned and nodded.

“I would have changed my last name if you wanted me to, just so you know,” he said.

“I know, Love. But I want to do it.”

  “Okay.”

They finished cleaning up, then snuggled on the couch to watch some TV together before heading to bed.

  CHAPTER FIFTEEN

  Tripp

“HEY, LOOK, we got the invite to Seamus and Mitch’s wedding,” Tripp said as he walked into the kitchen with a pile of mail in his hands.

“Yeah, Seamus said they’d be coming soon,” Jayme replied.

It had been a couple of months since they got engaged, and things were going great. They started making plans for their wedding. Nothing crazy yet, but they did pick a date; September 7th. They also decided that it was time to tell work that they were together and getting married. They wouldn’t be able to hide it when Tripp changed his last name to Flanagan.

  “Are you ready?”

  “Yeah, let’s go.”

Tripp and Jayme headed out the door to go to work. They scheduled to speak with their Captain after their shift meeting. They had waited long enough and were tired of hiding it, it was time to come clean and deal with the consequences. They sat down at the table behind Brendan and Will, who both turned and said hi.

“Hey, guys. You ready for your meeting with the Captain?” Brendan asked quietly.

“No. But it has to be done,” Jayme murmured.

Brendan nodded. Only their close friends at work knew they were engaged, but the rest of the department was still on the outs. After this though, the whole place was going to know. Word usually got around like wildfire.

After their shift meeting, they went to see the Captain. They knocked on his door, and waited for him to call them in. They each sat in a chair in front of his desk. Tripp fidgeted nervously. They were about to get split up as partners, and he hated it. He didn’t want another partner.

“What's going on that you needed to speak with me about? Do you not want to be partners anymore?” Captain Tony Reeves asked.

“That’s not it at all, Sir. Jayme and I would like to remain partners, but after what we have to tell you; I’m not sure if you’ll allow it.”

Captain Reeves frowned. “Okay,” he drawled.

“Jayme and I...we’re...engaged to be married.”

Captain Reeves’ eyebrows shot up, and he sat back in his chair as he looked between the two of them. “You guys are a couple?”

  “Yes, Sir,” Jayme answered.

  “How long?”

  “About ten months,” he said.

“Has it ever hindered you as partners?”

“No, Sir. Never,” Tripp replied immediately.

The captain nodded and rubbed his chin with his index finger and thumb. “I should really split you two up. But in the ten months you have been together as a couple and as partners, I’ve never had a problem with either of you. I think as long as you guys work well together and can keep it professional while working; then I don’t see a good reason to split up such a productive team.”

“Thank you, Sir,” he said with a huge smile.

“Yes, thank you. We really appreciate it,” Jayme added.

Captain Reeves stood and held out his hand. Tripp was first to stand and shake it. Jayme followed. “Good luck to both of you. I wish you nothing but the best.”

“Thank you, Sir,” Tripp and Jayme said in unison.

  “Get to work.”

“Yes, Sir,” they said, and left the Captains’ office with bright smiles on their faces.

“Well, that went better than expected,” Tripp said.

“I know. I’m glad he was understanding.”

  “Yeah, me too.”

They left the station and climbed into their work truck. Jayme drove, of course. He always drove. They were about halfway through their shift, when Tripp got a call from his sister.

  “Hello?”

  “Hey, Tripp.”

  “Hi El, what’s up?”

“Are you and Jayme busy tonight? Brett and I wanted to talk to you about something, and wanted to know if we could come over?”

“Is everything okay?” he asked, concerned.

  “Oh yeah, everything is fine.”

“Yeah, you can come over; we get home around six. Do you want to come over around six-thirty?”

  “Yeah, that would be great.”

  “Okay, see you later then.”

  “Sounds good, bye.”

  “Bye.”

He hung up and looked over at Jayme.

“What was that about?” Jayme asked.

“I don’t know, they said they needed to talk to us about something.”

  “Okay.” Jayme frowned.

“I know. I can’t imagine what it could be about.”

“I guess we’ll find out later.”

  “Yep.”

They rushed home that night. They both got changed out of their uniforms and ate a quick dinner; while they waited for Elianna and Brett to get there. When the doorbell rang, Tripp ran to answer it. Jayme met them in the living room and greeted them with hugs. Tripp led them into the kitchen, where they all sat around the table.

“What did you want to talk to us about?” Tripp asked.

“Getting right down to it, huh?”

“Yes, it’s been eating at me since I talked to you,” he replied.

“Okay, Brett and I have been talking this over for a couple of months now. And we wanted to let you know that whenever you’re ready, I’d like to be your surrogate.”

Tripp and Jayme stared at her in shock.

“El, you would do that for us?” he croaked.

“In a heartbeat. I’d rather it be me, then you two finding some stranger to do it.”

“I don’t know what to say,” Jayme said. “Thank you doesn’t seem sufficient.”

“Thank you works just fine.” Brett smiled.

Tripp got up, went to his sister; and pulled her into a big hug. Then he went to Brett and did the same. “You guys are amazing. I’m in shock.”

  Jayme hugged them also.

“What if you guys want to have more of your own kids? I don’t want you waiting on us,” Jayme said. “It might be a year from now that we decide the time is right.”

“We’ve already decided that we’re going to wait a while before having another one of our own. Noah’s enough of a handful as it is, I want him to be a bit older before I go and add a baby to the mix.”

“We’ll never be able to thank you enough,” Tripp said.

“We don’t need it, Tripp. You getting a baby is going to be thanks enough.”

“You’re the best sister ever. I love you.”

“I love you too.” She smiled.

Tripp sat there for a moment thinking about everything. “Would we get a donor egg? And whose sperm would we use?”

“I was actually thinking that maybe you could use one of my eggs, and Jayme’s sperm; that way the baby would actually be both of your blood lines.”

“We definitely can’t use my sperm if we do that.” Tripp laughed.

  “No, definitely not,” Jayme agreed.

“Don’t think you’re sleeping with my wife though, Jayme,” Brett teased.

Jayme barked out a laugh. “I’m good, man, I’ll stick to sleeping with your brother-in-law.”

Brett barked out a laugh and shook his head. “Thanks.”

“I like El’s idea,” Tripp said. “That way the baby would get a little of both of us.”

Everyone agreed. Elianna and Brett stayed for a little longer, before heading home. Tripp and Jayme walked them to the door. Once they were gone, he turned to Jayme and crashed into him; holding him tight. Tripp sniffed as his emotions got the best of him. Jayme rubbed soothing circles around his back.

“It’s okay, Babe,” Jayme murmured against his cheek.

He nodded. “I’m just...I can’t believe she’d do that for us.”

  “She’s incredible.”

  “Yes, she is.”

He kissed Jayme on the lips, then let him go. “We need to celebrate,” Tripp chirped.

“You want to go to Rain, don’t you?”

“It’s a Friday night. We’re off tomorrow. Let’s go have some fun.”

“All right. Fine. Let’s go get ready.”

  “Yesss!”

So they went to Rain and danced, laughed, drank, and celebrated.

  Tripp

Tripp sighed, and pressed his fingers into his eyes. He was getting a headache. They had been looking at centerpiece arrangements, and flowers, and cakes for an hour now. Nothing was catching his eye. Jayme seemed just as frustrated, but he was probably more frustrated with Tripp than anything else.

“What’s wrong with this one?” Jayme asked, pointing to a picture of a simple white three-tiered cake with black ribbons around the bottom of each tier.

“It’s...it doesn’t jump out at me.”

“It’s fucking cake, Tripp,” Jayme said dryly.

“I have one more book that you can look at,” said Liz, the women at the shop that was helping them. The place was like a one stop shop for weddings. They did everything.

Jayme groaned, and shoved out of his chair. “I need a break.”

  “Jayme.”

“I’ll be back in a couple minutes. You go ahead and look at the book,” Jayme said, walking out before he could argue.

He frowned. Liz brought out another book and set it in front of him. “I have to warn you. These are my more pricey cakes. I don’t know if any of these will be in your budget.”

“Figures. Let me look at them.”

He flipped through the pages. One caught his eye. It was a four-tiered white cake with each tier having a different design on it, and there were blue ribbons around the base of each tier.

“This one. I like this one,” he said, and tapped the page.

Liz winced. “Honey, that one is five hundred dollars.”

“Shit. You think he’ll go for it?”

Liz frowned, and shook her head.

“Damn it, Liz. You’re not helping.” He teased.

  “Sorry.” She snickered.

Jayme returned a minute later and dropped down into his chair. He looked a little calmer, but Tripp was sure that wasn’t going to last long.

“Umm, I found one that I like,” he said.

  “Thank fucking God.” Jayme huffed.

“It’s this one here.” He pointed to the picture of the cake.

  “Great. How much?”

He hesitated, and Jayme looked over at him; narrowing his eyes.

  “How much is it, Tripp?”

“Five hundred,” he said in a rush, then winced.

Jayme’s eyes bulged, and his mouth dropped open. “What?! No. Not happening.”

  “Jayme--“

“We don’t have the money for that. We still have to get our suits and pay the balance for the venue. I said two hundred for the cake was all we could afford.”

“I know, but can’t we skimp somewhere else? Like get a cheaper centerpiece for the tables?”

“Even if we did that, we still wouldn’t have enough. The cheapest centerpiece would run us two hundred, and those were ugly as shit. No offense, Liz.”

She waved him off. “It’s okay. I agree.”

“Come on, Jayme. This is my one and only wedding. I want it to be perfect.”

“It can be perfect with a cheaper cake. There is nothing wrong with the black and white one. It’s simple and classy. And it’s in our budget.”

  “It’s only three hundred over--“

“No, Tripp. We don’t have it.”

“What if I can come up with the extra three hundred?”

“How are you gonna do that? You make less than I do.”

“I’ve got a couple of guns I can sell.”

“You’re willing to sell your stuff, just to get a fucking cake?”

“I was thinking about selling them anyway, so yeah.”

Jayme shook his head and held up his hands in surrender. “Fine. Do what you want.”

He smiled triumphantly. “We’ll take the cake, Liz.”

  She smiled. “Great.”

They put down a deposit on the cake and centerpieces before leaving. As soon as they were done, Jayme rushed out of there and climbed in his truck. Tripp got in the passenger seat and looked over at his grumpy fiancé.

“Were you this uptight when you planned your first wedding?” he asked.

“I didn’t have to pay for the whole thing, so no,” Jayme snapped.

“We’re still on budget, Babe. Don’t get yourself stressed out. Don’t think I didn’t notice your hands shaking in there.”

“It’s too late. I’m already stressed out,” Jayme grumbled, and ran a shaky hand over his short hair.

“Why don’t we go to the shooting range? You can get out some of your frustrations on a target.”

  Jayme nodded. “Yeah. Okay.”

They stopped home to grab their range bags with their guns and supplies, before heading over to the outdoor range. They spent a couple of hours there, shooting at different targets; and using different guns.

Once they were finished, they packed it all up; and headed back to the truck. He looked over at Jayme. “Feel better?”

  Jayme nodded. “Yeah.”

  “Good.”

They drove home, listening to their favorite country station. Tripp sang along to every song. He tried to get Jayme to sing, but he wasn’t in that good of a mood. He might have felt better, but he wasn’t completely fine. He was still stressed.

“You sure we can’t just go to the courthouse and get married?” Jayme asked as they walked in the front door.

He frowned. “Don’t be like that.”

  “Sorry.”

“I know this probably isn’t as special to you because you’ve done this all before. But this is really special to me, and I want to marry you in front of our family and friends; and have a big party to celebrate our love.”

“It’s special to me.” Jayme argued.

“Then try and act like it. I feel like this has done nothing but aggravate and stress you out. You’re not enjoying anything about this.”

“You’re right, I’m sorry. I’ve been mainly focused on the money, and spending what we don’t have.”

“And I’m sure I’m not helping with that.”

  Jayme smiled slightly. “No.”

“I’ll try to be more money conscious, and not look at things that are over budget.”

  “Thank you.”

He slid his hands up Jayme’s chest
, and around his neck. “Will a blowjob help make you feel better?” He asked before kissing Jayme.

“Blowjobs are always welcome,” Jayme murmured against Tripp’s lips.

“Why don’t you go sit on the couch and let me take care of you.”

  “Okay.”

He let Jayme go, and watched him walk over to the couch and sit down. He shoved the ottoman out of the way and knelt between Jayme’s spread knees. He undid Jayme’s jeans, and pulled them down his thighs; with Jayme’s help. Jayme’s hard cock strained against his briefs. He leaned in and mouthed him through the cotton; running his mouth along the shaft and head.

Jayme raked his fingers through his hair and hummed his approval of what he was doing. He then gripped the waistband of Jayme’s briefs, and slowly pulled them down; freeing his erection.

“I fucking love your cock,” he said, then flicked his tongue over the flushed head.

“Mmm, my cock loves you too.”

He ran his tongue up and down the shaft, before swirling it around the head; and taking it into his mouth. Jayme gasped, then moaned. Using his hand in tandem with his mouth, he worked Jayme over. Jayme rolled his hips in time with the bobbing of his head.

“I’m close,” Jayme choked, his hand moving to clutch his hair.

“Fuck yes, come in my mouth. I want it,” he said hurriedly, then dove back down on Jayme’s cock.

Jayme cried out as he came in Tripp’s mouth. He swallowed it down and continued sucking Jayme’s cock; until Jayme was pushing him away. He smiled as he rested back on his heels.

“That dirty talk gets you every time,” he said.

  “Fuck. I know.” Jayme panted.

He shoved to his feet and plopped down on the couch next to Jayme. “How do you feel now?”

  “Chill.”

“Good. That’s what I was hoping for.”

  “Thanks.”

  “You’re welcome.”

“I should really pull my pants back up.”

“Nah, just sit there like that for the rest of the day.”

Jayme laughed. “That’d be fucking weird.”

He laughed too as Jayme pulled his underwear and pants back up. They ended up ordering out for dinner and watching a couple of movies before heading to bed.
