There was laughter when the others thought this was a jest. Tracking via the Xgates was a given, no question in how basic the process was. Audio, portal transitions, motherships, and even spies maintained eyes for the divine council. When Seetheus’s orb hummed sadly they caught on.
“What do we do?” Marqunious asked.
Kovrinous generated a universal map. “This is unpredicted but no disastrous. The Owlvini Alliance are devout in their hatred of us, but I am not showing their hiding have an impact on our operations. Our productions are showing four thousand two hundred and fifteen planets online.”
“Productions for what? Are these manufacturing bases? What for?” Marqunious asked in blatant confusion.
Seetheus expected more from Marqunious. The orb was his power master, a mind so brilliant it could convert a star into a black hole and suction the vortexing power into portals to contain the lower races. A moment was given for the scientist to clue in.
“We’re going to war,” Marqunious muttered with his orb shimmering in fright. “My creations of destruction with never fail, they are designed for eternity. This will doom us if we do not contain the enemy.”
“Exactly why we have those who worship us working in secret to help the cause. This is merely a short term break of contract. Our automations are unable to keep up with the Creator’s widening fan. There are too many new species achieving space flight. We have to use those who worship us to aid creating larger armadas of automation,” Seetheus said with a reassuring buzz. “Everything will be okay in due time.”
Kovrinous reacted unexpectedly when he realized why this meeting was called. A wave of panic cascaded through the divine. He said, “There are less operating facilities. That is not the problem. We predicted some of our automation plants run by worshipping conglomerates to fall. The Owlvini Alliance has done more than disappear. We have additional systems without motherships. The data of their loss is wiped. The… The… You!”
Seetheus went to his ancient friend. “Marqunious is correct and incorrect. We’re not going to war. We’re already at war. That data is gone because our foes have started freeing old systems by tricking our motherships. Software updates are going out but they are a crafty opponent. The enemy is coming for us and if we do not adapt we will fall.”
There was a pause. These two were loyalist to the core and Seetheus knew that.
“What do we do?” They asked in harmony.
“We ramp up our production quietly to preserve what we can. We control millions of worlds, an armada of millions of motherships, and the will of the divines. When the time comes we break the never ending contract, crush our foes, and then return to dominating the savage races without silly things like a grand market. Now this is what I need you to do.”
Seetheus went into a long explanation. He knew impending events would rock the universe into a blazing inferno of death and destruction.
AFTERWORD
First, thank you for reading! Huzzah! Are you ready for continued building, babe, battle, and a badass champion? Stay tuned for book 4. I am diving right into its creation the second I finish typing this, which is April 28th 2020.
We saw a lot of changes happening to Mansion. We viewed the inside of Aspen and then its demise. Creatively this book takes a lot of twists and turns which means there is a lot to look forward to in the next installment. While this one was not all blood and guts; a lot of the Bastion Community changes needed to be addressed. The balance can be tricky, but going from human tech to alien tech is pretty important.
I expect book 4 to be an action pack thrill ride of awesomeness. If you journeyed this far you will like what is in store for Eric, his family, and his growing community.
With another Cyber Viking book done and logged into the tomes of Marcus Sloss. I have other less vulgar work under my pen name Max Geek. Give it and my other books a try. If you do facebook I am on that just search my name, I answer chat there regularly.
Real life update. After 45 days in self-quarantine my family went to the beach. We dug in the sand, while away from others, and I am contemplating getting a haircut because I am part animal by this point. This virus shit sucks. When is the virum coming to humanity? DD’s for every babe in a 21 year old body and no illness. Sign me up!
The asking for a review. Actually I need reviews on book 1. I wrote the darn things so fast people dive into book 2 and then never review book 1 and now you’re on book 3 heading into book 4. I expect it to out before June. Speaking of June Chris Graves is narrating this series. Amazing narrator, great guy. Looking forward to the audio.
Thank you again for reading. Reviews help, and stay classy.
Cheers - Marcus Sloss.
