“This Henry Malone?” It was a man’s voice.
“It is. Who’s this?”
“Goddamn, Henry, but you are a hard man to chase down. I was starting to think we’d never get to talk.” I didn’t recognize the voice, but his tone was casual and laid back, as if we had been friends our entire lives.
“Uh-huh. Do you want to know if I’m satisfied with my insurance or with my cable service?”
He laughed. “Neither, Henry. No, what I’m calling about is your future.”
“You asking me out to dinner?”
He laughed again. “Henry, how would you like to be the sheriff of Parker County?”
A Note from the Author
I sincerely hope you enjoyed reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it. If you did, I would greatly appreciate a short review on Amazon or your favorite book website. Reviews are crucial for any author, and even just a line or two can make a huge difference.
