"You really don't believe any of that stuff, do you?" he asked and put the glass in the sink.
"Not in the least," she shook her head. "I mean… werewolves turn into scary monsters on the full moon… You go to chess club."
Jason choked on a laugh. "When you put it that way it makes me sound like a pansy."
Raven grinned sheepishly. "You're right."
The green-eyed boy's mouth fell open and Raven quickly tried to run, but arms wrapped around her waist from behind and lifted her up into the air so she couldn't escape. She squealed and tried to wriggle free but Jason had a very strong hold. She was carried back and before she knew it, she was sitting on the kitchen bench with Jason facing her.
"What was that?" he asked in a mocking tone.
"You're the one that said it," she scoffed. "Don't blame me for agreeing with you."
Jason rested his hands on the bench and leaned in until his face was inches from hers. "But agreeing isn't going to get you free now."
"So, I'm your prisoner?"
"Pretty much."
"We'll see about that," Raven smiled and attacked his ribs. She heard him let out a soft sigh, but he didn't seem to falter under her trick again.
"Not this time," he whispered and Raven saw his grin right before his lips pressed softly against hers. Her heart seemed as though it had just burst into life as it raced. She felt like she was going to melt as warmth spread into her body and sent tingles of pleasure across her skin. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach and every inch of her self control left her. She reached up and grabbed his shirt, pulling him closer and fiercely kissing him in return, wrapping her legs around his waist so he couldn't pull away.
He seemed pleased with her response and he lifted her off the kitchen bench. Raven forgot all about her split lip, feeling no pain as the warmth of Jason's lip soothed it. The boy pushed his bedroom door open with his foot and walked into the room, carrying Raven. He put her on her feet in front of him and they broke away as he pulled his shirt over his head, quickly reaching for hers. She gave in at once and he slowly pulled her shirt off, tossing it to the side. Before she could say anything, he had already unbuttoned her shorts and let them fall to the floor.
They kicked off their shoes and socks and Jason lowered Raven down onto his mattress. She smiled and he moved on top of her, kissing her gently. He whole body tingled as Jason kissed her neck, moving down to her shoulder and back up until their lips connected once more.
Then he reached for her bra.
*.*.*
Raven grumbled as she stared down at her half-completed Math test and she chewed on her pencil, glaring at the next impossible question.
"Ten minutes until your time is up," Mr. McDowell announced. "If you haven't finished by then you'll be sure to fail."
Thanks for the motivation, Raven thought angrily and glanced across the room where Jason was sitting, writing down a bunch of answers. He wasn't wrong when he had said he'd ace it. She couldn't keep the smirk off her face however, when she thought about their activities the day before. He seemed to notice her staring and he glanced up, catching her eye. He grinned at her and winked before turning back to his test. Raven sighed and did the same, her thoughts trailing to the night before when she had returned to her dorm.
Raven had gone back to her dorm just before dinner to clean herself up and Elaise had been there. She had taken one look at the blonde and instantly known what had happened. She had flown into a rage and glared at Raven.
"You had sex with Jason?!" she had exclaimed.
"Yes," Raven had nodded. "What's wrong with it? And don't say it's because he's a werewolf, because he's not!"
"He is!" Elaise had looked disgusted. "He's tricking you by staying in his human form. Werewolves are all over the school and no one has noticed!"
"If there were werewolves in the school, hypothetically speaking," Raven had rolled her eyes, "then the headmaster would know about it."
"Maybe he's a werewolf too…"
"Why are you throwing accusations around?" Raven had snapped at Elaise, feeling her lip pulse with numb pain. "Is it because I'm with Jason and every other guy wants my attention? Because you think you're too good for Der? The poor guy is crazy for you, Elaise, it's so easy to see that. What did he do to make you think he was a werewolf?"
"My silver chain burned him!" Elaise had tried to convince Raven again as the blonde went into her room and brushed her hair in front of the mirror, getting rid of all the knots. "It fell, he caught it and I saw the smoke. Raven, you have to believe me."
"After all the rumors? Why should I?" Raven had turned around to face her. "Only you know about my dad. If you say it wasn't you then who else could have started those rumors?"
"I didn't tell anyone," Elaise had looked solemn. "I swear that I didn't."
Raven had snorted and the brunette had looked hurt. "There is no such thing as werewolves and no matter how much you try to convince me otherwise, I will never believe you."
The blonde shook her head and turned back to her test, writing down an estimated answer on the paper, moving on to the final question, reading over it and feeling her brain turn to mush.
"Three minutes," Mr. McDowell spoke up and Raven bit her lip, quickly regretting it.
"I wonder if Raven knows that her friend is spreading more rumors about her," she scowled when she heard Brittany whisper from the desk behind her. "It must be hard fighting with a friend that has so much dirt on her that could make her life miserable." Raven glanced up and saw Jason staring at her, watching her. The blonde tightened her hand over her pencil and scribbled one last answer on her test before rising in her seat and throwing her bag over her shoulder. She stalked over to the teacher's desk, slammed her test down and left the class before he could stop her.
She took a few deep breaths but couldn't keep her temper down. She spun and punched the closest wall, feeling electric shocks of pain shooting up her arms. She yelped but grit her teeth and continued down the hallway in anger. She couldn't believe that Elaise was still saying things about her! And she tried to call herself a friend!
She made her way outside and found the spot where she had first hidden after she had punched Brittany in the face. She sat down on the grass, putting her bag beside her. She leaned her head back against the wall and took deep breaths, trying to forget it and let it go. Everything was so messed up. How did two best friends who wanted to come to the school for Raven's safety turn into such bitter enemies? What did White Grass have that could break up their friendship that nothing else in ten years had been able to do?
Then there were Elaise's superstitions. She was almost positive that werewolves were in the school; Der and Jason among them. What had convinced the brunette that such things existed? Werewolves changed on the full moon night, and a bunch of kids including Der and Jason, went to a place in the forest for chess club. What could have compelled Elaise to think they were supernatural creatures?
She pulled her knees up and hugged them, sighing deeply. Why did everything have to turn into such a mess? She had to admit, although she had Jason and a few other friends, she missed Elaise. They had been like sisters and White Grass had broken them up, separating them as if they were the same kind of magnet that refused to connect to the other. How could one school do that so easily?
"What are you doing on your own?" her head snapped up and she felt the gripping hands of fear clutch at her heart when she saw Kyle leaning against the wall a few feet away with a smirk on his face. She quickly glanced around but realized she was alone.
"I was just leaving," she said and got to her feet, grabbing her bag. She only managed to hang it over one shoulder as Kyle appeared in front of her and seized her arms.
"What's the rush?" he asked but she saw his nose twitch. "Wow, Jason has a horrid stench!"
Raven frowned and tried to pull away but she wasn't strong enough. "I have to get back to class."
"No, you don't," Kyle smiled. "Hang out with me for a bit.
I'm sure you'll find that I'm much more fun than Jason."
She had no choice as she was almost lifted from her feet and herded away from the school, quickly crossing the oval and heading towards the forest. She felt the grip on her heart tighten and she could almost hear Jason's voice telling her not to go near the forest without him. She didn't want to go in there! She tried to wriggle free but it was useless.
"Please, no," she begged. "Don't. I don't want to."
"I won't hurt you," he chuckled. "The penetration might hurt, but from then on it'll be smooth sailing."
She should have guessed those were his intentions and she didn't stop the whimper in time. As he pulled her across the border of the trees, she knew there was no hope of stopping Kyle. Her mind worked too slowly to come up with plans to escape and she parted her lips to scream for help. She didn't get the chance as Kyle slapped a hand across her mouth.
"Sorry, honey, but I can't let you call attention to us," he almost whispered in a seductive tone and Raven looked back the way they had come; the school wasn't even visible through the trees anymore and she wondered how far they had come already.
She was tossed to the ground and she yelped as she hit the forest floor hard, her bag falling from her shoulder and rolling out of the way. She looked up at Kyle and forgot to breathe when she saw his grin. She tried to shuffle backwards but the boy's foot pressed down on hers and held her in place.
"Kyle, please don't do this," she pleaded.
"You have no idea how agonizing the wait for this has been," he said as he dropped down and moved on top of her. "I always get what I want. And right now, I want you, stripped of your clothes with me inside of you."
Raven squinted her eyes shut as Kyle bent down and kissed her neck. It was so uncomfortable and she struggled to breathe as he brushed kisses down her neck and even further. Raven groped for anything sharp with her hand and it closed over a rock. She swung it up as hard as she could and hit Kyle in the side of the head. He flinched and jumped back, holding his head. Raven dropped the rock and rolled over, getting to her feet and attempting to run. Her escape plan failed and she was shoved face first into the nearest tree. Pain erupted in her body and she was pinned to the tree. She felt Kyle's breath on her ear as he stood behind her, holding her in place. She felt tears stinging the rims of her eyes and she closed them as he spoke.
"I don't think so," he whispered in her ear. "I'm going to get what I want and you're going to have to accept that, whether you like it or not."
"I hope you know this is rape," she gulped and a tear rolled down her cheek. "When I tell Jason he'll-" her head was pushed forward and she whimpered when Kyle growled loudly.
"Jason won't know," the boy said sternly. "You won't tell him, or anybody else."
She heard the bell for recess in the distance and already, she knew, Jason would be looking around for her. If he knew she was in the forest with Kyle… What would he do?
"Are you going to cooperate?" Kyle asked quietly.
"No," she shook her head but fell silent as she heard him growl again.
"Good," he almost laughed. "Let's get some of this excess baggage off."
Raven was pulled away from the tree and her jacket was torn from her arms and tossed aside. She was quickly spun around to face the boy and was helpless as her shirt was ripped from her, falling to the ground in shredded pieces, leaving her in nothing but her bra and her shorts.
More tears rolled down her cheeks as she was pressed back against the tree and Kyle kissed her fiercely. She tried to push him away as he kissed down her neck again, wandering further than she was comfortable with. She tried to focus on breathing and she prepared herself, bunching her muscles and pulling her leg up, kneeing him in the groin. His lips left her skin, letting out a loud puppy-like yelp. He recovered too quickly and grabbed Raven by the throat, throwing her roughly to the ground again. She winced as her back hit a tree root and she rolled onto her back, seeing Kyle step towards her again with fury written all over his face.
"Looks like I need to cripple you before I can get what I want," he threatened with closed fists and took one more step, but stopped.
The both of them looked up as a loud growl sounded from the cover of the trees and shivers ran down Raven's spine when it appeared in the open, stepping out of the shadows as confidently as the bravest animal on earth, fearing nothing. Kyle growled at the creature with large, hunched shoulders, hand-like paws and a pair of terrifying jaws. Its golden eyes seemed to glare at Kyle as it crept forward on four legs, its matted fur standing on end as its ears lay flat against its head, snarling at the boy. Kyle squared his shoulders and Raven almost felt thankful that the creature had appeared. More fear overlapped her recent one when she remembered what this monster did to girls.
The creature snarled at Kyle again and took another step forward, turning its gaze to Raven. The blonde held her breath and felt her entire body shaking with fear, wondering what was going to happen next. Should she try and run while the creature tore Kyle apart? Would she make it back to the school in time before it finally caught up with her?
Her answer came as Kyle was suddenly tackled off his feet, being thrown head-first into the tree behind him. Jason army-rolled on the ground and landed in a crouch close to the giant creature, who quickly backed up and growled at the boy. Raven glanced up as Jake entered the clearing and stood protectively in front of Raven when Kyle found his feet again.
She turned her attention to Jason and the animal, seeing the beast backing away as the green-eyed boy remained low to the ground, his muscles tensed up as if he was going to tackle the creature like he had done to Kyle. In moments, the giant beast turned-tail and ran off into the trees, leaving no traces of itself in the small clearing.
Then Jason turned to Kyle, his face falling when he saw the boy holding his head. Already it was too late to stop Raven from seeing the wound.
And the blood.
Raven sat up and shuffled back quickly, hyperventilating as she watched Kyle rubbing the blood away, staining his hands with it. It dripped down the side of his face and Jason forgot all about him, running to Raven's aid as she tried to hide her face, unable to stop herself from trembling.
"Raven? Are you okay?" he asked.
She couldn't breathe. She couldn't think. She saw blood all around her, grabbing at her arms and legs and pulling her down into its depths, smothering her and choking her. She shook her head roughly and heard Jake snarling at Kyle to leave. She heard a rush of footsteps and Jake sighed.
"It's okay now," Jason whispered to Raven. "The blood is gone. It's okay."
Her heart raced and she slowly looked up, glancing around. She saw no blood and no sign of Kyle. She looked over at Jason and her tears cascaded down her cheeks. "Jason…"
"It's okay," he cupped her face in his hands. "Look at me. It's okay." She nodded as best she could and Jason helped her to her feet. She crossed her arms over her chest to try and shield her body and Jake kept his eyes low. "What happened?" Jason asked.
"I… he…" she tried to sum up an explanation but her body wouldn't stop shaking. "He dragged me out here… I couldn't-"
"I told you not to come near the forest without me," Jason almost growled. "Kyle wouldn't have been able to drag you out here if you weren't near it."
"So now it's my fault?!" Raven stepped away from Jason and he realized what he had said. "I didn't ask for Kyle to try and rape me!" she bit back the sobs that threatened her and she felt like her knees were going to buckle and send her crumbling to the ground again.
"I never said that you did!" Jason growled and Jake shook his head. "But you know what he's like and you know what's in this forest! If you had the sense to stay in class then you wouldn't have nearly been raped and you wouldn't have nearly been taken for lunch!"
Raven was going to shoot a snappy reply at him but he held his face in his hands and ran his fingers through his hair, growling to himself. He paced back and forth before turning on a tree and punching it
. The tree sounded like it shuddered from the force and the green-eyed boy snarled at is as if it was taunting him.
"Jason, go for a walk," Jake sighed. "I'll get Raven back to school."
He didn't seem to hear the boy and Raven chewed her sore lip as Jason punched the tree again and again. He really did have temper problems, she thought grimly. But he was going to hurt himself doing that!
"Jason!" she tried but regretted it.
He whirled around to face her. "What?!" his emerald eyes beamed with something he had never dropped on the blonde girl and she shied away.
Jake stepped between them and Raven looked at the ground. "Don't take it out on her!" the boy snapped at Jason. "Go for a walk!"
Jason glared at him for a few seconds and Raven watched sadly as he stalked off into the trees, muttering to himself with many colorful words. Raven glanced up at Jake as he pulled his shirt off and handed it to her. She couldn't help but notice his muscular body that many boys would have died to have. It wasn't as good as Jason's body, but it was impressive.
