Jordy has found his new place as an uncle. Amee is the light of his life as well. I never thought that I’d see Jordy so happy. I dragged him into that life, but I am happy that I could be the one to drag him back out of it, too. He’s moved on with his life. He’s dating a woman that makes him smile. That in turn, makes me smile.
“You hate them, don’t you?” Ava’s eyes come to meet mine as her fingers linger over the scars that the explosion left on my skin.
“Not even close. I think they’re sexy.” Her eyes sparkle in the sunlight.
“Sexy? You never thought any of the others were sexy.” I watch her intently.
“The others were from a past that you wanted. These are from a future that you deserved. There’s a difference.” Pressing her lips against mine, I savor the taste of her.
“So, Mrs. Vitale, what are your thoughts on a son? One to carry on the Vitale name?” Ava wrinkles her nose before leaning into my chest.
“I don’t know, Mr. Vitale. There is a lot of darkness behind that name.” I know she’s teasing me. I love every second of it, too. I’ve missed this, missed her. Every second that I was away from her, I realize just how much she meant to me. I need her more than I’ve ever needed anything in my life and now, I have it all.
“But with that darkness comes a light. A line that stays somewhere between heaven and hell. It’s our line.” The words leave my lips before Ava kisses my neck.
“I’ve grown to love this line.”
