Kiss of Death Page 2

Ryphen gnashed his teeth as his eyes turned into brighter red at the instance. A low growl rumbled from his chest as Ryphen was about to pounce on me. My stomach lurched. I sprang into my fighting position when Mafento grabbed him from the back and pulled him away from me. Ryphen snarled and turned around to resume their battle.

My bones melted inside by the way Mafento had rescued me from Ryphen. Guilt pricked my conscience for forsaking him at the time of his needs. But I had to do what I had to do…

I didn’t realize I was clenching my fists as my gaze darted between the door and Mafento. My mind was running wild I couldn’t think straight. I couldn’t even tear away from the fighting scene where Mafento was looking so fucking hot and masculine. I squeezed my legs together as my pussy wept harder. If I didn’t get the fuck out of the chamber right now, it would smell like my pussy soon.

“Sorry,” I muttered and tore my gaze from Mafento. I couldn’t even bear to look Mafento in the eyes. I felt a sick feeling burning in the pit of my stomach as I bolted through the door. I wrestled to purge out the mental images of the other inmates being turned one by one into Agents of Darkness. I tried not to think about the fall of Mafento.

“Nah, he’s a veteran archangel, he’ll be okay.” I tried to convince myself as I broke into a run from the hallway. The usually quiet campus had an eerie aura to it. As if the campus was alive and knew that the end was near. “Oh god, Tessa, just fucking stop thinking about the fall of Fallen Angels already and instead rejoice my newfound freedom.”

I tried to focus my mind on the long due escape plan that had been sitting in the back of my mind since fifty years ago. All I had to do now was to get to the back entrance of the campus and filter through the forest.

It almost felt as if I was dreaming. I wouldn’t be surprised I was dreaming about my escape if I did sleep. I’d never slept since I was an angel. I’d been using black magic to restore my energy. I was surprised no one caught me yet–

Just as I turned around the corner, I felt an arm wrap around my neck, knocking the breath out of me. My stomach lurched when my eyes were interlocked with another pair of crimson eyes. Oh god, what were the archangels doing? Why were there so many fucking Agents of Darkness lurking on the campus?

Panic engulfed me when the Agent of Darkness tightened his clutch on me, suffocating me. I pinched my eyes closed when he leaned closer, the stench of his warm breath seared my lungs as if his clutch on my neck wasn’t enough to choke me. “Eugh,” I snarled when he started kissing me on the cheeks, wetting my face with his spit. I felt bile rising in my throat as I tried to grope for my dagger.

“Hmm, what is this pretty little brat doing here?” groaned the Agent of Darkness as he tried to slip his hand under the hem of my skirt. His fingers skimmed luxuriously up and down my thighs, making the tiny hairs on my arms stand on ends.

“Definitely not wasting my time with you.” I snarled and kneed him in the crotch. The Agent of Darkness let out a muffled groan. I took the chance to whip out my dagger. In the midst of muttering the curse, the Agent of Darkness grabbed hold of my wrist, twisting my arm tightly until I let out a cry and the dagger slipped out of my grip and clattered on the ground. The blade that was turning neon green turned back into silver.

I bent over to pick up when he slammed my back against the wall and grabbed me by the jaw. Pain spread down my spine. This was it. I thought this was the end of me. Maybe I should stay back and help Mafento. Maybe this was my karma.

“You dumb bitch, you think you’re being so smart, huh?” I was busy gasping for air to reply to him. His lewd eyes, glazed with need, swept over my face and traveled down my chest where his free hand cupped on my breast.

I pursed my lips and let out an anguished groan. My heart was thumping in my chest. I wasn’t aroused. I was disgusted. I couldn’t believe I was saving myself only to lose my virginity to this scum. I hated myself more for not taking the chance with Mafento. My ego was too fragile. I’d rather live my whole life having a secret crush on my older alpha professor than having all my dirty fantasies being crushed by his rejection.

Hot tears burned my eyes as I strained to break free from his hold but his grip was strong as iron as I’d never felt this weak. I sucked in a breath and pinched my eyes closed as he ripped my top, exposing my breasts. I let out a groan and tried to knee him again when he tightened his grip on my neck and slammed the back of my head against the wall.

Pain burst in the back of my skull as my head spun. “You’re so fucking hot. I’d fuck you like a slut you’re.” His voice dripped with lust as he cupped his hand on my bare breast and started thumbing on my nipple when he suddenly disappeared in front of me along with the odor bouncing around me.

I spluttered and caught my breath as the air in the hallway was replaced with a masculine musk of cologne. I blinked quickly for a few seconds as I looked up to a large shadow looming over me. The mysterious stranger was garbed in a fitting black suit that wrapped tightly around his muscular build. He towered over me at six feet. The Agent of Darkness was groveling on the ground, his hand clutching onto his chest before the mysterious stranger whipped out a sword.

A gasp tore from my chest. The sword of an archangel. He impaled his weapon straight into the guts of the Agent of Darkness, who let out a pained growl before his eyes rolled back in his skull. Loud blood was still thrashing in my ears as I tried to wrap my head around the incident that happened a few seconds ago. Who was this brooding stranger with the sword of an archangel?

The face of the mysterious stranger came to light when he stepped closer. “Are you alright?” I almost melted instantly at the charisma exuded from the masculine deep voice. My mouth and throat went dry.

I didn’t realize I was holding my breath when I took his gorgeous facial features to the study. Fine streaks of wrinkles marked his broad forehead. His deep-set brooding brown eyes looked like it held the mystery of the world in them. His sharp aquiline nose matched with his high cheekbones. His clean-shaven jawline looked like it could slice.

  “Holy shit…”

His tanned face took on a brighter shade of red when he turned around and cleared his throat. “You might want to fix up your clothes.” Shame scorched my chest when I looked down and realized that my tits were hanging out and my nipples were tight and erect. My pussy wept as a wave of lust rushed through me.

I licked my tongue across my parched lips and quipped, “You’re welcome,” before tucking them back into my top.

“What are you doing here? All the residents of the campus should be in the lecture hall,” said the mysterious stranger. Who was he? Why did he know about the rules of Fallen Angels? “The lecture hall has been infiltrated.” My thought went to Mafento. “Professor Mafento, he might be in danger. He’s fighting the Agent of Darkness in the lecture hall.”

A concerned look flashed on the brooding stranger’s face. The bulging veins on his neck throbbed as he glared down the empty hallway where I’d come from.

The urgency to leave this place was growing inside me. The fucking Agent of Darkness had wasted enough time. I had to get the fuck outta here before Aliuth and Ehreus came back from their quest to rescue their belle. Now with this mysterious hot stranger standing in my way, my chance of escape was getting slimmer.

“We must go and save Mafento,” said the brooding stranger.

  I nodded.

“It’s too dangerous out here. You must come with me.” Before I could protest, he locked his grip on my wrist. I had no fucking idea what was wrong with me. Whether it was the intimidating gaze or the possessive dominance he exuded through the iron grip, a surge of blazing heat shot through my body.

I had no idea what came over me when I nodded. When we went back to the lecture hall, Mafento was on one knee on the ground, his fingers wrapped tightly around the shaft of his sword that punctured the heart of Ryphen, who laid on his back on the ground with his eyes rolled back in his head.

  T
he other Agent of Darkness and the inmates were not in sight. The only explanation I could come up with was the other Agent of Darkness had been killed and the inmates had fled to safety.

A sad look molded on Mafento’s face. It must be hard for a teacher to have to kill his own student. When Mafento looked up and his eyes fell on the brooding stranger next to me, a surprised look crossed his face. “Urken? What are you doing here?”

In a serious tone, Urken said, “The Divine Principal does not forsake.”

I was standing with my arms crossed over my chest, propped up against the wall outside the Divine Chamber when Lamora finally materialized with Aliuth and Ehreus by her side. I hated to admit the jealousy shooting though me. the new girl came less than a month and got her ass claimed by not only one but two of the most eligible bachelor in Fallen Angels while I was still a fucking virgin after being here for half a century.

I almost felt sorry for Lamora when she took my hands and asked, “Hey, you okay?” guilt crept into my system. There was a small window of chance I could’ve stopped Lamora from being taken away by the Agent of Darkness. If I were braver and took my chance then, Andrajvah wouldn’t have the chance to unleash the Agents of Darkness against Fallen Angels. I wouldn’t have been here.

Lamora could have been gone. I wanted to say something but this anger brewing inside me made me lose my words. I was still mad at Ehreus and Aliuth forcing me to use black magic to get them to the Underworld. I knew I would pay for this. I wriggled her hands off and looked away. From the corner of my eyes, the flitting look of surprise flashed in her eyes. “You owe me one, Lamora.”

Without waiting for a reply, I turned around and went in through the door into the Divine Chamber with Lamora, Aliuth and Ehreus tagging along behind me. Once the door was shut behind the four of us, closing us in in the claustrophobic dimness of the small chamber. The water in the gold vessel which took half of the space in the room glittered and rippled in the air where the vague image of Divine Principal materialized before us.

I’d heard too much about the Divine Principal from Mafento’s lectures but it was the first time I saw him in person. Not something I was proud of. His long white hair flowed down his shoulders were as long as his beard and eyebrows. He didn’t seem pleased with what he was seeing and the tension in the air felt more solid.

“It has come to me that the four of you have broken the protocols of the Fallen Angels which resulted in a chain reaction that brought about the Agents of Darkness into the campus ground,” the Divine Principal’s voice boomed across the small room.

Lamora and I traded looks. Would it have changed the course of history if I acted faster and saved her ass from the Agent of Darkness who dragged her into the Underworld?

“Aliuth, Ehreus,” said the Divine Principal, breaking into my train of thoughts. Aliuth and Ehreus stepped forward, they had the same grim look on their faces. “You two should have known better than storming into the Underworld. It was an obvious trap. Not to mention the abuse of black magic.”

I gulped and looked down when the Divine Principal directed his scowl at me. Jeez, thanks, Ehreus.

Aliuth bent his head in apology. A low growl rumbled from Ehreus’ chest as he stepped forward. “We cannot keep allowing innocent souls being sacrificed. Lamora was in trouble. We had no choice.”

“You should have consulted me before your actions. You had no idea how dire the consequences were.”

A smirk quirked the corner of Ehreus’ lips. “We were running out of time and didn’t want to wait for five business days for a visitation permit.” I pursed my lips to hold back a chuckle when the Divine Principal’s face took on a deeper shade of crimson. Aliuth cleared his throat and nudged Ehreus on the elbow.

“What?” snarled Ehreus, his eyes spitting fire. “You agreed with me on this one.”

The Divine Principal cleared his throat. “We’ve lost fifteen angels during this attack.”

Ehreus’ lips parted to say something but nothing came out. The look of guilt on his face reflected on Aliuth and Lamora. Lamora’s pink eyes were glassy as she lowered her head. “It was all my fault,” she muttered.

“Do you know the impact of your hasty actions now?”

Ehreus pursed his lips and let out a sigh. Aliuth nodded. “Yes, sir.”

“Both of you will be forfeited your freedom of leaving the campus ground until repentance. You may dismiss.” Ehreus snorted through his nostrils and turned around storming out of the chamber, followed by Aliuth quietly. Once the door was shut behind us, the Divine Principal drew his attention to Lamora and me.

“Lamora, are you hurt?” asked the Divine Principal.

Lamora shook her head. “No, I’m sorry, sir. It was all because of me these fifteen angels lost their souls…it was all my fault.”

“You were not at fault, Lamora. Andrajvah is full of tricks and you happened to become a pawn in his games. You must be careful around the campus.” Lamora nodded. “You may dismiss.”

I followed Lamora with my eyes until her shadow disappeared behind the door, shutting the world out of me. A haze of fear bounced around me when I realized I was all alone again, reminding me of my fate. In the end, it was me and me again.

  “Tessa.”

“I fucked up, didn’t I? Yeah, I used black magic and shit. Lemme just admit it so we can skip the formalities.”

“I know you’ve been using black magic. But it’s a small matter in the scheme of things. You attempted escape from Fallen Angels, abandoning those who need your help.” Guilt pricked my conscience when my thought went to Mafento, who saved my ass. “You owe Professor Mafento an apology. It is not fair to punish you for using black magic when Aliuth and Ehreus had blackmailed you to do so. But if you should attempt to escape again, you will feel the sting of your punishment. You may dismiss now.”

I sucked in a deep breath and turned around. It turned out better than I thought but I couldn’t help fuming with anger. Turning around, I left the Divine Chamber and was met with Lamora, Aliuth, and Ehreus who were still hanging around in the hallway. The three of them turned heads and met with my eyes.

Lamora reached out to grab me on the arm and was about to say something when I flung her arm off. I was still pissed at her. Though I agreed with the Divine Principal that she was not at fault, I couldn’t help thinking the fact that she was the cause of all these. She got caught by the Agent of Darkness and prompted this chain of fuckery.

“Save it.” Lamora’s eyes widened in shock. She was about to say something when Ehreus grabbed her by the arms and held her back against his chest. “Let her go.”

I walked down the quiet hallway, alone with my thoughts. I wasn’t even sure if I hated her or was jealous of her. I didn’t like her. I didn’t even like her from the beginning. Now it only proved my point that she made my life worse. I was mentally picturing stabbing her with daggers when I found myself in front of Professor Mafento’s office.

I had no idea how I’d ended up here when my room was on the other side of the building. I must be subconsciously thinking about him. I stood in front of the heavy wooden door which towered me by at least three feet and stared at the golden plaque with Mafento’s name on it. It wasn’t a bad idea after all. If I still wanted to get outta Fallen Angels early, I gotta get on his good side. My previous plan to get on the archangels’ good side was met with failure, so that left me with one choice.

With an explosive sigh, I braved myself to knock on his door.

“Please come in.” Mafento’s muffled voice sent a shiver down my spine as the memories of what happened during the attack flashed back in my mind. I cringed at the disappointed look on his face when our eyes met. Regret crept in. I should’ve walked past and returned to my room, pretending nothing happened.

I contemplated walking away. But the last thing I wanted was for Mafento to think that I was playing pranks on him. Sucking in a deep breat
h, I opened the door. The creamy smell of leather whiffed into my nose as my boots sank into the soft crimson carpet. Mafento sat behind his dark wood escritoire with his back against the wall of majestically massive bookshelves that would make Lamora squirm with excitement.

I closed the door behind me, listening to the soft click sealing me in Mafento’s room. I gulped, feeling the raw heat rushing through my veins when my eyes fell on his face. The desk lamp cast a shadow on his face, emphasizing his features.

I probably owed Lamora an apology too. It was because of her I got the chance of being here all alone with Mafento. My magic professor might be two hundred years older than me but damn, those chiseled muscles bulging against his shirt and the broad shoulders proved otherwise.

The wet hotness grew within my thighs as the dirty fantasies of what he might do to me when we were both alone behind the locked door of his office whirled around my head. God, this is so sinful yet it felt so good…
