by Kyle Danvers

The next step would be to try to make sense of things, to try to rebuild, as much as possible. They didn’t have to do it overnight; they didn’t have to work miracles, they just had to survive. Given that the four of them were still standing, Joel didn't doubt they would.

Voices and bodies shuffled around them, ushering them forward, but Joel paid them little mind as he walked with Cass and Nate. He didn’t know where they were going and didn’t care because he couldn’t take his eyes off his kids. For so long, he’d had to fight to believe they were still alive, still out there somewhere, and that he might find them one day—and he had, but after everything he’d been through, it didn’t seem real.

Though Joel had no idea what waited for them in the future, what other things they might have to face, he took comfort in knowing they would do it together—because now that Joel had found his family, he would do anything to keep them safe.

  Anything.

  About the Author

Kyle Danvers is an author of post-apocalyptic EMP survival thrillers.

From a young age, Kyle’s always had a morbid fascination with what life might look like after a catastrophic event—and the potentially terrifying ways it might change people as a result.

When he's not writing, he's consuming all manner of post-apocalyptic fiction, which probably only feeds his anxiety.
