“It's not all bad news, Jiden,” my grandmother smiled. “We did defeat them. This is a level of embarrassment that Crown Prince Abrasax is going to carry for years. And that's assuming that he recovers from it at all. Drakkus politics being what it is, I'd be surprised if one of his brothers doesn't help him fall out a window or something.”
I snorted at that. “One could only hope.”
“But there's something else, some bit of good news that I wanted to share with you,” she hesitated then. I could tell that she didn't know how to say it.
“What is it?” I asked. “Is it about my cousins? Mel and Rawn?”
She waved a hand, “No... that's a discussion for another day.” She sighed. “Among the communications we found in their network, we found multiple references to a 'prisoner.' A prisoner they captured at Black Mesa Outpost, a prisoner they've been using to try and translate your parent's research notes.”
My jaw dropped as I realized what she meant.
“Your brother is alive, Jiden.”
