Dan scowled at her.
Sally continued, “Now you’re probably wondering what is going to happen to you. I hate suspense, so I’ll just go ahead and tell you. Mr. Waters can’t really turn you over to the authorities now, can he? And we can’t very well let this information come out in a trial. He has a special way of dealing with people like you. How does life in a Siberian prison sound to you?”
As she turned and headed out of the room, she looked over her shoulder and said with a smile, “I thought you’d like that!”
After Mr. Waters and his gang escorted Dan out of the building, Ed went into Sally’s office and said, “Thanks.”
Sally said, “No, thank you! You did great!”
Ed turned to leave and Sally stopped him. “Did you mean all that stuff you said about not liking the person you had become and looking to God for forgiveness?”
“Yes.”
“How would you like your job back?”
Ed graciously accepted the offer and hurried over to shake her hand.
