Stopping, I put the truck in park, seeing the building up ahead.
“You sure this is where they brought her?” Axel asks when he joins me.
“Yeah. Why would anyone come here?” I grumble, brows furrowed.
“Don’t know, it’s creepy as fuck,” Chains mutters.
Fury steps forward and holds his hands up. “Before we go in there, do you know what this place is?” he asks. As one of the founding members of the club, you would think he’d seem older, but he and Ryder were the youngest of the group when they started the club together.
“It’s the old abandoned medical clinic that was shut down years ago,” Ryder states.
“Yeah, but you know why it was shut down, right?”
“What are you saying, Fury?” I grind out.
“This medical facility was shut down because it wasn’t just any place. It was used as a cover-up for those stealing body parts and testing things on people. Ela claims the souls of those who died were trapped within,” he explains.
Fuck me.
We all know what he’s getting at, but we don’t have time for no voodoo mess right now. I, for one, have always believed in Ela’s gift and it’s been a wonder to have on our side. We’ll just have to get her to help us later if need be.
“Their space has already been disrupted, so it’s not a hardship for us to be here. We just show respect, and they’ll leave us alone,” Pitch Black says. He’s grown up with his mother teaching him about stuff like this.
Strange as it may seem, anything is possible.
Nodding, we all start heading in the direction of the building on silent feet.
Snakes slither along the stairs of the abandoned building and there’s a hissing sound of gators not too far away.
I need to get my family out of here as soon as possible.
Crossing the threshold, I shiver at the feel of the place. It’s the kind horror flicks are made from.
Sighing, I pull out my gun as we all split up into twos and start our search. The further we go, I stop at the sound of my son’s cries and whimpers. I pull out my phone and text the others to come in my direction.
On silent feet, I start to move faster in the direction I heard him.
Peeking around the corner of the doorway, I see him sitting by himself in a playpen, bugs on the ground, and snakes in the vines on the walls.
Fuck.
His eyes are wide with fear, and I swear to make everyone pay for his fear. Stepping into the room, I quickly move to him and lift him out of the pack ‘n play to check him over. On his legs and arms, it looks like he’s been stung several times. I rush him out of the room, kissing the side of his head before handing him to Crash. “Get him to the hospital,” I ask, not knowing if Owen’s allergic to anything.
Nodding, he takes off, running toward the exit.
“I’m texting Angelina, she’s working today. I’ll make sure she’s waiting for him,” Pitch Black says already on his phone.
“Thank you,” I murmur quietly and start moving further down the hall in search of my ol’ lady.
Someone shouts and screams, causing my blood to boil.
What the hell?
Looking to Chains, I frown. “Do you recognize the voice of one of those women?”
“Sounds familiar,” he mutters.
My gut tightens and I move faster, needing to get to my ol’ lady.
I step over some thick vines as I get to the door, where I can hear Nora’s moans of pain. To keep myself from doing something drastic, I take a deep breath, pull the safety back on my gun, and step into the room.
It takes all of my control to keep from losing my shit at the sight of Nora strapped to a gurney, an IV stuck in her arm. The two women were taking notice of me and both of them jump into action.
“Don’t you fuckin’ move,” I snarl.
“Breaker, baby, go, you don’t need to see this. I promise everything will be okay. We’ll finally be happy,” the one who looks like Tricks purrs, moving to me.
“Who the fuck are you?” Tyres demands.
“Hold up, that voice, I know it. Noémie?” Brake snaps.
“Noémie?” What the fuck? We haven’t seen that bitch in years. Not since she came to the clubhouse to play her games with Chains and me.
Narrowing my gaze, I jump into action. This bitch isn’t about to get away with this.
Everything seems to happen at once and a sharp scream comes from Nora, pulling me from my blinding rage as I pull the trigger. Instead of the bullet hitting Noémie in between the eyes like I wanted to do, I shot her shoulder to get her away from me. The other woman, however, I do shoot in the head as she starts for my ol’ lady with a scalpel in her hand.
There’s no way in fuck I’m about to let that woman cut into Nora.
Chapter Thirteen
Nora
Seeing Breaker and his brothers all there fills me with a small amount of relief, but with the pitocin bringing my labor on quickly. The contractions are coming closer. And the fact psychos one and two already broke my water with some small looking hook thing. I’m not a medical person so I don’t know. I’ll have to make a note to myself to ask Angelina about it. That is if I can get the hell out of here today.
Fake Tricks words make me sick. She’s spent the last fifteen minutes telling me all about how she used to fuck both Chains and Breaker together. That she was meant for both of them but now will only have Breaker. Though she did plan to get rid of Tiny somehow.
I just couldn’t understand why she changed herself to look like Tricks.
When the guys said the woman’s name, Noémie, I had a chill go down my spine. I remember Breaker telling me about the cold bitch one night when we’d been discussing past fucks. Well, we’d been arguing about it one time during my pregnancy with Owen. I’d demanded he tell me how many women he had threesomes with after hearing some of the strays recounting what they’d done with him.
My ears ring from the sound of the gun going off, shooting the woman who’d been about to cut into my stomach. Bile rises into the back of my mouth when her body falls.
Noémie screams her own pain as she clutches her shoulder.
“You shot me. I thought you loved me,” Noémie screams.
Brake and Pitch Black block her from getting close when Breaker comes to me with Pipe and Chains help.
Another contraction hits me and I feel the need to push.
No.
Oh God, no. I don’t want to have our baby here.
“Breaker, please, Owen, he’s here somewhere . . .” moaning I meet his gaze. “The baby, he’s coming,” I whimper. “I don’t want to have him here.” Tears well in my eyes.
“Give me my baby,” Noémie screams, still thinking that she’s got the upper hand.
The woman is crazy.
“Spitfire, we’ve got Owen. Crash is taking him to the hospital now. Pipe, can we move her?” Breaker asks.
“He’s coming, don’t make me have him in this place. Please. Please. Please.” I cry, wanting them to take me as far away from this horrible place that could be in that movie Shutter Island or something else like it.
Pipe comes to my side with the IV and curses. “Fuck, Breaker, she’s going to have this baby any minute.”
“Get me out of here,” I yell, wanting out of here, out of this horrible place.
Breaker lifts me into his arms, Noémie screams and yells, trying to fight her way through the others to get to us. “You can’t have him. Breaker’s mine.”
I don’t know what it is that comes over me. Whatever it is causes me to snap, reaching out to Chains, who’s standing close to Breaker as he holds me. I snatch his gun from his holster. Before anyone can say anything, I point the gun in Noémie’s direction, take aim at my target, and pull the trigger.
Finally, Noémie’s voice goes quiet as she stumbles backward into the wall behind her. One of the snakes closest to her strikes at her as she dies.
Dropping my arms, I hand Chains his g
un back. “Feed them both to Bart or whatever you want, but get me the hell out of here,” I grind out as the strongest contraction I’ve had yet hits, causing me to scream.
“Let’s get her to the truck,” Pipe states, coming up to the other side of Breaker.
My man takes off, rushing through the halls avoiding the dangling vines and the snakes striking at him.
By the time he gets us out the front doors, the air is filled with the smell of rain.
Running with me in his arms, he darts to the truck, Chains and Pipe ahead of him.
“There’s no time to get her to the hospital before this baby comes,” Pipe declares when I moan through another contraction.
“Tyres grab the blanket from under the back seat and lay it across her,” Breaker says.
“Brother, you’re gonna wanna put her in the back seat, go to the other side and get in so you can help hold her up,” Pipe orders. With his medical background, I can understand why he’s in charge right now. “Brake, grab the emergency kit out of my saddlebag.”
Breaker does as Pipe tells him, places me on the back seat, and climbs in on the other side.
Brake comes rushing back and hands him the bag.
“Prez, get in the passenger seat and take Nora’s hand,” Pipe then looks to Tyres. “Can you hold this open?” Tyres takes the bag and keeps it open. Pipe reaches into the bag and pulls out a water bottle. “Someone pour the water over my hands.”
Another contraction hits and I have no choice but to push as I scream in pain. Breaker does what he can to soothe me, but there’s no stopping what’s happening now.
For the next, I don’t know how long Pipe works with me, but through each contraction, I push, and he counts. Chains holds my hand, letting me squeeze while Breaker holds me giving me words of encouragement, even when I don’t want to hear it.
Finally, with one final big push, Oaklen is out screaming out his first cry. Pipe lays him on my chest, and I release Chains’ hand to cradle Breaker’s and my son.
Tears run freely down my cheeks as I hold our little boy, whose birth is one that I’ll never forget.
“He’s fuckin’ perfect, ma chou. So damn perfect.”
After birthing the placenta, Pipe removes his gloves, closes the back door, enclosing us into the back, and gets in the passenger seat as Chains moves to the driver’s seat.
“Let’s get to the hospital now and have them both checked out,” Pipe says while I relax against Breaker, soaking in his strength.
This is one day I’ll never forget, no matter how much I want to.
Oaklen’s here and he’s safe. That woman is dead, both of them. As far as I’m concerned, I hope Bart gets him a nice large meal tonight on behalf of my boys and me.
Chapter Fourteen
Breaker
Holding my woman in my arms as she pushed through the painful contractions without any relief while in the back of my truck is something that will forever be burned into my brain.
After getting to the hospital, Nora and Oaklen were rushed up to the third floor to be checked on while I went to check on Owen. Nora won’t settle until she has eyes on him. I know this and it’s what makes her so strong. She puts our kids first.
Angelina stayed with Owen while one of the ER doctors checked on him. They found a snake bite to his thigh, and not knowing exactly what kind it was, they gave him an antivenom treatment. I feel like shit for my little guy. They wanted to admit him for observation and with Angelina’s help, we got him put into the same room as Nora. They were going to put a medical crib in her room for him.
Sighing, I look to where Nora is finally resting while I hold Oaklen in my arms. She refuses to have either boy out of her sight unless they are being taken for something in the nursery. Even then, she will only allow this if Angelina or I go with them.
Who can blame her for what she’s feeling? Not after what she endured at the hands of a psychotic woman who was so fucked up in the head, she changed her appearance to look like one of the clubwhores.
Nora surprised me when she’d taken the gun from Chains’ holster and shot Noémie right in her chest. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her shoot a gun, but then again, I didn’t think she was interested in them. The only thing about guns that we’d talked about was her wanting to make sure they were locked up high enough Owen couldn’t get them. For this reason, I bought a nice ass gun locker that no one can get into without the code.
I’ll have to take my woman out to the shooting range one day and see what she’s made of. I’m sure she knows a thing or two, considering who her brothers are.
Nora whimpers in her sleep, pulling me from my thoughts. She’d been lucky enough not to be bit or stung by anything. But the fact she had to give birth in the back seat of the truck is enough harm done.
Standing, I place Oaklen in his bassinet the hospital provides for newborns. I make sure he’s okay and move to stand next to the bed. I lean over and press a kiss to her forehead to soothe her fears away. I straighten and step away from my woman, roll the bassinet next to her, and check on Owen one more time.
Needing to make a call, I step out of the room, making sure the prospect is on her door. Heading down the hall, I notice Pitch Black at the nurses’ station talking to his ol’ lady. Those two are always together when they can. It’s as if they gravitate to one another.
Nodding to them, I pull my phone out of my pocket and head out of the room to call Levi. He texted me a bit ago, but I’ve not wanted to leave my family to give him the update without Nora having to hear what she went through. It’s bad enough she went through this whole fucked up ordeal. She doesn’t need to hear others talking about it too. I figured he’d understand my need to protect my woman since she’s his baby sister. Shit, I’m surprised he and his brothers haven’t come storming into the hospital yet. They’re all as protective of my woman as I am.
Sighing, I step into the waiting room and hit call on Levi’s name. I want to get this conversation over with and get back in there with my ol’ lady and boys. They are the only people I want to worry about right now.
He answers right away, “You wanna tell me what the fuck is going on?”
“Long story short, psycho bitches kidnapped Nora and Owen. We are at the hospital now after getting both of them back. Nora gave birth to Oaklen in the back of the truck outside of the medical facility from hell, and Owen was bitten by a snake. The problem has been taken care of.”
Closing my eyes, I pinch the bridge of my nose and lower my head. I’m exhausted and want nothing more than to not ever have to deal with another thing like this again.
“They okay?” he asks. This is Levi’s way of trusting me.
“Yeah, they’ll be okay,” I mutter. The pinging of the elevator has me lifting my head back up to see who was coming off of it.
“Good, we’ll come down in a few days. Give her a chance to get out of the hospital and home where she can rest better,” Levi states as I see Chains and Tyres coming my way.
“That would be good. I’ll see y’all then,” I say and hang up without waiting for a response. I turn my attention to my Prez and VP, “What’s going on?”
“Damon called me back,” Chains announces.
“Okay, and what’s up?”
“Tricks is up in Vegas, but we also had someone check out Noémie’s place.”
“Swear to fuck, brother, it was like walking into a scene from a CSI episode with pictures all over the places. Ones of you, Chains, Tiny, their kids, Nora, and Owen. Shit, there were even some of the strays on another wall. She hated what Tiny and Nora looked like, but she picked the stray she thought would get your attention,” Tyres informs me with a grimace.
Anger boils inside me with each word that comes out of my VP’s mouth.
“No more strays. I’m bringing it to the table. Fuck, I’m tired of this shit,” Chains snarls.
“The strays gotta go. I don’t want any of the ol’ ladies or kids at risk. This is the last time I have mine suffer
for some bullshit,” I state.
“Agreed.” Tyres nods.
He’s single and still agreeing to losing the free pussy. I gotta give my cousin and VP credit, he puts his daughter first always.
“I gotta get back in there.”
“Yeah, mind if we come in to see how she’s doing?” Chains asks.
Nodding, I show them the way. I push the door to her room open, and my heart skips a beat at the sight in front of me. Sitting up, awake, in bed is my ol’ lady cradling our newborn to her breast.
Nora lifts her head as I stay in the doorway, keeping Chains and Tyres out. She smiles. “Hey,” she whispers.
“Hey, Spitfire, you up for some company?” I ask her.
“Yeah, sure,” she says, grabbing the sheet, she pulls it over her and the baby.
Stepping in, I make my way across the room, press a kiss to her lips, running my tongue along the seam.
Moving away from her, I step over to check on Owen in the hospital crib to find him still sleeping peacefully. This doesn’t stop me from feeling like I’m going to erupt at any minute for what my family’s been through.
Chains
Seeing my cousin struggling to keep his anger reeled in pisses me off. This shouldn’t be happening.
After spending some time with them, Tyres and I go back to the clubhouse. I want to know who the hell would be demented enough to do the surgery for Noémie. They had to have seen she wasn’t right in the head.
I park my bike in front of my house and look up to smile at the fact my ol’ lady, my Bitsy, and the woman I love most is standing there with our youngest in her arms.
Fuck me, Tiny never stops amazing me every day.
“I’ll get Wren and get out of y’all’s hair. I need some time with my little girl,” Tyres says.
“Yeah, did you think of what Tiny suggested?” I ask, knowing he’s not real big on the nanny idea. But Tiny really wants to finish getting her certification to become a hairstylist. She’s busted her ass to finish her schooling, getting her GED, and then moving on to take college courses.
