Daring the Devil (Reigning Hell Book 1) Page 20

by Larry, Natasha

I nodded, grateful an angel had my back, even though I wasn’t exactly on his “side,” though our sides had been royally blurred these last few days.

The four of us fell quiet, my mind on the demon-catching process that lay ahead, a few massive doubts about how I would do as Queen of Hell, if I would even survive the throne, and all the unanswered questions that had led us to this point. And Zane, especially Zane, wherever he was.

Once we entered the school’s front doors, I spotted Miss Molly sitting on the floor farther down the hallway. Mrs. Crenshaw crouched over her and held an ice pack to her head, but other than that and her stunned expression, she appeared okay.

Boy, I had some explaining to do.

Blade nudged me with a handkerchief and a small, crooked grin. “You have soot all over your face, my queen.”

I took it, but I didn’t have the energy to thank him. My mind seemed to home in on the title of queen and then recoil in tired aversion. But I’d made my choice. Now I had to act the part. It was time I played the Devil.

  The End

Playing the Devil, book 2 of the Reigning Hell series, is coming soon!
