One month later: Jimmy’s girlfriend Phyllis is now living with him in Port de Soller, Mallorca after her rescue in “The Girlfriend I Almost Lost.”

Ring..Ring, Ring..Ring, Goes the telephone in Mallorca.

  “Good afternoon, the West residence.”

  “Hi Phyllis!”

  This is Frank in England.”

  “Hi Frank.”

Phyllis, I have some sad news for Jimmy, his Army Lt. Colonel has died from his wounds in the States.

“Ok Frank, I am glad you told me.”

  “Jimmy, it's Frank.”

  “Hi Frank.”

“Hi Jimmy, I am sorry, but I have some bad news.”

You’re Lt. Colonel, Army friend died of his wounds.”

  “Thanks Frank.”

“Are you going to the funeral?”

“Yes, that’s one I would like to go to, because I knew him for a long time.” “Phyllis and I were going back this week anyway to see her family.”

“Ok,” replies Frank, “be advised that Madam President wants to meet you. I just got home from a plane trip to DC and I got my butt chewed pretty good by Madam President, for the second time in as many days for not setting up a meeting with you and her.”

“She is going to be at the funeral.”

  “Ok Frank.”

“Phyllis and I will most likely leave tomorrow for the States.”

“So, she ripped your butt pretty good.”

  “Yes!”

“I finally just gave in and told her that I thought you would be there at the funeral. I told her to look for a lone stranger standing in the distance and he may have a blonde woman with him who answers to the name of Phyllis.”

  “Thank you Frank.”

“But, yes, I would be very happy to meet her again.”

Phyllis and I flew back to the States the next day and drove down to Washington, DC for the funeral two days later.

It was a sunny day and the sky was crystal blue, clear as we all stood around while his remains were carried to the cemetery for burial by the military honor guard.

At the funeral of the late Lt Colonel, Madam President is standing with the family as he is laid to rest. But, out of the corner of her eye, she sees a man standing silently at a distance and figures out from his eyes and build that it’s Jimmy. She remembers the eyes, because his face was covered with his ninja mask.

As the funeral finishes, Madam President walks over towards Jimmy and Phyllis starts getting excited when she sees the lady President coming over their way.

Madam President walks up to Jimmy and says, “did you know the late Lt. Colonel?”

Jimmy responds, “yes Madam President in a round about way, we were good Army friends from years long ago.

“I am Jimmy West as he shakes hands with her.”

“I heard a story recently about a Jimmy West, who works for Air Rescue and rescued a president in a gun battle several weeks ago,” as Madam President looked straight at Jimmy.

“I wouldn’t know, Madam President, I am just a simple businessman, he said with a smile on his face.”

“Yes, of course, Mr.West,” replies Madam President.

Madam President turns to Phyllis, “Jimmy you haven’t introduced me to Phyllis.”

“Madam President, this is Phyllis Chaseman.”

  “Phyllis this is Madam President.”

‘It’s a pleasure meeting you, Madam President” as Phyllis shakes hands with her.

“I understand that you have had a similar rescue experience with Jimmy,” replies the President.

“Yes, Madam President, but you didn’t ask him to marry you.”

“True,” replies Madam President as she laughs and turns away and starts to walk away.

She looks back and said, “How’s the villa in Port de Soller Mr. West?”

“It’s beautiful place Madam President, you will have to come to Mallorca to visit us sometime and see the villa,” replies Jimmy

“I would like that,” replies Madam President.

She turns away and then looked back again.

Madam President finally just walks up to him, looks him in the eyes and puts her arms around him and gives him a hug, then she kisses him on the cheek.

She steps back with one hand on his shoulder and looking at Jimmy, “Thank you Jimmy, Thank you for saving me“, says Madam President.

“I know the Lt Colonel was very happy with the way you turned out. He told me just before he died, that he was very proud when you showed up to rescue me.”

“Thank you for telling me that Madam President.”

“How did you know it was me, Madam President?”

  “Your eyes, Jimmy, your eyes.”

“That’s all I could see of you with your mask on that day, so I remembered your eyes.”

She gives him what seemed to be a long hug and they both smiled at each other and Madam President walks a few yards away.

“Oh, by the way Mr. West,” she explains as she turns back around to Jimmy. “The captain told me that he set you up and pushed you into hitting him.”

“That’s very interesting to know,” replies Jimmy.

“Per my orders Mr. West, you are now honorably discharged from the Army.”

“You are now a retired 20 year man and will receive your pension.”

“I will have the paperwork sent by FedEx to your Mallorca villa.”

“Thank you, Madam President” as Jimmy has a hard time controlling his excitement.

  “No Jimmy, thank you.”

With that Madam President turned around and walked away.

“Boy, she likes you Jimmy,” remarked Phyllis.

“What did you do for her?” asks Phyllis.

  “I rescued her in Cairo.”

“That’s what I thought I heard Madam President say.”

“The TV, says it was U.S. Army Special Forces who rescued her in a blazing gun battle,” replies Phyllis.

“Yes, I know, don’t believe everything you see on TV.”

  “I guess not,” replies Phyllis.

  “Shit me.”
