“This is my mate Chloe. Show her some fucking respect before I strangle your ass.” Something about seeing Tristan stick up for her let her know that he wasn’t embarrassed to be her mate. He wasn’t trying to hide her and he was confident in their relationship. Gemma realized that even though she was hurt at what Chloe said she couldn’t stand there like a hurt puppy.

“Look,” she stated. “I don’t care what you and him had. You don’t have it anymore and he’s not yours to touch. So keep your lips off what’s mine.”

“I’m sorry is the puppy talking to me?” Chloe asked. Gemma’s eyes glowed with the power of her wolf. This time she walked up to Chloe slowly.

“You have a lot to learn little wolf,” Chloe sneered. “Maybe when you can’t give him the pleasure he wants he’ll come straight home to me again. So be prepared to share him puppy-” Gemma snapped her arm out and punched Chloe in the throat. The force of the hit sent Chloe to her knees. While she clutched at her throat with one hand, Gemma grabbed the other hand and twisted it counter clockwise. Owen tried to step forward to help Chloe but Kellan stopped him. Gemma had every right to defend her mating bond.

“I’ll break your fucking arm,” Gemma gritted. Her wolf eyes continued to beam down on Chloe.

“Call me a puppy all you fucking want to. But that doesn’t change the fact that he belongs to me; and he’ll never belong to you. I kill for what’s mine so unless you have a death wish, you’d back the fuck off. Don’t worry about what the fuck I can and can’t do. Because the last time he was in this pussy; he shot a well satisfied nut deep in my guts.” Chloe looked at her in horror and both jealousy. Gemma let go of her arms and pushed her back. Chloe tried clearing her throat to get the feeling back from the punch. Chloe gave Tristan a hard look before scrambling back and hiding behind Owen. Gemma turned and looked at Tristan solemnly before she walked away. Tristan didn’t care that Owen was there to deliver news to them. He just cared that his mate was still upset. So he promptly followed her. She went into her bedroom and plopped down on the bed.

“So that’s the type of woman you like huh?” Gemma asked. “She is very pretty.” Tristan got on his haunches in front of her.

“You’re the type of woman I like Gemma. Actually I more than like you. We all have our pasts Gemma. And regardless of that, you’re my future.” He took her hand and kissed it. His confessions made Gemma weak in the heart. But she knew that Chloe was indeed correct. If she didn’t please her mate he would be unhappy with her.

“I’ll be just like her in bed soon I just need-” Tristan shook his head heavily.

“I don’t need you to be anyone but yourself Gemma. Sex with Chloe was good. I’m not gonna lie. It was really good in fact. But the sex I had with you? Being your first and only; that means so much more to me than anything I did with Chloe. My heart and my soul is with you when we have sex Gemma. Not just my dick. So I need you to be you when we make love because no one on this earth can make me feel those things besides you. Without you sex would mean nothing again.” Gemma’s breath left her in a shudder at his words. Tristan stood, still holding her hand and making her stand. He didn’t have to say anything else. Gemma understood the power of what he felt. She didn’t care what Chloe could say to her. Tristan’s words had made it clear that nothing else should matter.

Back out in the kitchen, Owen was informing him about the human activity. It was still rampant through the woods and wolves were still being hunted. For the whole time; Tristan held Gemma’s hand not wanting to let go. And Chloe just stared enviously at them. Gemma could only smirk realizing that she’d won. Despite how bad Chloe wanted to make her feel; she had won.

By the time Owen and Chloe left; the pack was filled with new information on humans. Including what Owen thought was some form a captivity happening and clubs in the human towns were being used to cover up their activity.

“So now I have to deal with more humans and the shit Dell is up to,” Kellan said.

  “What shit?” Tristan asked.

“Dell knows who attacked us and killed Rita. Niles thinks he’s just using the man for weapons so that his pack would have protection, but still, if he knew who the man was he should have told me. Especially knowing that Rita would have been dead if it hadn’t been for Mira.”

“So what are you going to do about it?” Bliss questioned.

“I’m not sure. Every time I’m looking for the damn wolf. I can’t seem to find him. Niles doesn’t know where he goes, but if I get my hands on him, he’s not going to like it.”

“I’m so sick of people coming at us. Like what the fuck did we do?” Kyra asked.

“You’re sick of it?” Kellan laughed. “Imagine how I feel. I can’t let someone else almost die in my pack. I feel like a weak ass alpha, and I’m not down for that shit. So Dell, and whoever the fuck this man is who attacked us, to begin with, are gonna get the Kellan they didn’t know existed.” He smirked at his pack, and even though he seemed like he was being calm and collected, there was a menacing look to his features. Everyone always said that Kellan and his father were completely opposite, they didn’t understand that they were different because Kellan chose to appear that way. Deep down he was just as ruthless as Kameron, and if he promised a brutal killing, then that was what that person was going to get.

“So, is Niles going to be part of your pack now?” Mira asked. She did like Niles, but if he was going to be part of the pack, then there was no way she shouldn’t be part of it either. She had done way more, and Rita was alive because of it.

“I don’t know,” Kellan shrugged. “But he’s around Bliss, and she hasn’t growled at him, so maybe that’s a good sign. Then again he could be trying to trap me and selling me stories for his alpha.”

“I’m not I promise!” he exclaimed. Kellan heard the truth in his words, but he still wanted to shake the young wolf up.

“Well, you’d better not be. Cause I’ll rip your heart out and eat it.” Niles’s eyes went wide as fear pumped through his body. Kellan stared him down for two minutes before the men began laughing.

“Don’t scare the kid,” Jayce laughed. Niles saw everyone laughing and visibly relaxed.

“Good one,” he said to Kellan.

“Lighten up kid,” Kellan smiled at him. “You and Mira, if proven to me trustworthy after all this shit is over, is welcomed into the pack. That is of course if Bliss agrees with me.”

“We won’t disappoint,” Mira smiled. She looked at Jaxson who smiled at her but didn’t look at her for too long.

“Seeing as we may have a big fight on our hands to end all the shit going on, in the meeting I suggested we need all hands on deck. Niles not for nothing you’re a loyal wolf, but you can’t fight for shit. I can’t make you do anything ‘cause I’m not your alpha, but Zander is going to be trained to be an enforcer. You’re welcome to take the training with him.”

“I’d love that!” Niles said. “I want to train.”

  “Good. That training happens immediately.”

  “Immediately like how?” Jaxson asked.

“Right now,” Kellan said. “Get to it.”

“I wanna train too,” Kyra said following the men out. Gemma was hesitant. She wanted to train, but she also didn’t want to amp her wolf up at the moment. However she did want to spend some time with Tristan. As if seeing her battling with herself, Tristan made the decision for her.

“You can come watch Gem,” he told her. He held out his hand for her to take. She took it happily and walked side by side with him.

Since everyone else was going except the Alphas and the Betas, Mira went to watch the training. Truthfully she just wanted to be close to Jaxson. For some reason, the moment she was fully healed he wasn’t paying that much attention to her, almost like he was ignoring her or something. She wasn’t going to let him get by easy, so she was going to be on his ass. Because here he was ignoring her, but he was treating Kyra as if they were a couple or some shit. She didn’t think so, but, for no
w, she would remain silent and just watch.

In the cellar where the training was kept, all the men stripped off their shirts. Kyra was wearing leggings and a sports bra under her t-shirt, so she took her t-shirt off because she knew she was about to sweat her ass off dealing with the rest of the guys. Mira gave her a look before plopping down in the corner of the room. Kyra rolled her eyes and looked to Jaxson. He was already looking at her, his eyes grazing the top of her sports bra.

“See something you like?” she asked aloud, but Jaxson wasn’t embarrassed at all. He smiled at her and shrugged.

“Nah, I like em bigger,” he said motioning to her breasts. Kyra gasped and tried not to laugh. She flew at him ready to attack, but he was there to counter her attack, and so the training began.

Gemma watched intently as the others trained. Her wolf was perked up, sitting and waiting for the right moment as if someone was dangling a treat in front of her face. Gemma held tight to her control. She wasn’t letting her wolf out. She liked to have control, and she wasn’t going to face the consequences of anything if her wolf made her do something rash. So Gemma tried to pay attention to Tristan. His carved, chocolate body was dripping with sweat. He moved with power and strength that made Gemma’s mouth water. Suddenly he was becoming the treat that her wolf was looking at instead of paying too much attention to the actual fighting. The memory of his large dick pulsing within her echoed through her walls. She began craving more like he was a drug, and she needed her fix. In fact, she did need her fix.

Gemma, you’re distracting me, he said into her head. She snapped from her thoughts and straightened up.

Sorry! She snickered. He got his footing underneath him and threw Niles up against the wall. Niles was quick to his feet. Tristan showed him how to keep his weight balanced and to counter being grabbed around the arms.

Gemma lowered herself to the ground to keep watch. The training lasted for almost four hours before the trainees called it quits. Niles and Zander were splayed out on the ground, both bleeding from their nose and lips. Kyra was the only one standing. She was panting and wiping blood from her bottom lip.

“I didn’t mean to get you that hard,” Jaxson said as he went up to her. He examined her lips closely.

“It’s fine. Another wolf attacking me won’t care that I’m a female or he hit me too hard. If he’s fighting me, it’s going to be to kill me.”

“If you say so,” he sighed. He wiped away more blood from her lips. To Gemma, it looked like he was two seconds away from kissing her, but then he backed away quickly as if he was just burned by fire.

“I need a shower,” she sighed shaking her head and walking out of the cellar.

“How-how is she even standing right now?” Zander gasped, sitting up watching Kyra walk away.

“That ain’t no ordinary female,” Niles supplied. “I can just tell.” Jaxson agreed, but he kept his mouth shut.

“Training same time tomorrow,” he said as he left the room. Mira quickly got up and followed him out. It took Niles and Zander longer to gather themselves and leave the cellar.

“How am I ever gonna become an enforcer?” Zander questioned. “No way can I beat any of them.”

Tristan smiled as he heard what Zander said. The guy had guts even if he didn’t believe he would ever be good enough. Now alone in the cellar, Tristan looked at Gemma.

“You’re a naughty little wolf ain’t you?” he questioned.

“I had to think about something or else she was going to be determined to be let out to join the fight,” Gemma said speaking of her wolf.

“Well, there’s no one around. Let her come out and fight with me.”

  “She’ll destroy you,” Gemma scoffed.

“Prove it,” he smiled. Gemma stood, getting into the fighting stance she’d learned from him. He advanced towards her ready to fight. They exchanged blows back and forth before Tristan swept his foot across Gemma’s ankles sending her to the ground flat on her ass.

“Come on Gemma, I taught you better than that,” he scolded her. “Get up.” She scowled at him.

  “Well, I’m trying!” She exclaimed.

“No, you’re not. Plant your damn feet and counter my attacks.’ She stood angrily and began attacking him, but he blocked her each and every time before sending her to the ground again.

  “Get up,” he ordered.

“No. I’m done,” she sighed. If he pushed her anymore, her wolf was going to take over.

“So that’s what we’re doing? Quitting?”

“Yes! You’re pushing me too damn far!”

“Get your ass up Gemma,” he waved her off. Gemma stood and glared up at him.

“What you want from me huh?”

“You’re holding back,” he said to her.

“I’m trying not to lose control! You want me to lose control and not be able to stop myself?!”

“That’s the thing, Gemma. If you never give control willingly to your animal, she’s always going to forcefully take it. You need to trust her. Give into that hardened part of you Gemma. That bitch part of you that you claim to have.” He pushed her back down to the ground.

“Let your wolf protect you in ways you can’t protect yourself. She’s not gonna hurt me. I refuse to accept my mate as some sort of quitter. So get the fuck back up and attack me like I’ve taught you, Gemma.”

Gritting her teeth, Gemma released her hold on her wolf. The animal didn’t push forward to make Gemma shift, but she gave Gemma a burst of power and tenacity she didn’t have before. She launched herself at Tristan. Stabbing him with her fist in his throat, he stumbled back. She roundhouse kicked him in the head before jabbing him in the stomach then kicking him across the Achilles heel. He fell immediately. Gemma knocked him in the face with her knee and when he fell flat on his back and placed her foot on his throat. She thought she was going to complete the maneuver and crush his larynx, but her wolf backed off, allowing Gemma to come down to herself again. She immediately moved her foot away from his throat and backed up gasped. Tristan sat up with a big smile on his face.

“Now that’s what I’m talking about my Gem,” he smiled.

“I could have hurt you!” she snapped. “Why’d you make me do that!”

“Because you have a disconnect with your wolf that you need to solve.”

“So you think forcing me to let her have control will solve it?”

“It’ll help,” he said. “Truthfully Gemma, you know you and your wolf are very different. That’s a unique kind of thing. Usually, most shifters and their wolves share the same personalities. I realize though that your wolf is just a different side of you. A side that you can tap into if you wanted to.”

  “Meaning?”

“You say she’s mean and is always looking for a fight, but if you’re pissed off enough Gemma, you can be just as mean as she is. Only difference is she’s mean all the time, and you’re not. But there are instances that you need to let her be able to be free, to give her that control or she’s always going to be fighting you for control and making you lose. Fighting makes your wolf content because she gets to be free. I think we should train you more.”

“Fighting isn’t the only thing that makes her content. You do too.”

“Well that’s because both me and my wolf are jackasses,” Tristan smiled. “Your wolf likes that type.”

“It makes me wonder then why the hell I’m attracted to you since I’m not mean or a jackass.”

“Well, this jackass traveled the woods and dug up flowers just to bring it back to you to show his appreciation of you as his mate. And that was something both you and your wolf enjoyed.” Gemma smiled shyly and got close to him. She plopped herself down onto his lap.

“Guess the universe really doesn’t make mistakes,” she said. He ran his hands through her hair.

“No, she doesn’t.” He held onto her and stood up, keeping her in his arms. He carried her out of the cellar and brought her to his bedroom. He set her down then so he co
uld take his jeans off, before taking her clothes off and carrying her into the shower with him. Through the steam of the water, they kissed and touched each other, but he didn’t make the ultimate move that she needed him to make. She wanted him deep inside her, fucking her into the next lifetime, but his movements were easy and light as if she was a porcelain doll.

“Tristan,” she groaned when he touched his clit fleetingly. He shut off the water and got out of the shower. He wrapped a towel around his waist and handed her a towel for herself.

  “What?” he asked.

“You’re teasing me,” she whispered. She didn’t take the towel from him because she wanted to be fucked.

“Give your body time to recover Gem,” he told her.

“I am a shifter, Tristan. I recovered twenty minutes after you finished milking my pussy of orgasms,” she said crossing her arms. He smirked at her.

“You think you’re ready for these things, but you got some time sweetheart.” Since she wasn’t getting out of the shower, he wrapped the towel around her and carried her from the stall. She struggled in his hold and forced him to put her down in his bedroom.

“You think I’m not ready?” she asked him. He nodded at her. She didn’t even want to argue with him. She wanted to know exactly what he thought she wasn’t ready for.

“How do you like it?” she asked climbing onto his bed. Taking off his towel he put on boxer briefs before he laid next to her.

“Is that a trick question?” he asked. “For me to get myself in trouble?”

“No. It’s a mate trying to learn about her mate. Now tell me how you like it.”

“I like it as long as it’s with you,” he shrugged.

“Bullshit,” she laughed knowing he was saying that just to appease her.

“Serious,” he smiled. “Sometimes I want it soft and lustful other times I want to hard and raw. But that’s anyone. I know you wanted your first time to be gentle and sweet, but I know on the other hand your wolf wants a fucking. Which she’s still gonna get.”
