No part of this book may be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means without prior written consent of the author. This includes electronic or mechanical transmission, photocopying, recording, information retrieval systems or storage.

This book is a work of fiction and is intended for adults only. It is an epic fairy tale romance with a fearless princess and a monster who makes no excuses for himself. It is set in a dystopian world where violence and sexual situations are part of daily life. It features extreme themes unsuitable for some readers. There are no paranormal shifters in this book. Proceed with caution. No cliffhanger, and a happily ever after is guaranteed.

Any names, businesses, places, or events in this work are fictional. Any similarities to living or dead people, incidents, companies, products, or organizations are purely coincidental.

  Dear Readers,

This is an Omegaverse non-shifter romance set in the dystopian world of the 12 sectors. This world is violent and misogynistic compared to our current times. Here, strength rules everything. Drenched in violence and raw intimacy, the characters come together in this book often, exploring their relationship physically as much as mentally. If you don’t like chapters filled with sex, if violence makes you squeamish, this is not the book for you.

My last book ended with a tease for the selfish rogue - Merrick. I have his story planned out in my head and I know how he meets his omega. But this is not that book. I went to start his story and his older bother stepped in the way, demanding his due. Set in the same world, you have never met this couple.

I will write Merrick’s story and have ideas for more in this world. But it will have to come after finish another short series set in a different world where the Omegaverse dynamics mix with fantasy.

I never expected anyone to enjoy my writing. Not on the wonderful, generous scale to which Choosing Her Alpha was received. Therefore, I didn’t jump in with a grand book plan. I was just…writing, and I inadvertently created 3 completely different Omegaverse worlds in a matter of months. I hope you enjoy those worlds as much as you enjoy this on.

What readers enjoy and what you want means a lot to me. Please look for special 1st person, "role-play" audios that will help fill in the time jump gaps between books. There are also several narrations by @inmyhandsaudio (twitter) highlighting Darre's first person point of view. The same, but different from the story. These can be found on my blog at Isoellenwrites.Blogspot.com. I hope you enjoy this fun, free gift.

Thank you, readers. I appreciate you. Your reviews and feedback keep me writing, so please feel free to find me and chat on all my social media platforms. I will do my best to get back to you.

  Much Love,

  Naya

Knitting in hand, Naya reached for the basket of yarn, but instead of pulling it closer, her nervous fingers tipped it over and a rainbow of her favorite colors spilled across the carpet.

In her own chair with her embroidery work nearby, her mother sighed, the heavy sound filling the quiet front room.

Feeling scrutinized even though Mother hadn’t raised her head to watch, Naya scooped up the mess.

"Why are you so fidgety today, dear one?" Sweet-voiced and girlish even though she was old enough to have several grandchildren, Mother’s tone held disappointment. "The boy and his father will be here soon; you're going to wrinkle your clothing and muss your hair with all this fussing. Can you not take a breath and calm yourself?"

"I will try, Mother. Perhaps I'm just close to my time," Naya said.

She leaned down, chasing after a fluffy ball of azure that had rolled toward the picture window. The second rain of the afternoon had opened up over the neighborhood, beading the view.

The four-story row houses of her affluent Sector 5 community sported stately, vine-covered facades and small, neatly contained herb box gardens. Last year an imprudent neighbor had tried to plant succulents instead of herbs. Her mother had filed a petition to have her ticketed for the outrage.

Mother liked things a certain way.

They lived on a quiet street where most transportation was restricted, along with any kind of commerce. Few residents used the principal thoroughfare. Every year, at least one person suggested they remove it and plant trees.

But her mother enjoyed the prestige of having an entire street available for the private vehicle her husband used for official business. No one else on their street had such an allowance. Most people used public transport, sent their hired drones by pedal bike, or hired a drone-pulled wagon.

Regulated and expensive, private transports were a rarity throughout the sectors; the only other family in the entire neighborhood to own one had Administration Council ties.

Turning to go back to her seat, Naya caught sight of two figures approaching their home, the only people out in the rain on the street.

  It was them.

  Naya's mouth went dry.

She took a deep breath like her mother suggested.

  It didn't help.

Her future husband-mate and his sire came every day now, hoping the alphas’ proximity would trigger Naya's heat.

The impulse to run and hide in her room crept up the back of her neck in a hot wave, speeding her heart. Naya took another deep breath, repressing the urge. She liked Crispin. This was her best choice.

  He was her best choice.

He was kind and sweet. She liked his smile, his voice, his smell. He was an agreeable future husband-mate in every way that mattered.

Since she’d been officially declared an omega breeder after her first maturation cycle, Naya’s choice must be final. She couldn't put it off. Her second estrus—the heat that would change her life forever—hung over her head like a weighted ax.

It was time to stop being a baby about it; every girl with her biology suffered through this. It was normal. Common. Nothing to fuss about. Mother wouldn't like it at all if she knew the final transition still unsettled Naya. Her personal turmoil wouldn't change anything, anyway.

She would marry. That was that.

She had some anxiety. An understandable nervousness to growing up and claiming a new role as mistress of her own home.

Adulthood was inevitable. Some girls rushed into the future in a hurry to grab a hold of all the perceived benefits. Some wanted to stay children for as long as possible, enjoying the simplicity of the days before their maturation.

  If only Naya could.

She'd attended all her health visits with a conscientious sense of duty. The doctor declared Naya's cardiovascular and respiratory systems in perfect working order. Her reproductive organs were beautiful, he’d said, but she might want to tell her alpha that her cervix had a bit of a slant.

Nodding cluelessly in response, she’d later looked up “slanted cervix” at home an
d had been mortified and stunned. She couldn’t believe her lifelong doctor would have the audacity to think she would say something about her vagina to Crispin. She could barely talk to him about her choice of nest bedding.

She took all her vitamins—stamped with cute little blue HealthyBs—made for omega breeders like her every day. And Mother made sure she followed all the directions. All that diligent self-care had prompted the doctor to declare that Naya’s mating heat shouldn't be painful.

Mother had grumbled at that, saying, "Don't spin fairy tales you know nothing about, sir."

After her visit, the doctor had made sure Naya received a list of signs she should watch for when it came to her next heat. It wouldn't do for her to be caught unprepared. Included was an addendum of expectations. The paper read like a summary of everything Naya learned in her science and health class. Mother had huffed, complaining that in her day, they were just told to watch for hard cramping and an embarrassing amount of slick.

Then her mother had handed Naya a stack of padded underwear. The extra thick lining in the crotch reminded Naya of a diaper. Mother had said that while men loved to see a girl leaving a trail of slime wherever the sweet young thing went, she didn’t want that mess all over her floors and furniture.

Biology had dictated the entire course of her life. Naya would grow up, choose a mate, satisfy their physical demands, get pregnant, and bring little baby alphas and omegas into the world. She would strengthen the 12 Sectors and contribute to society.

  Live happily ever after.

It wasn't like Naya secretly harbored other ambitions. She liked the idea of her own home, of becoming a mother, of taking a mate who adored her. But the pressure to fulfill her role felt like a vise around her heart, one which grew tighter each day.

Her mother and sister had both done it and survived, and happily—more or less.

The weight of her mother's regard made her start. She'd lost herself in the litany of worry again. Mother was a breath away from calling out her dithering.

Gathering the yarn, Naya hurried back to her seat. Mother insisted appearances and self-control were everything.

Crispin would help Naya establish their own home, her own little territory where she could choose her furnishings and cook their meals how she wanted them. There was no reason to run and hide from him. Rather, she should run to the door and embrace her intended husband-mate with enthusiasm.

Only her mother’s presence kept Naya from overcompensating for her lack of enthusiasm. Outbursts were not lady-like.

"That dress is a bit tight across the bodice, dear one," Mother said. In her lap, the older woman punched her needle through the fabric stretched tight on her embroidery hoop.

Naya frowned down at her impossible cleavage, smoothing the gaping fabric. Her first estrus had reshaped her body drastically and it still felt like a foreign, unfamiliar thing. She'd already cut the threads and loosened the bodice of this dress once, adding a new edging of pale sage-colored silk for modesty.

A year ago, she'd boasted nothing but bee stings for breasts. Now she had a shape that drew everyone's attention.

Not only could men see the obvious changes, but they could smell them. She washed twice daily and doused herself in a concoction said to dampen omega pheromones, but nothing helped.

As a child, even at seventeen years of age, she'd been invisible to civilized males. She could wear what she wanted, go with her older sister where she wanted, and pass through crowds without worrying about the attention of aggressive, unmated males. Having big breasts and a big butt changed everything.

Naya regretted not enjoying those childhood freedoms more. Even before the change, her mother had thought girls should stay in the home and not roam about as they pleased. Naya had spent her time in the kitchen learning to cook, working on patterns for her knitting, and reading love stories in her favorite chair. She’d stayed home like a proper daughter instead of seeing anything of the 12 Sectors she wished to explore.

Now because of her pheromones, she'd be homebound until her first pregnancy changed her scent and broadcasted her status as a bride-mate.

The door knocker rapped, but Naya stayed in her seat. It wasn't her place to get the door; that duty belonged to the household servants. She'd wait for the servant to escort the men to the parlor as was proper, even though there was only a short wall between this room and the entryway.

Crispin and his father soon rounded the corner, their alpha presence filling up the feminine space. Though they were men of affluence, they were both dressed semi-casually in long, loose pants perfectly hemmed above their boots and rain-dampened dark wool coats. Their dress and stature broadcasted their alpha nature and status to everyone who crossed their path.

Naya had always thought Crispin’s long, lean body looked fine in his clothes. He smiled when he saw her, his face congenial and open. For an alpha, his demeanor was far from intimidating—he was pleasant to look upon, even though he was a foot taller than herself.

The man next to him was only a half-inch taller than his son. He had the same color hair clipped tidily at his neck, and the same nose. His brow was heavier than Crispin's, his cheeks fuller, and the lines between his eyebrows and bracketing his mouth ran deeper than the younger man’s.

Naya waited for the men to speak first.

  "Naya. Mistress," Crispin greeted them.

His presence reminded her how much she liked him. Crispin was calm and good. Everything would work out. Nature would take its course. All would be fine.

Naya watched her mother from the corner of her eye and stood in tandem with her.

“Crispin, Corre, welcome to our home,” Mother said. “I'm sure you know that my alpha is at his tasks. But you are welcome here, of course. Would you like to sit?”

With a practiced, genteel elegance, Naya's mother gestured toward a nearby couch, glancing at a servant waiting behind the two visitors. With just that look, she commanded them to take the gentlemen's coats and sent them off for food and drink.

After the men made themselves comfortable, she and her mother followed suit. Mother took up her needlepoint, but Naya stayed still, hands knotted in her lap.

Crispin had chosen the seat next to her. She could smell his warm, outdoorsy scent—like sunshine on the grass. She found the smell very pleasant. He was pleasant.

Naya had met Crispin when she was just sixteen while he was on leave from his Administration Army duties. All alphas, with their aggressive tendencies and well-documented issues with self-control, had to serve thirty years in the military. Given their lifespan was double that of beta breeds or drone humans, the requirement for alphas to practice managing instinctive impulses while in service protecting the 12 Sectors benefited society as a whole and cost them little besides their time.

Crispin was much older than Naya, but most of his peers still considered him young and immature, and incredibly lucky to have snagged the attention of an omega breeder from Sector Five.

After revealing her willingness to consider him as her mate, Crispin told her it was the first time his father had ever admitted being proud of him.

Looking up from her hands, Naya only half-listened to her mother's conversation with Corre. Mother shared news of who’d accepted invitations to the final bonding ceremony. The impressive list of acquaintances, business associates, friends, and family had grown so long they would have to use the grand hall in her father's Scribe House to accommodate them all.

Instead of watching Naya's mother as she spoke, Crispin's father watched her. His eyes traveled over her, lifting from the neckline of her wrap dress to her mouth, then her eyes in a way that made her look at Crispin to see if he saw.

He did not, attentive instead to the human drones entering the room with food.

Naya didn't know if Alpha Corre found her wanting or if the tightening of his brow when he observed her meant something else. He was her father's Second at the sector Scribe House. While he’d met with Father in their home for business ma
ny times before, she rarely encountered him. He conferenced on the second floor of the house in the rooms her father had claimed for his own. None of the family spent time on that floor. It was an alpha-only domain.

She had dipped her head to him in acknowledgment in the hallways and at community dinners her mother required her to attend, but they hadn't interacted otherwise.

After they’d mated and married, Crispin would move Naya into their own home while he took a job at the Scribe House in Sector 8. Once they were away from both their fathers, he would work his way up to becoming a Master. At home, Naya would set up their home and establish her position in their new neighborhood. They would have their own lives.

"That would be wonderful, don't you think, dear one?" Mother asked, catching Naya's attention.

She glanced back and forth between her mother and Crispin, who was lifting a berry pastry to his mouth.

Making a rough sound at the back of her throat that showed her displeasure at Naya's drifting, her Mother repeated, "That would be wonderful if Alpha Corre and Crispin stay here at the house while you get ready for the mating. That way Crispin will be available at all times, and Corre can be here to assist us in preparing for the marriage ceremony after. Don't you think, my dear?"

Naya hoped she hadn't blanched at the idea. She hoped no one could tell what she was feeling.

"You smell near your time, sweet child," Corre said. It was not a fatherly comment, although his casual posture made it seem as if he’d meant it as one. No one should have been commenting on her smell in her mother's sitting room. "Isn't her perfume divine, Crispin?"

Crispin nodded. "As I have told you, Naya, you grow more irresistible every day. I shouldn't want to be across town in a different sector when your body decides it is ready for me."

Naya kept her eyes lowered. Her cycle would make her want Crispin. His touch. His body. On hers and in hers. The doctor’s notes and her own schooling had explained it all in clear black and white lines that looked terribly intimate, messy, and vulgar.
