Southern Comfort (Lunchtime Chronicles, #23)

Veering around the cop that tried to cut me off with very little wiggle room between us and the guardrail was exhilarating. I slid through the opening with inches to spare. The cop car went careening into the rail, flipping over and falling down the cliff below. Oh well, he shouldn’t have been chasing me. With one cop out of the way, I watched in horror as the bad guys decided to clip the rear panel of the remaining cop, causing it to roll. The vehicle stopped chasing us and decided to switch things up. They exited the SUV and began a shootout with the police. The last thing I saw in the mirror as I drove away was the trooper’s head exploding from the shot to the head.
“Fuck, baby! I’m coming!”
I felt lightheaded as I shot my creamy goodness into Lina’s hungry mouth. She licked me clean, tucked my manhood back into my pants and zipped me up. I decreased my speed down to 75 MPH, keeping one eye on the road, and the other on her. Malina sat up, licked her lips, and kissed me with so much passion I lost my breath. Yeah, she was my cocaine!
“I fucking love you, Lina.”
She said nothing, but the look in her eyes told me everything I needed to know. Suddenly, she broke out into the most heartwarming laugh I had ever heard. The laughter was contagious. I pulled her to my mouth and kissed her again.
“I am going to find somewhere to pull over. You are going to get dressed and then you are going to drive for a bit. I’m dead tired.”
“You must be tired. Never in a million years did I think you would allow me to drive your baby.”
“I am, and you better take it easy, woman. Hell, you never know. I just might make you come for me!”

Driving for about five miles, I finally spotted a rest stop. Pulling into the parking lot, I stopped the car and looked around for threats. Finding no reason for us to be alarmed, I parked the car parallel to the building near the door, so Malina could go in to relieve herself and get dressed.
“Babe, you go ahead to the restroom. I will stay here until you get back. Take the phone with you and I will text 911 if anything happens.”
“Are you sure? I don’t feel right leaving you alone.”
“I’ll be fine. I may not have your skillset, but I know how to defend myself.”
She gave me a shaky smile but then grabbed her dress, placed an additional clip in her thigh holster, and headed inside. With the convertible top down on the car, I stood on the sidewalk just in case I needed to spring into action. These people that were after us had an uncanny way of finding where we were, and it made me uneasy. As the gruff voice of DMX barked from my speaker, I heard the distinct sound of a drone buzzing overhead. Now, it wasn’t close, but I loved drones and used them in my work daily, so I recognized the sound. We were in a remote area, so there was no reason to have one here unless... FUCK!
Just as the thought entered my mind, I heard the crunching of tires in the distance. So, that’s how they kept finding us. They were tracking us using the drone. I quickly hit 911 and sent the text to Malina, but the phone had no cell service. Maybe the drone was blocking cell phone transmissions too. Snagging my handheld automatic from the center console, I dashed inside of the building to warn Lina.
“Lina, incoming!”
That was all I needed to say. Before I could reach the ladies restroom, Lina was coming out of the door wearing a maxi dress and a snarl. She quickly tied the tail end of the dress up around her thighs, distracting me for a bit. It was obvious she was used to fighting in a dress, because the knots she tied on the outside of her legs slid into place without much effort. She had room to run, kick and jump if need be. Her hair was fashioned into a ball on the top of her head and she looked like a bad ass version of Wonder Woman™. Damn, she was hot.
“How many of them are there?”
“I’m not sure. I noticed a drone overhead and then I heard tires rolling our way. The cell phone signal is blocked, so I decided to come inside.”
“Let ‘em come. I’ve got something for their asses.”
As she was saying that, we heard the footsteps of boots running toward the building. That’s when Lina’s beast came out. Her eyes, though they remained the same color, appeared to change in size. She snarled and positioned herself to face the front door. Then she motioned for me to get behind her. I shook my head, but she scowled. Fuck. My baby was scary. I complied with her order.
“We don’t have much time, G. I know you’re an alpha and your instinct is to protect, but I need you to follow my lead if we are going to walk out as victors. I need to know you have my six at all times. Stand with your back against mine. We need to cover all possible entry points. There is a backdoor about 30 feet away. When they come, it will be at a disadvantage because they won’t be able to see around the corner. Take them out as soon as you see any movement. I am counting on you not to freeze up like you did at the restaurant.”
“I got you, baby. You can count on me.”
“That’s what I wanted to hear. Okay, here we go. Don’t stop shooting until I tell you. If I die, know that I love you more than anyone else on this earth.”
“See you on the other side, baby.”
Gunshots rang out all around us. I concentrated on the men coming from the back hallway. There were six of them. Focus, G! Picking them off one by one, while keeping my body connected to Malina’s, wasn’t easy. I knew our lives depended on me getting rid of these men, so I didn’t hesitate to fill them with holes. The semi-automatic worked its magic as bodies started falling to the floor. That song by Drowning Pool played as the glorious soundtrack, in my head.
By the time Malina shouted for me to look up at the ceiling, it was too late. A man came crashing through the skylight, shooting at us. Instinct took over as I tucked and rolled, leaving Malina vulnerable. Shit! I jumped up and shot one man in the head, then spun around just in time to see another man shoot my woman. I saw red, forgetting about the weapon in my hand, I jumped on the man and pounded his face in. I didn’t stop until I heard my baby’s voice.
“Enough, G. He’s been dead.”
That’s when I realized there were no more men coming for us. The place was silent, but a disaster area. Blood and bullet holes lined the walls. Navigating the carpet of shattered glass and corpses, I ran to Malina to see if she was alright.
“Baby, are you okay?”
“I’m fine. It was through and through. I just need some liquor and duct tape. Easy fix.”
I looked at her wound and there was minimal blood. She was able to use her arm and seemed to be in little to no pain. I also knew she was running on adrenaline and her pain receptors were muted. Once she came down, her arm was going to ache like hell.
“Let’s get out of here,” I said moving toward the door.
“No!”
Lina grabbed my arm, preventing me from leaving. I turned to see what was going on and saw a feral look in her eye. She wanted me, right there in the middle of all that carnage. She reached up and kissed me. When she bit my lip drawing blood I groaned loudly. That shit was so fucking hot that my dick got hard immediately. I lifted her in my arms and dropped her on the visitor’s desk. She thrust her arms out on the desk, sweeping the brochures and maps to the floor.
“Fuck me hard, G. I need to feel you.”
I had no condoms, but it didn’t matter. Neither of us would live long enough to find out if she got pregnant. Anything we did was nonconsequential. We could actually live free without worry. Death was on our back, but what lied ahead was nothing except a freedom that most people never got to experience.
Taking out my cock, I fisted it a couple of times to spread the precum on the head. Her skirt was already pushed up around her hips. In the time it took me to unzip, she had removed her thong and tossed it behind her. It landed on the face of one of the dead men. Lucky bastard. He better be glad he was already dead, or I would kill him for knowing how my lady’s honey smelled.
I shoved my hardness into her with great force, causing her body to p
ush backward on the desk. Malina cried out in pleasure encouraging me to keep going. She was tight as hell and wet as water. Damn. She really liked killing. Her pussy was a tsunami and I wanted it to suck me in and drown me. I drove into her with wild abandon. My right hand shot to her clit, and I flicked it with my thumb as I pumped in and out. She met my every stroke, moving those amazing hips back and forth in perfect rhythm with mine. She needed to come soon because I was struggling to keep it together.
I leaned forward biting her nipple on her right breast and sucking it into my mouth. That one was more sensitive than the left one. She had once told me that it sent electric current shooting to her clit. And just like I anticipated, Malina screamed out as she creamed all over my cock. The sight of her goodness coating my manhood was just the trigger I needed to release my own cum inside her.
The woman had me panting like a racehorse in the summer. I pulled out of her, leaned forward, and kissed those delicious lips. Before I could blink, Lina hopped off of the desk, lowered herself to her knees, and licked our combined juices from my cock. After cleaning me up, she stood and shoved her tongue in my mouth, sharing her spoils with me. Fuck, I need to marry this woman. She needs to be my wife when I die.
“Marry me Lina? Be my wife as we head into the next world.”
Lina simply nodded her head took me by the hand and led me out of the building after collecting our weapons. Once we reached the car, she jutted her hand out, palm up.
“Keys?”
I reached into my pocket and tossed her the keys to Sophia. We jumped in with Lina driving. I had a feeling I would regret letting her drive, but I was too tired to continue. The familiar buzzing above my head came back causing me to look up. I was briefly blinded by the setting sun, but quickly recovered. Shit, that damn drone was still hovering over us. That meant whoever was after us knew we survived the last attempt. As I was thinking of a master plan, my woman snarled, grabbed my weapon out of my lap, and shot the damn drone out of the sky. Fucking wild!

Messy Buckets
“Babe, that last battle got me to thinking. We need to live the rest of our time together fearlessly. There are things I want to see and do before the end comes. How about you?”
Lina looked at me briefly and I could see the wheels turning in her head.
“Yep. I agree. We need to live life like we want because tomorrow is literally not promised. You know the first thing I want to do?”
“What?” I smiled at the woman who made my heart leap into my throat every time I looked at her.
Lina pointed at a billboard that we were passing and started laughing. I shook my head at her. No fucking way. She smiled at me and nodded her head with enthusiasm.
“I need to get my hands on one of those chicken sandwiches that everyone is going crazy over. There is no way I am going to my grave without knowing how good it tastes. Plus, I never did get my cheeseburger and I am starving.”
Two miles later, Lina took the exit and followed the sign that took us to this so-called amazing chicken sandwich. Luckily, there wasn’t a long line. As soon as I smelled the food in the air, my stomach reminded me the last time I ate was the night before. After the day we had, I was starving. I ordered two of those coveted sandwiches.
“I know one thing; this damn sandwich better be as good as advertised or I’m shooting up this entire place.”
Lina joked with a twinkle in her eyes. She wasn’t the type to kill innocent people. We didn’t do that kind of thing.
“Let’s treat this like a taste test. We’ll both try it at the same time. Ready, set, bite!”
I bit down into the most delicious thing I have eaten next to Lina’s pussy. I was hooked! They had to have put some kind of chemical that triggered addiction in that food because as soon as I was finished, I wanted another one. Good thing we both ordered two. We ate in silence. Okay that was a lie. We didn’t talk to each other while we ate the second sandwich, but the car was far from silent. There were several moans and groans coming from our vehicle, and all of them had to do with the food we were scarfing down. Shit, I even started rocking back and forth like a fat kid eating cake. Just as I took my last bite, I noticed a young lady walking toward the car.
Both of us were on high alert, readying our weapons in case we had to fight our way out of the parking lot. The girl approached my side with a smile on her face. She was holding her phone and from the sounds that came from the phone she was watching a video of a loud-mouthed woman calling herself Messy Mandy.
“What’s Up Lunchtime? It’s me, Messy Mandy, with a public service announcement.”
The girl’s smile grew as she looked from me to Lina. “OMG! I can’t believe it. It’s the modern-day Bonnie and Clyde. You guys are famous. Can I get a picture with you for the gram?”
Before we could say no, the chick turned her back, extended her arm and snapped a picture with us. Before I could protest, Lina had shot out of the car and was on the passenger side of the vehicle with the girl’s phone in one hand and her arm in the other. The silly girl’s eyes went wide, and she started crying. Shit. Lina hated weak women and this girl was in danger of being shot. I had to step in to smooth things over.
“I’m sorry, Miss, but we can’t allow you to post our picture online. It would be bad for us.”
I placed my hand over Malina’s, and she released the girl, but held onto the phone. The shocked expression in her face was comical.
“Who the fuck is this Messy Mandy and why is she talking shit about us?”
The girl hesitated for a moment, but then answered after drying her tears. Thank God she stopped crying as quickly as she started.
“Mandy is an online gossip columnist. She usually covers celebrities, but she also covers social justice issues, and hot topics in the news. And you two are H-O-T!”
“What makes us so H-O-T?” Lina mocked the poor girl who was too dumb to realize she was being made fun of.
“There is video footage of you guys all over the place. It started with you running away from a wedding in a cut up gown. Another one showed you all in a huge shootout with all these men, and getting away in this badass car. There’s even this hot footage of you guys making out. Your videos have gone viral! Mandy picked up the feed and has been sharing information about you all day.”
Lina looked like her head was going to pop off her shoulders and launch into orbit. Grumbling about meddlesome gossip columnists, Malina shoved the phone into the girl’s hands and went back to the car. I smiled at the girl and made my way into the passenger seat.
“Babe, try to calm down. This could work to our advantage.”
She cut her eyes at me but allowed me to continue.
“Lina, stop being so angry. You know we are living on borrowed time. There is no room for anger. If this Mandy chick is going to cover our story then we should be the one spinning the narrative, not anyone else. We can’t allow our legacy to be something negative. We should call her and explain our side.”
I could see the wheels turning in her head. She knew I was right but was too damn stubborn to admit it. I leaned over and tickled her to lighten the mood. She hated it when I tickled her, but she also loved it at the same time.
“Stop, G! You know I can’t stand it when you do that.”
Her laughter rang out into the parking lot earning the attention of bystanders. When I looked out into the gathering crowd, I noticed that most people had their cameras pointed at us.
“Babe, if these people are recording us, it just might be a blessing. The longer people are interested in capturing us on video, the longer we could stay alive,” Lina exclaimed.
“What do you mean? How is us being recorded going to keep us alive?”
“No assassin worth his or her salt wants to get captured on camera completing a mark. This Messy Mandy chick may have just bought us some more time.”
“Okay, now how do we spin it?”
“These people seem to like the drama factor. I say we call h
er and give her a phone interview, where I proceed to hand her ass to her, like Whitney did with that Wendy lady. People are still talking about that many years after Whitney’s death.”
“That would fuel the fire and keep people interested in our story. Let’s do it.”
We got out of the car and approached the same girl that spoke to us earlier. We convinced her to go live on her social media and tag Mandy. I stood behind Lina as she addressed the rumors and bullshit that Mandy had been spreading about us. We both had our shades on and the girl who shot the footage, kneeled so we were looking down into the camera. A tactic I learned a while back. It is meant to intimidate the person you are addressing.
“Mandy, I heard you have been talking shit about us and we want to clear the air. If you want an exclusive interview, hit @tikkasworldinc in her DMs and tell us how to contact you. We have a short window to respond so don’t keep us waiting.”
We waited less than 30 seconds before there was a ding, signifying the girl, @tikkasworldinc, had a DM from Mandy. She wanted to interview us right away. We called the number provided. While we waited to be connected to Mandy, we got in the car and headed down the interstate We couldn’t sit in one place too long. Mandy had a big attitude when she came on the line. That was not the way to talk to Malina after the day we had.
“What’s up Lunchtime? This is Messy Mandy and I have a special edition of the Chronicles for you. We are talking with the infamous modern-day Bonnie & Clyde that you have seen all over Al Gore’s internet. You won’t hear this interview anywhere else. Caller, are you there?”
“Yes, we’re here.”
“Woo child. You two are a viral sensation! I mean you are tearing the south up like General Grant, honey. When are you going to stop running and turn yourselves in to the police?”
“First of all, we haven’t broken any laws. The videos, you are so recklessly playing all over your site, are just one snippet of what is happening with us.”
