  “What?”

“Sir, perhaps this should only be for your eyes.”

  Chapter 48

The teams had been grouped and assigned by Adam; those who were to stay with the transport, medical, and those who would be in close communication with Ops. That included Finn, who was suddenly the most import tech in the field. The teams to breach the Estate and force their way in the mansion would be determined by what Finn told them was going on inside just before the breach. Adam needed an up to the second, real time report on position, and numbers, location and activity. Thus far, Musso’s outside security hadn’t detected the presence of Adam and his teams.

Cindy had deployed her men and the contingent of Gens from Dietschberg sent by Chel around the Estate, inside and out, and any of Musso security detail “creating a bother” were eliminated. Their communications devices were jammed but not silenced. The perception would be faulty equipment, not dead men.

Adam had determined there would be two assault/breach teams, one headed by him, and the other by Chel. James and Raoul would follow in behind Adam’s team. Adam and Chel would be in front, Chel’s men next followed by any of Adam’s humans that were necessary. Kendra would be with Chel. She decided to go in natural state Gens form. There would be blood.

Octavio and Francois would be with the Ops van, and make sure nothing went wrong when Vera came out. An ambulance and med team were standing by. They would coordinate all activity, and relay their orders to Finn,

Octavio felt he should’ve been with Kendra and Chel’s assault team, perhaps even leading the breach. But Adam was still furious with him for Switzerland and his failure to control his wife. He was even less happy that Octavio, Bella, Helena and their kids were in Paraiso. The women had decided otherwise, and countermanded his orders, led by Misti, and there was little he could do about it at present. Perhaps he and others thought of him as the Chosen One, but his women, independent thinkers all, did little more than acknowledge he was their husband, not their superior. He would have to learn to live with that, as that was his fate.

Kendra approached Adam as he was reviewing breach procedures with Chel. “A moment please, Adam. Chel, please excuse us.”

Chel walked off a few paces, but not too far. His hearing was enhanced, and he wanted to know what the brave human female found so urgent.

  “You sent Misti away.”

  “I did.”

  “Why?”

“I directed her not to do something for the safety of us all and she disobeyed my direct order. Like Octavio, I cannot have rogue warriors in my midst. If we’re not on the same page, someone has to go. That will never be me.”

  “Just like that.”

  “Yep. Just like that.”

  “You fucking idiot.”

  “Opinion noted.”

“And I just heard that you also sent both Alana and Noki off too. Are you fucking kidding me?”

“Nope. They too were deciding things on their own I told them specifically not to do. They also disobeyed my direct orders. I cannot have our people at cross purposes. People will die. Those people are my responsibility and their deaths will be on my conscience. This is no game. This is war. I need my wives to have my back, and I will not tolerate disobedience. From anyone”

“You ass fucking idiot. Your arrogance has increased further and farther than your skills. I ought to fuck you up right now you’re so stupid.”

Adam was non-plussed. “Maybe wait until we have Vera out, then you can hit me as much as you wish. I won’t even fight back. Just punch away as hard as you can. Until then, get your ass over to Chel’s men and talk to them about their duties once inside. Chel and I are finalizing the breach, so if there are changes, be ready to alter your plans.”

Kendra left, and Chel walked back to Adam. “Chosen One, you permit your women to address you in that fashion? To threaten you? To strike you?”

Adam looked at Chel, smiling. “Of course. All my women are strong, opinionated and independent. Fierce, physical and lethal in their own way. They speak their minds and occasionally attempt to attack me. But they seldom try to harm me permanently. Except my first wife, Misti. I cannot control her. She’s crazier than I am. They would each make great Gens warriors.”

“I shall be more careful around your human women. I aspire to a long life, and many grandchildren. And your Lady Kendra scares me. She’s going in as a Gens with restraints off.”

“And you shall have that life, Chel. My women seek only to bully me. Otherwise they are kittens to the rest of the world.”

“Do you beat them? For their insolence?”

“No! Of course not. If I did that, they certainly would kill me. No, their anger is with my arrogance, which they detest. I might even go so, far as to say they’re correct in their opinions. Nonetheless, I am as the Creator made me, and none escape the Creator’s design.”

The plan took shape and would be executed within the hour. Two teams of three Gens would place C-4 along the edge of two windows, one facing out to the front courtyard, and one on the right side facing toward the Lake.

The Gens would be imperceptible to the naked eye from those within, but not to thermal imaging. Adam and Chel gambled that the humans inside didn’t have that tech in front of them. As the teams approached to place the C-4, Cindy’s teams would take out all of Musso’s security. The C-4 would be detonated by Finn from the van and the two teams led by Chel and Adam would enter the residence.

Chel would capture the two children with Vera, and hold them, while Adam would dispatch the two others attending to his wife. James and Raoul would then collect Vera, and take her immediately to the ambulance, and head directly to the airfield. There they would await his arrival, so he could talk to her before departing, then waste no time getting Vera home, and in proper hospital care in Paraiso. The medical team in the ambulance would accompany and tend to her during the long flight back to Kenya.

Kendra along with several of Chel’s men would head right for Musso and his wife and detain them. Then they would be bound and moved with the children to their final destination. That destination would be the Black Forest, as guests of the Gens Germania. Adam and Chel would lead the interrogations and, later, their executions. Adam would first spend quality time with each, and their screams would be heard for miles.

Adam warned Chel of the fog of war; in this case, the dust and smoke caused by the explosion of the C-4. There might be electrical danger or other unforeseen circumstances. Adam asked everyone to wear the goggles provided by Finn.

They would go on Adam’s signal to Finn to detonate the C-4.

Adam, Chel and their Gens teams would all transform just before the breach. He warned any humans not familiar with transformation to remain steadfast; there was no danger to them. He bid them remember that the Gens they would see are the same people they were talking to in human form. They would pose no danger to them.

Cindy called Adam saying that her part was finished; the Musso security people were all dead. Adam told Finn to punch it and the resulting explosions tore open spaces where the windows had once been. As Adam suspected, the windows were not glass, but some high strength polycarbonate. No matter, the window frames and windows were down, and only gaping holes remained.

The teams moved in with extreme precision, each doing their jobs securing the residence quickly and efficiently.

Adam dispatched the woman and man in lab coats attending to Vera, watching their heads roll off in opposite directions. The Gens howled in approval of their Manti. All this for a single human woman made them proud to be in his service. They believed he would come for them too, should the need ever arise.

Chel quickly corralled the two Musso children, then hurried them out of the residence and quickly into a waiting van. They were bound and gagged, and immediately driven off to the airfield.

Kendra quickly took her team to the adjacent Great Room, but as they arrived they watched as Federico ju
mped into a tube and descended quickly below the floor. Musso would get to the basement below, take another route to a waiting motorized mining car and be five kilometers away from the Villa within minutes.

His wife, Marta wasn’t so lucky. Musso had abandoned her; she didn’t fear her fate. She believed she, and the children would be arrested, and put in a nice comfortable European jail. Better yet an asylum or comfy psychiatric hospital. The heard the food was better.

She was wrong. She and her psychopathic offspring were headed for the depths of the Black Forest, there to receive punishment befitting their lengthy history of unspeakable depravity. They had planned a lengthy torture of Vera Capri, with photos posted to the Dark Web for Adam to see.

Unfortunately, the punishment would be in vain. Musso couldn’t have cared less about Marta, and the children and would have gladly dispatched them himself had he time to protect what was most important to him: his own life. They were but tools for his visual and sexual pleasure, nothing more. He would be safely away from Como and begin his reign of terror all over again. He hadn’t chosen a location yet, but still wished to remain in the European Union where a death sentence was not possible. He had always enjoyed Spain, so warm and bright, as a young man. His early career was there, and he spoke excellent unaccented Spanish.

He would go south, away from Madrid. Granada had always been his favorite. He had a small Villa there. He would drive to Switzerland using false documents, then charter a jet to Cadiz. From there he might even contemplate taking the train to Granada, as he had many times before as a young man.

Granada. Yes, that’s where he would begin all over again.

  Chapter 49

When Adam arrived at the airfield, Vera was just then rousing from a foggy sleep. She recognized Adam and reached out for him.

“You came for me. I knew you would. I knew you would find me somehow, some way and bring me home to safety. I love you so much. I can’t wait to hold you in my arms and feel the warmth of your embrace. Is Hannah with us? I so wish to see her.”

“She will be by your side very soon. I promise. Now, little one, it’s time for you to rest and recover. You’re safe now and soon will be home with your wife and telling dirty jokes to all the men, cursing like a sailor. When you are home, this experience will fade from memory like an old dream no longer troubling you. I will be home to see you soon.”

“I hid all our secrets; they got nothing from me. I wasn’t brave, but I knew my duty.”

Adam bent down and kissed Vera’s forehead. “You are my hero, Vera Capri. You are brave and strong, and we will honor your bravery upon my return. Now sleep, my princess.”

Adam nodded to the doctor and in seconds Vera was asleep and would not wake until she arrived safely back home.

The plane with his new crew aboard was in the air and headed for South Dakota, using false identities and forged passports. Adam had sent Chel and the Gens home to the Black Forest with the three captives, there to await Adam and his decision about their fates. The three thought they would be arrested and sent to jail; Adam thought otherwise. When that ordeal was over, Chel and his warriors would relocate to the City of Light as would eventually all the Eighty-One, beginning with the Gens of the Black Forest. But first, they needed to remain in place should the war they sought to avoid suddenly begin.

Adam sat at the back of the plane thinking, cell phone in hand, and about to dial up Saldana Ri for a chat. Kendra came back to see him and to discuss what he intended to do when they arrived in South Dakota. She had never been to America and did not know what to expect.

Only Cindy, Rafi and Kendra were aboard the small jet with Adam; all others had been sent to Paraiso or back to Germany. Cindy’s men were sent to Paraiso to see the new city and decide if they wished to join the new nation too. Most would; some would not.

Rafi was on his phone with Bitsie, who missed her male, while Cindy had updated Rod telling him when to expect her on the tarmac.

Kendra said, “I’m sorry I yelled at you back at Como. I was upset. You’re still an ass; it was the wrong thing to do and I hope you’ll change your mind. I miss the ladies already.”

Adam looked at Kendra, who he loved very much. He pushed back the hair covering her face.

“You have much to learn, my love. And you are my love. You love me, though you have no idea why, nor have you any desire to explore this obsession. You are my mystery and my gift. I have no idea whether you will stay or leave but I hope you will stay. My life would be less full, less rich were you not in it.”

Adam leaned into Kendra and tenderly kissed her forehead.

“Do not fret about the women. I sent Misti off because Alana’s time is near, and she wanted to be with her for the birth of our daughter. I sent Noki and Alana off just to be a bully and let them know that I knew. I am, after all, the Chosen One. They laugh at me and ignore my commands, as do all my wives, and do exactly as they wish. You will never repeat that this story to anyone, or I will be forced to punish you somehow in the harshest terms. Perhaps send you to work in the Dietschberg kitchens baking bread.”

“Will you always love me, as you do now?”

“Always. I wish never to be apart.”

Kendra smiled, feeling safe and secure. She curled up in Adam’s lap, drifting off to sleep and dreaming of what might be. Her life was a chaotic mess and she could not have loved it more.

  ***

Kendra awoke and moved up front to speak to Cindy, who she hardly knew. Adam dialed his cell phone.

Saldana answered and said, “My love, you have called me back, unlike so many of your gender who disappear soon after gratification. I trust all is forgiven and playtime is nigh.”

“Well, perhaps closer to resolution than before and I will admit that your offering was helpful. It confirmed what we already knew, but first or last in this case doesn’t matter. My wife is free, Musso is on the run and the rest of his family is now in my hands. You have committed unpardonable acts, but I suspect you are simply cruel rather than purely evil. If sadism was never to be tolerated, I suspect many of my own kind would disappear from this earth. So, with that settled, we should discuss the future of one Saldana Ri and the release of my other wife.”

“I’m not sure it is that simple, my darling. You are not in control now and I still hold the keys to your destruction. But for funds, you might already be dead.”

“Yes, there’s that. It is your best bluff and I applaud it. It is why I believe we should be friends. However, let’s review the facts first. On your little weaponized bio-toxin project, we have already developed a cure, a vaccine. The CDC worked that out just in case. So, do your best, but you don’t have the money to distribute the little bugs anyway, so put that fantasy aside.

“Your army was so easily defeated in Idaho, we hardly consider your forces arrayed in the Olympic Peninsula to even be a threat to Costa Rica. They don’t have an army, by the way. Your estimates of ready forces abroad are all invented. I think some of my stoner friends in Vancouver could probably take most of you in a fist fight. They play hockey in Canada, and fighting is in their DNA.

“That leaves your little A+/A- transformation project as your hole card. Once again, that’s a problem. As you are aware, because Hans and Tarnek of the Gens Germania told you, I can now transform at will. No blood, no water, no special hash oil. I have taught this ability to all my Gens compatriots in the Black Forest, and they, in turn are teaching the rest of the Eighty-One. So, once again, you’re kinda fucked.

“Hans was held down by my wife Kendra, while Queen Caroline slit his throat while Akira of the Gens Germania watched. Akira then allowed me the honor of fighting and killing his son. Took less than a minute.

“Now, as to your loyal subjects. I don’t actually think you have any left. Your friends in the Olympic Peninsula will revolt when they receive this news; most didn’t want war anyway. Of the four hundred at my base, I will reveal myself to them and then they will join my fi
ght too. So that means you have my wife and I have that psychopath PMO. I have two proposals and you have until morning to think it over.”

  “I’m listening.”

“Both involve you giving me back my wife. Option one, you can take as many of the four hundred warriors from Barrows Bay as you think will still follow you and I give PMO and you a seventy-two-hour head start.”

  “What’s number two.”

“After my wife is safe, you and I meet at a Lodge in Northern California I know, and we fuck for a few days and decide on how to co-exist. You disband the Black Shirts and promise to behave, and I give you a ranch with a thousand acres to do with as you please. Stop killing humans and Gens but you can pursue your sado-masochistic pleasure to your hearts content with consenting adults. You have so many humans that will willingly do as you bid them. It’ll be fun. Seriously.”

  “And if you’re lying?”

“Good point. But, no I’m not. Check around. Plus, if you are up on your Prophecy lore, as I know you are, you know I will hunt down Enzo Fortizi and send him to the afterlife. Then Paulo and I have a date in front of the entire Gens race. All the clans everywhere will meet in convocation to watch Paulo and I determine the fate of our peoples. What a fucking spectacle that will be. I’m not sure that Paulo will show up, me being able to transform and all. So, you see, my proposals have many benefits and few drawbacks.”

  “The sex will be good?”

  “The best I know how?”

“Will it be brutal and angry?”

“Is there any other way with you?”
