“It’s not worth it. It’s never been worth it,” Colt finally responds and looks back at Wyatt. “You’ve got what you wanted. I’m gone.” Colt turns and leaves, disappearing into the woods.

I feel him disconnect from all of us.

For a long second everything is still, tense. And then Wyatt turns and looks at me, his gaze penetrating into mine, his apology spoken without a word being sent.

  “We accept her.”

“We accept her as your mate.”

“Welcome Kendra, mate to Alpha Wyatt.”

Each one of the wolves in the pack speaks to me, letting me know that I am welcome, that there will be no division of the pack from this. I feel pleasure move through me, knowing that I can stand beside Wyatt and not have to worry about disgracing him or his pack. As a newly shifted wolf, I have a lot to learn. But I know with Wyatt by my side anything is possible. Whatever the future holds, Wyatt and I will face it together and conquer it all.

“I love you,” he says to me, his words in my head filled with so much happiness and love that if I were in my human form, I would be crying.

“I love you so much, Wyatt.”

He walks up to me and rubs the side of his face against my side, rubbing his scent on me.

“This is the first day of the rest of our lives.”

  Yes, it really is.

  Epilogue One

  Kendra

We’re lying in bed, recovering after Wyatt made love to me, lazy and slow. Every time he takes me … it just gets better, more intense. I know it’s because of the mating, how he’s claimed me … how my wolf has finally risen.

It’s been six months since Wyatt made me his and every day feels like our connection grows. I have everything I ever wanted and more. I never dreamed I could be this happy. Since finding my wolf and taking my rightful place at Wyatt’s side, I finally feel whole.

With the joy there has been a little pain. I lost my grandmother a couple of months ago. Her passing was painless and I was by her side the whole time, holding her hand. And in return, Wyatt was with me, giving me his love and support. After my first shift into my animal form, I approached my grandmother. I needed to know how it was even possible. That’s when she told me that my father was a wolf shifter, something he kept hidden because he wanted to make my mother happy. Apparently, my mother could never accept that life. She kept me a secret from him, and eventually my father lost his will to live—having been rejected by his mate ... and his pack since he turned his back on them for her.

My heart ached for my father and for the joy that he missed out on. I’ve promised myself that I will hold on to my happiness and live life to the fullest, making sure to never take it for granted. And ever since my wolf emerged, I swear she senses his spirit, as if he was right here beside me, giving me his strength. I know he’s watching over me, and I think maybe he always has. It just took finding my wolf to connect with him.

“What are you doing?” I laugh, distracted from my thoughts.

Wyatt runs his nose against the side of my neck again, his large hand spread out protectively across my stomach.

“You’re pregnant,” he murmurs, kissing my skin gently and inhaling again.

“We’ve known that for a couple of weeks now,” I laugh, feeling so completely happy and in sync with my wolf that the joy is indescribable.

“And every day the scent of you carrying my cub gets deeper, stronger and makes me want to howl with joy,” he mumbles.

  “I love you, Wyatt.”

“I love you, Kendi, more than I will ever be able to tell you.”

“You show me,” I remind him. “Every single day you show me.” I turn over on my back, threading my fingers through his. “Do you think it will be a boy or a girl?”

“The scent is so strong already that it could be one of each.”

I stiffen in surprise, my heart beating rapidly. “Do you think it is? Twins?” I ask, unable to keep the pleasure and excitement out of my voice.

“It’s a possibility. We’ll have to wait and see,” he says and smiles, genuinely happy. “Either way, we will love whatever fate gives us.”

“Hmm … maybe if you keep making love to me, you can plant another child inside … You know, help fate along a little bit.”

He growls low, desire lacing his voice. “Are you trying to tempt me into fucking you again, mate?”

  “Maybe,” I giggle.

“Didn’t I wear you out enough the first time?”

“I’ll never get enough of you, Wyatt,” I tell him honestly.

“I feel the same,” he murmurs, his wolf bleeding through his voice and sending chills through my body. I can feel my wolf humming in pleasure. And then Wyatt takes my mouth, slips his hand between my thighs, spreads my legs, and settles his big body between them. He slides his hard cock inside of me, doing his part to make sure fate blesses us with a boy and a girl.

  Nine months later

In the end, Wyatt might have tried a little too hard.

Then again, neither of us complained when I gave birth to three strong male cubs. Hopefully next time we’ll have girls. You know, just to make it fair.

  Epilogue Two

  Wyatt

  Three years later

I can’t help but smile as the boys run around, their roughhousing is no doubt stressing Kendra out. But it is the way of our kind, the males of a pack so rowdy that the mothers are often patching up scrapes and bruises on a daily basis.

“Lincoln, Fin, Quintin,” Kendra yells from the front door. “Dinner’s ready.” I hear Kendra push against my consciousness. “Wyatt, wrangle those boys up and come inside.” The sweetness of her voice in my head has me growling low in possessiveness.

I watch as the triplets tackle each other to the ground in an attempt to go to the cabin. I groan, wanting her even after all these years, needing her like we were teenagers. I can’t control myself where she’s concerned.

“Come on, boys,” I shout and they stop fighting, all three running into the cabin, and I know Kendra is going to flip out over the mud they’re tracking in.

I take the steps onto the porch, see Kendra grinning and shaking her head as she stares at the boys. I have her in my arms a second later, my nose buried in her neck, her sweet scent filling my head. I can also smell the delicate scent of our child growing inside of her.

Although I didn’t mind waiting to find out the sex of the baby, Kendra was desperate to see if it was a girl. So, she dragged me along to one of those 3D ultrasound places outside of the city. And although I knew she would have been happy with whatever fate decided to bless us with, we found out it was a little girl.

I already feel my protective instinct rise up, knowing that I’ll have to kill any male who comes close to her, sniffing around to date my little girl.

Kendra laughs, reading my thoughts easily. “We have our work cut out for us when our little girl comes.”

I place my hand protectively on her belly, the roundness growing each day. She only has a few more months and then we’ll meet our little princess. That’s when I’ll become even more of a growly bastard.

But I can’t wait. My love for Kendra and our children is so powerful that there isn’t anything in this world that can change it. There isn’t anything that can take them away.

They are mine, and I’ll protect them until my last breath.

  The End

  Bonus Epilogue

  Kendra

I look down at little Rose, her head full of blonde hair, looking like baby feathers. I lift my hand and run my fingers through the soft strands, listening to her softly suckle as she nurses. I can hear the triplets out back, rowdy as usual, and with each day that passes, they become even more rambunctious. But then again, they are wolf shifters.

The sound of Wyatt chopping wood echoes off the trees, but it doesn’t even phase Rose. She’s happily content nursing, dozing off and making me have a perpetual smile on my face.

  W
hen she’s done nursing, I stand, kiss her tiny little forehead, and walk over to the crib. I hear Wyatt come in, the heavy fall of this footsteps resonating on the hardwood floor. I stand by the crib he’d made right before she was born, the craftsmanship personal and intricate.

I stare down at little Rose, looking so peaceful as she sleeps. The boys know better than to come barreling into the house when she’s napping, but truthfully, they stay outside most of the time anyway. It helps to get their energy out, and they like to practice shifting.

I feel Wyatt’s hands wrap around my waist as he pulls me back against him. I rest my head on his shoulder.

“She’s perfect,” he says softly against my ear and I smile again.

  “She really is.”

We leave the bedroom and I shut the door softly, turning on the baby monitor and making my way outside onto the porch. I can see the boys playing on the swing set and attached slides Wyatt put together for them. I lift up the baby monitor so they know to try and be a little quiet, and then sit down on the rocking chair.

A moment later, Wyatt comes out with a glass of cold lemonade, and hands it to me. He sits in the chair beside me and reaches out for my hand. I curl my fingers against his and together we just sit there, watching our boys, and hearing the soft baby snore of Rose come through the monitor.

We don’t talk, preferring silence because it’s truly perfect. This feeling of complete happiness movies through me. The laughter of our children, the knowledge that they are safe, protected, and cared for, settles deep within me.

I turn and look at Wyatt, notice he’s already staring at me, that familiar, possessive look on his face. Despite the fact we’ve been together for years, it still feels like we are newly mated. As I look into his eyes, I see his wolf flash right below the surface, and know completely that he’s mine.

  Only mine.

He growls low, as if he knows what I’m thinking, and moves in close to kiss me soundly. We break away and I rest my head on his shoulder, watching the boys, my lips stretching into an even bigger smile.

This is what being truly happy feels like.

  Unforgiven Country

  COLT

She’s not human and my wolf can sense her inner animal at the surface, ready to fight, to protect.

She can sense me, but she’s scared—way too scared to meet me like this. Right now, I want to push her down against her car and fuck her raw as I bite into her soft skin and mark her as mine. I can’t do that. Her scent is thick with innocence. She’s untouched.

  Virginal and scared.

I let my mind open, reaching out to touch hers. If we had that connection, I would mate with her now. I wouldn’t give her a choice, couldn’t control myself. Her thoughts are rapid and definitely laced with fear. She’s afraid of me. My wolf hurts, not wanting that any more than I do. She may be a shifter, but somehow, she’s been kept away from our baser instincts. That fact is a puzzle to me, one I cannot wait to piece together…
