Devious: A Dark Mafia Arranged Romance (A Villain Collection Book 1) Page 10

by J. M Stoneback

  Roselyn

I HAVEN’T BEEN THIS SAD since my mother passed away. I glance up at Devious and he sobs uncontrollably, and I grab his hand squeezing tight, using the other hand to wipe his tears. I don’t know why I care about him being hurt, but his tears make me want to cry. Standing up on my tippy toes, I kiss his lips.

Then I turn back to both of the caskets, watching as they are lowered to the ground. Papa is the first person to set a flower on the casket. His face has faded bruises around his nose and cheeks. Our eyes meet and he shakes his head, heading to his car. I want to ask him what happened, but when he looks at Devious, I have my answer. Devious watches him with annoyance.

“You beat him, did you? For slapping me across the face.”

He doesn’t respond until it’s our time to place our rose on the casket.

“I did. He knows now not to verbally or physically abuse you anymore.” He removes a few strands of my hair from my face.

A few other underbosses offer Devious their condolences.

Aiden strides to him, whispers something in his ear and Devious nods. Aiden waves at me then I wave back, then Devious ushers me to the car. King is already in the driver’s seat. “Thank you, Roselyn. I couldn’t do this without you,” Devious murmurs.

  I nod. “You’re welcome.”

My feet hurt from wearing these ridiculous heels and I groan as I remove them, tossing them onto the black carpet. I stroke the back of my heels. Devious takes my feet and massages my heel.

  “Is this better?”

“Oh, God. It is. Honestly, I don’t understand how women wear this shit or why men find them appealing.”

“It makes your legs appear longer.”

  “You like long legs?”

“I like everything about you from your hair all the way to your toes. Even the way you smack your food.”

  “I don’t smack.” I pout.

  “You chew louder than horse.”

I roll my eyes. “Whatever. Well you have stinking feet. There I said it.”

  Devious bursts out laughing.

We drive in silence and he continues stroking the heels of my feet. His touch wants me to want him to touch me everywhere. We haven’t had sex for a week and I’m not going to lie, I kinda miss his dick inside of me. The thickness and hardness of it. I still remember it throbbing inside of me as my pussy pulse around it. Shifting uncomfortably, he rubs my thigh.

“From now on, you sleep in the bed with me,” he states.

  “Really?” I say with excitement.

  “Yeah, you earned it.”

Guilt rages in my chest at his words. Slowly, I’m earning his trust and all I want to do is leave him. Maybe this is his game to make me feel guilty for wanting to escape him. Since he got hurt, he has treated me a lot better. Marla said if I act right, he’ll treat me right. I’ve never been so confused in my life.

I want to bring up Shelby, but it’s not my place and he already told me the subject is off limits.

But, still. I want to know what happened to her. Does he still love her? I want to know more about the man I gave my virtue to. I’m quite jealous of a dead girl who got the sweet side of Devious and I got the mean side of him. I guess that’s what I get for trying to kill him.

  “You’re hungry?” he asks.

  “Yes.”

  He glares at me.

  “Yes, sir.”

“Take us to Ocean Blue on 59th street,” Devious tells King.

  “Yes sir,” King responds.

We are quiet on the way to the restaurant. I’ve never been on a date.

  “Wait. Is this a date?”

“Yeah,” he answers, and I didn’t realize I blurt out what I was thinking.

We arrive at an expensive restaurant and once we walk in, the hostess recognized Devious and shows us to our booth. The restaurant is romantic with lit candles. Devious hands me the menu and it’s written in fancy script. I’ve never been to a elegant restaurant. I set the menu down and Devious is still staring at the menu and I watch as people fill the dance floor. The setting is for people who are in love. Something we will never be.

The waitress bats her eyes at Devious, offering her white smile.

“What would you like to eat?”

He tells her what we both want, and she leaves. We’re quiet as Devious unfolds a napkin, placing it on my lap.

“I’ve never been to a fancy restaurant like this.” I say, fiddling with the black tablecloth

“None of your exes took you out?”

I shake my head. “I’ve never hung out with them. They didn’t have much interest in me because I was going to be their trophy wife and bear their children. Papa wanted me to mold into something I wasn’t.”

  “Oh, yeah. who?”

  “Someone’s wife.”

“What would you be doing if you weren’t married to me?”

“Being a street Artist. It doesn’t pay a lot, but I don’t care. I’m not doing it for the money.”

“What did you do in Atlanta when you ran away for six months?”

I lean back in the chair and roll my eyes. Papa told him every little thing I did. “I lived in an apartment with a group of other girls and we partied. I didn’t want to marry Umberto. Papa wanted me to. He was a sweet guy and always bought me roses.”

He smirks. “Umberto is not a nice guy, Roselyn.”

  “Were you close to him?”

“I know all my underbosses personally and Umberto is mean, he wraps it up in a facade.”

  “You’re bold with your meanness.”

He nods. “Why pretend? People are going to eventually figure out who you are.”

The waitress brings us our meal.

“Tell me more about Shelby?” I ask.

  “She’s dead, ancient history.”

He grabs my crab legs showing me how to break the shell, then he feeds me a piece of meat. The meat tastes juicy and sweet, and so good. We talk about our dislikes and likes. Apparently, Radiohead and System of the Down is his favorite rock group, and rap music is my favorite genre, and Kendrick Lamar and Drake are my favorite rappers. We both agree horror and psychological thriller is the best genre whether it’s books or movies. I eye the dance floor, wanting to move my hips to the music. It’s a love song from the nineties.

“Let’s dance,” Devious asks, standing up from the table, holding out his hand.

  “Oh no, I can’t. I don’t know how.”

“I’ll teach you.” Then he yanks me out of the chair.

He pulls me close, resting both hands on my lower back and my cheeks burning with anticipation. My pulse accelerates as his dick digs into my stomach. He rests his chin on the top of my head and I accidentally step on his feet.

“Sorry,” I say and he doesn’t respond, and his body sways back and forth. This feels nice, being held by him. I feel his lips brushing against my forehead and our bodies mold together like clay.

It feels nice to do something normal despite leaving a funeral. My emotions are all over the place and one minute, I want to beat the living shit out of Devious and the next I want him to hold me like he’s doing now. I still have to keep my guard up and not fall for my enemy because if he burns me alive, who’s going to be there for me, to pick up the pieces of my broken heart?

  Roselyn

HE MADE IT CLEAR THAT he doesn’t trust me at the manor all by myself and I might try to escape, and he wasn’t lying because it’s exactly what I would try to do. The last few weeks, I’ve been confused with my body and my mind. I’m starting to see things in Devious and I don’t like it. I used to picture him as the big bad wolf who’s trying to blow my house down or the monster who lives under my bed, but he’s not. Shaking my head, I need to stick to my plan and earn his trust.

We’re on our way to Santorini, Greece. I sit across from him, leaning against the beige leather seat. Taking in the lounge area, everything reeks of money. Devious unbuttons his top button of his black dress shirt, exposing his firm chest.

“What happened to your mother?” Devious asks, tapping his chip nail on the wooden armrest.

Exhaling, her death is a subject, I normally don’t speak about to anyone, but if it would get him to trust me then I guess I can tell him.

“She died. Overdose on her sleeping medication.” I shake my head, trying to wipe my mind clean from the memory.

I still remember the day; I came from sneaking out of the house to go to a party.

“Papa rarely let me go to house parties. He didn’t want any boy taking my virginity because he wanted to make sure my hymen was intact when I marry whatever man he gives me to. When I came home from a party, I was drunk as fuck and I crept into her room to sleep in the bed with her. When I opened the door to her bathroom, I found her face down in the water. I called the cops and they tried to revive her. Papa didn’t care she died, the fact I got the cops involved pissed him off. I didn’t know what to do. I panicked and I couldn’t leave her in the tub, anyhow, they tried to save her and said she had too much medication in her stomach and she didn’t drown.”

A single tear slides down my cheek and Devious wipes the tear with his index finger but doesn’t say a word. The tension between us is so thick, I can cut it with a knife.

“She did it on purpose. I found a suicide letter about how she didn’t want to be abused anymore and she has no purpose of living and she wished I wasn’t a product of rape.”

Devious rests his hand over mine, drawing invisible lines on it.

The flight attendant announces we’re taking off and I buckle my seatbelt. I’ve been on a plane a few times to visit my aunt in Sicily, I’ve never been on one as nice as this one. Not as lavish as this. If I decide to abandon my goals and stay with Devious, then I don’t think I’ll be able to get used to living in luxury. Papa has money, but he was frugal with it. When I went through a phase when I wanted to be a ballerina, I begged Papa to take me to a real class so I could interact with other girls my age. I wanted friends because being locked up in the penthouse was so lonely and momma was always out of it when she on her drugs.

“My mother died in a car accident,” Devious says, leaning back on the beige leather seat, resting both elbows on the armrest.

  “I’m sorry for your loss.”

“It’s not a loss. My mother was a bitch abusive.”

“What did she do to you? Did she put those scars on your back?”

Devious eyes are empty and hollow like a shell. His facial expression is blank.

“Draco put those scars on my back, and she watched.” His tone is low.

A small part of me feels bad for him because no one deserves to suffer from abuse. I want to ask him more questions about his past, but I don’t know if he will answer me.

I didn’t expect Devious to open up to me the way he did. Normally, anything about him was off limits.

  “What happened to Draco?”

  “My brother killed him.”

  “Why?”

He swallows hard before answering. “We got tired of his bullshit. His bullying and abuse. He still tried to bully us as adults. He used to take his anger out on us all the time. Aiden slit his throat in pure rage. If word got out Aiden killed him, I would have to charge him for treason.”

“Is it why you have nightmares?”

He pauses for a few moments. “No.”

Tension builds between us so I change the subject. “You guys do awful shit.”

“Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you’re stuck with me, my little Nymph.”

“I’m not a nymphomaniac. You have good dick, but I’m not crazy over it. Stop calling me that.”

“Nymph is not short for nymphomaniac. I call you Nymph because you look like a sea Nymph to me.”

  My cheek blushes. “Oh.”

“You’re so beautiful, angelic, and pure, Roselyn.”

“I’ve never thought of myself as pretty,” I admit my insecurity. “I don’t kno—”

“You’re beautiful the way you look.”

I wish it was easy for me to fix my self-esteem issue, but it’s not.

Once the plane is in midair, Devious unbuckles his seat belt and sits next to me. He places my feet into his lap massage it. His cologne is intoxicating. Moaning, I lie my head on the back of the leather seat.

  “Does it feel good?”

  “Yes.”

His behavior is confusing me. one minute, He’s being cruel like the devil and the next he’s acting like a dutiful husband. He’s giving me whiplash. No matter how sweet Devious is to me, I can’t let my guard down.

  Devious

I keep people at arm’s length, especially women, because I feel too much. People think I’m heartless but it’s far from the truth, I feel too much. I glance over at Roselyn sleeping in the chair next to me. Sometimes, when I look at her, she calms the chaos that brews inside of me. And I hate it too. She wants to be a bird and fly away from me and I want to rip out her wings and keep her close to me. I want more from Roselyn than a business transaction, and it’s dangerous because if I fall in love with her, she would be able to break me.

The flight is long, and I watch Roselyn sleep. I don’t know how she got a hold on me, but I have to keep my distance and watch my back because I still don’t trust her. Even though, she’s been on her best behavior, something in my gut tells me she’s up to something. The flight lands and the sun sets over the clear ocean. One of the many reasons why I love Santorini is the water.

I tap her on the shoulder, and she wakes up, stretching her arms and legs. Her tits are on display in her white sundress and I want to smear my cum on her and make her lick it up.

We will be doing a lot of fucking on this trip, but for now, I want to show her around. She mentioned to me he hasn’t been anywhere besides Atlanta and Sicily.

The door opens as she unbuckles her seat belt and I do the same thing. Her ass sways back and forth as we exit the building. A black car is already waiting to take us to the small town. Max stands by the passenger side. He gives me a hug, patting me on the back.

“Where is your boyfriend?” I ask.

“He’s already at the hotel, getting ready for our date. He can’t thank you enough for the paid trip.”

We get into the SUV, strapping our seat belt. Max goes to grab our luggage and place it in the trunk.

“I had no idea he was gay.” Nymph says, her tone is lace with surprise.

“You think I was going to allow a straight man to guard you all day? That’s exactly why I hired him.”

“You’re so possessive and jealous,” she tells me, shaking her head. She clicks the button on the door, rolling down the window. Closing her eyes, she inhales the sea air and exhales. A few of her fine silk strands stick to her face and her cheeks are flush from the wind. “The air smells sweet,” she says, smiling. Her eyes widen at the white buildings. People ride their bikes and others chat on the streets. We pull up to the hotel and then go to our room. She stares at the spacious living room and kitchen in awe.

“You know how to ride a bike?” I ask.

  “Of course,” she answers.

“I rented bikes to ride through the city.”

“Let’s go old man,” she jokes, grabbing my hand, leading me outside.

We ride through the city, passing people and café shops. I buy her souvenirs and a few paintings and tell the driver to pick up the stuff from the shop. I tell her about Greek mythology, her little ears perk up for more knowledge of the country. We park our bikes in front the cafe and we sit outside, drinking our coffee.

“You always loved books?” she asks, adjusting the flimsy hat I bought her from the gift shop.

“It was my only escape from life. Books are precious treasures on this earth, we need to discover.”

I love the smell of books, especially worn pages.

  “What did you read?”

“Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, anything fantasy.” I sip my coffee, life as a kid was so unkind, I used to wish I
was Harry Potter.

“You were lonely like me,” she states.

I don’t respond. Indeed, I was alone, very alone. I was always in survival mode as a child. Even though I had Aiden, I was also busy protecting him and myself. Sometimes, I was glad Draco was gone so I could sit and read in peace.

Roselyn sips her coffee, getting whip cream on her top lip.

“Come here,” I pat my pants leg and she hurries on to my lap.

I cup her cheek, licking the whip cream from her lip.

“Devious, we’re in public.” Her cheeks turn beet red.

“So? You don’t like public affection?”

She taps her finger on her chin. “I don’t know. Kiss me and I’ll tell you if I like it.”

Before she can blink, I press my lips against hers and she places her hand in my hair. I deepen the kiss, sliding my tongue into her tongue and she sucks on it. I nip her lip as she moans.

“I like it. Have you ever had sex in public?”

I nod. “Get up and follow me.”

Her smile is as wide as the ocean. I walk in front of the men’s restroom and say, “Wait here.”

I rush into the restroom and check each stall, making sure no one is in there, then I head out of the bathroom. I grab Roselyn’s hand, yanking her inside, locking the door. She jumps into my arm, wrapping her legs around my waist, kissing me all over my face.

“I want you,” she whispers. “Does it make me dumb?”

I read between the lines of what she’s saying. Is it wrong for her to want someone as bad as me? “No. You are a lot of things, but dumb isn’t one of them.”

“You’re bad for me and you’re going to break my heart.”

I don’t respond because what she’s saying is all true. I treated her like shit, yet she still wants me. I don’t deserve her. She kisses my lips and I sit her down on the counter.

I hike up her dress, pulling down her pink lace panties.

My dick gets hard as I unzip my pants. Grabbing her thighs, I thrust inside of her and she groans against my forehead.
