Without protest from her friends the guards ushered Lana away.
“Where are you taking me?”
Lana looked back and locked eyes with Callum, then Beth, then Howard, pleading for help. They did nothing and said nothing. Lana’s face was furrowed with confusion.
Callum glanced at Beth, then dropped his eyes to the floor. He couldn’t bear to watch.
Lana’s eyes landed on hers, and Beth watched the understanding unfold on Lana’s face.
Beth had informed security. Beth was the one who had betrayed her.
She stared straight through Lana. Some small doubt niggled her for what she’d done, but it wasn’t enough to change or regret it.
“Beth, what did you do?” Howard whispered.
“She’s a threat to national security.”
