Nature had a way of cleansing the effects of mankind.

Laurel returned, tidied up her items, and blew out all the lights. She sat down, wrapping the edges of the blanket around her and stared into the darkness beyond to meditate. Now whatever emotional turmoil she was left with was truly her own, and not magical residue.

And she still couldn’t stop thinking about Nate.

  A Gift is a Blessing

Buried beneath her rosy pink comforter, Laurel stretched and yowled like a kitten. Her bed was gloriously soft. Why did she have to get out of it again? The covers were pulled so far above her head that her long stretch poked her feet out of the bottom into the cold morning air and she let out a sharp yelp. Nope. Not happening yet.

Her phone chirped at her. Instead of getting out of bed, she slid a hand out, scooped up her phone, and pulled it into her nest of covers. It was a text from Simon.

Nate said he’s doing work on the cottage. Way to keep that to yourself.

  Laurel snorted.

I didn’t even know until yesterday.

Gran hired him? I wish she’d spoil me like that.

Don’t live in Oklahoma and maybe she would. Or maybe if you were her favorite…
