He raised himself on his elbows and stayed in that position for a while as he watched Dale busy himself like a loyal companion. The memories of the previous night replayed in his mind. He wished he could re-live the moment again, the rekindled passion as they went at each other a second time. The gentleness of the kisses when his lips met with Dale’s and the way Dale’s tongue brushed against his in pure unsuppressed passion aroused him anew, further stiffening his morning erection. He found himself smiling as his mind wandered around how electrifying it was to have Dale run his fingers all over his body with his nails, igniting impulses that made him twist and turn.

He could still feel the gentle prying tongue of Dale as it ran along the thin strip of flesh from his testicles to his ass. How Dale’s tongue teased him with furtive licks at his hole and then his cock, and back again. Adrian had held his lips tight to quiet the moans of pure pleasure, but to no avail. He felt tormented by Dale. A beautiful torment he could imagine would last forever. He had looked at Dale and had caught the fire of desire burning deep inside his pupils before a flick of his eyelids hid the yearning away.

When Adrian had finally lubricated Dale’s butt, he was anxious to once again receive Adrian’s cock. Adrian gripped Dale by the ankles and spread his legs wide to give him unhindered access to Dale’s pulsating rosebud. But, unlike the first fuck that had unleashed Adrian’s pent-up desire in brutal thrusts, this time he had entered gently as Dale gazed lovingly up at him. Adrian had kissed him each time he eased inside. This time, Adrian was slow to cum, as was Dale. The lovemaking had lasted long after they had spilled their seed. It hadn’t ended until Adrian had fallen into blissful slumber.

“You’re awake.” Dale moved towards the bed, carrying a makeshift tray (out of cereal boxes) with two plates on top.

“I’ve been awake a while now,” Adrian replied.

“Hmm. I wanted to surprise you with breakfast in bed.” Dale brought his head down and Adrian parted his lips to receive Dale’s tongue as naturally as if he had initiated the kiss. It tasted fresh and warm. There was also an underlying smell of wine on his breath.

“I’m surprised. I expected you to have slunk out of here by now. Walk of shame and all.”

Dale grinned. “You’re not ditching me that easily, Chambers.” He sat at Adrian’s feet and rested the Fruit Loop box on Adrian’s raised knees. “Besides, you’re the one most likely to be ashamed in the morning.”

“Yeah, but this is my place. I can’t walk in shame from my own house.”

  “Apartment,” corrected Dale.

  “Studio.”

“Efficiency,” snarked Dale, and they both laughed.

The air around the room suddenly became still. They stared at each other in silence, with only the aroma of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon dividing them. Adrian’s mouth watered, but it wasn’t simply the food between them making his throat dry. He could feel the lump in his throat threatening not to go down even though he swallowed hard a couple of times.

This was supposed to have been an experiment, a one-time experience that shouldn’t have gone beyond scratching the surface. Yet here they were, gazing at each other and contemplating another round of unbridled sex. Dale with his fanged smile and Adrian not even worried about the flaps of skin hanging from his chest.

They sat and ate in silence. Adrian kept his eyes glued on Dale’s. Sometimes Dale smiled at him, or smirked, but he often looked away with a bashful swerve of his head. Adrian felt that funny stitch again that he had thought was jealousy. Finally here was someone to call his own. If he wanted to. If he could be brave enough to see where this bromance that was just starting to kick off led.

It was the doorbell that brought Adrian’s thoughts back to here and now. It rang endlessly, as if someone was leaning into the bell without hearing it. Adrian glanced way from Dale to look at the door. Then he scooted off the bed to go answer it.

“That’s probably Pete and Rudy,” said Adrian with a calm he would not have felt twenty-four hours ago. “No offense, Dale, but go put some clothes on and hide in the closet. I’m not ready for them to know about this. About us.”

  Dale smiled. “There’s an us?”

“I don’t know,” said Adrian. He returned Dale’s hopeful smile. “Let’s just wait and see.”
