runs over to me. “Jody Wody!” She says. I laugh and laugh. “My Mel Mel!” I say. We smile together and run off into the sunshine. Werid.

Reality formed. Mel was standing over me. “Well?” She said. I sighed and grinned. “Well.” I said. “I saw us two run off into the sunshine!” I said. Mel looked like she’d been slapped in the face. “Yeah. Like that would happen!” She laughed. I laughed. “My visions always come true Mel!” I said. We just laughed and laughed.

School past in a blur. When it finished we went to Mel’s and my father and Uncle Vincent was already there. “Ah Jodie, Mel. Are you ready?” My father said. Me and Mel nodded. “When you are.” We said to my father and Uncle. We decided to form patrols so that we sleep while the person on patrol watched. Our schedule ran like this:

  Vincent- Monday and Friday night.

Vlad (My father)- Tuesday and Thursday night.

  Mel- Wednesday night.

  Jodie- Saturday and Sunday night.

I doubted greatly that we would even get to Wednesday night let alone Saturday night. But my Uncle and father insisted that we plan very far ahead. Very far. Me and Mel sat around playing chess while we waited for Jelina to strike that first night. I was much better than Mel but that was not surprising considering Mel was knew to chess because I had just taught her. “Jodie?” Said my father. I looked at him. “Can you see if you can find when Jelina is coming my dear girl?” I nodded and went to search. I had got used to the fading now and went straight into the vision.

I was the girl, Kim, again. This time I was playing some game. “My Kimmi!” Says Jelina. I smile her way and say “Jelly! When are we attacking?” She giggles. “Little miss eager!” She says. “This Tuesday 24th Mel will die!” It fades.

When I awoke Mel’s face, yet again, was pressed to mine. “When?” She asked. I sighed. “Tomorrow.” I said. Mel looked panicked. “Night or day?” She begged to know. I just shrugged. Mel looked petrified. “Jodie. I don’t want to die!” She said. I thought about this and then said “And you will not!” Hugging her. I looked at everyone and said “Right! We have to set everything up now! Right now!” We all set to work instantly. I sat trying to search for more visions on Jelina’s movements. Mel was warning her parents. My father was working out strategy plans and my uncle was phoning his home to warn them of his absence.

At about eleven o’clock we all decided it was time to go to bed. So me and Mel went up to Mel’s room and my father and uncle set up their beds on the sofas. Once in bed me and Mel were talking about what to do the next night. “Mel. You have to hide. Let me and my family deal with Jelina! It’s not safe for you! You know that don’t you?” I said to her. Mel stared right at me. “Fat chance. I want to fight!” She said. I shook my head but then said “Fine Mel. Have it your way. Your my best friend but you need be safe. Please be safe!” I begged her. She nodded. Soon we got very tired and fell asleep.

When we awoke I went straight downstairs and got some blood from my father. Mel was already there drinking hers. “Drink up, my child, you will need it!” He said as he handed it to me. I drank thirstily. When me and Mel had finished, got changed and brushed our teeth (or fangs) we started planning exactly the positions we would be in and who would make the first move to protect Mel. Many hours past and soon it was night fall. “I think it’s time.” I said and we got into our positions.

Exactly ten minutes after that there was a knock at the door (Who knocks if they are going to kill someone?) and my father answered it. It was Jelina. “Hello Mel!” She said and nodded to me. Kim was behind her. Jelina got her knife out. “So Mel. Let’s make this snappy shall we? I have better things to do!” She said. Mel sighed. My father and my uncle got ready to charge. I stood in front of Mel. Mel stared at Jelina “You bitch!” She exclaimed. “Do you really think that I am just going to let you kill me?” Jelina nodded. Then held her knife up. I punched her in the face.

She shrieked loudly. “Jodie! Just let me kill the girl!” She screamed. I shook my head. “I’ll leave you and your family alone! Just let me kill her!” She shouted. I stared her in the eyes. “No. Mel is family.” I said. Jelina stared at Mel full of hatred. “That’s family?” She said. I nodded. “Oh yes!” I said. A van pulled up. A man came out and took Jelina by the arms. Another came and grabbed Kim. They apologised loads. “We are from a mental institute.” One of the men said. “Jelina Marsh and Kim Fair escaped. We are so sorry for the bother they caused you. But we will be going now.” That was that.

After it was all finished me and Mel ran to her room, “Ha-ha!” Mel said as we went up the stairs. “Jelina totally got it!” I said. Mel nodded and nodded. “I KNOW!!!!!” She said. We just grinned for ages.

A few days later Mel was round mine and we were talking about Jelina when I happened to glance out the window. I saw this man in a hood. Then I had a vision.

“Give me your entire money girl!” Says the man I saw. But it fades quicker than winking.

  I just ignored that one.

Months past and soon it was Christmas time. Mel was round mine and we were all really happy. Chatting and laughing. My mother was singing Christmas carols. My father was in a father Christmas hat and Tallulah was playing on the floor and was looking almost a year old. (But she is a vampire.) There are presents under the tree and Annie has a diamond ring on…
