And now… something interesting had apparently happened with the two captive snappers.
They reached the ground floor, entering the castle storeroom. Naturally, this was where the community kept most of their supplies.
There wasn’t much to see other than a neatly organised mountain of food and drink supplies in the centre of the storeroom. Except for the dirt floor and low ceiling, this room was pretty much the same as the room above.
“Tell me I’m not going nuts,” Asher said as he opened the door to the little dungeon and gestured for them to go in.
Kingsley immediately hated the sounds coming from the only cell in the dungeon as they filed in. And he knew exactly what they were. Teeth tearing into skin and flesh. Blood oozing from bites, puddling on the ground. Chewing – that awful wet chewing sound.
He stared in disgust and bewilderment at the two snappers in the cell as they sunk their teeth into each other. As they gorged on dead meat.
“Oh… Holy shit,” Scott murmured.
It then dawned on Kingsley why Asher had been so urgent for them to see this. And he knew by the speechlessness of his friends that they had realised it too.
The snappers were eating each other.
