Captain Rescuer Page 5

by Lauren Brooks

She quickly unbuckled and headed to the bathroom. Shutting the door behind her, Audrey took a deep breath while she tried to think about what she should do. If she remembered correctly, she would be unable to make a call until they broke the atmosphere, but she wondered if they would allow her to remain hidden in the bathroom for the next several minutes. Just as Audrey was sure she was going to be able to make the call; a sickly-sweet smell began to fill the bathroom.

Audrey was bothered by the smell so much that she pulled her shirt up over her mouth to try to filter it out. Sinking to the floor, her eyes began to water from the effort of keeping them open. One handed, she decided to send an email out to her company, hoping that someone would see it and send help.

  To: [email protected]

  From: [email protected]

  Subject: Help!

Body: I’ve been kidnapped. In the bathroom on ship XZ76689. Pumping sleeping gas into the cabin, ship full of women. Trip through travel agency on DuPont avenue. Please send help.

Audrey hit send on her phone before sliding it into the bottom of the trash can. Her brain was barely functioning, but she knew that they could stop the transmission if they saw her phone. Her eyes shuttered closed just as she heard them begin pounding on the bathroom door. In her muddled state she had one hope, that she would get to dream about her man-beast again. She fell asleep on the floor with a small smile on her face. She didn’t know what was to come, but she had hope that at least her dreams would be pleasant.

Unfortunately, Audrey didn’t really understand how electronic transmissions worked in space. She didn’t know that the email wouldn’t go to only her co-workers, but that all unencrypted transmissions were available to anyone monitoring nearby. She didn’t know that she had started a set of circumstances into motion that would test every bit of her strength and resolve, or that her destiny was coming for her like a speeding bullet.
