Dawn of Revelation Page 40

“No problem. I do a lot of this kind of thing.”

The sun was starting to go down when the car pulled up to the marina in Long Island. The evening twilight reflected off the water.

“Do you want me to wait?” the driver asked.

“Nope,” Maddy told him. “We’re good.”

It wasn’t true. Maddy didn’t like to watch him drive away, but if Bryan wasn’t at the marina and couldn’t help them, there was no point in depending on one person too much.

“John Forester sold the marina last year,” the receptionist at the office told Maddy. “I haven’t seen Bryan since then.”

“Thank you,” Maddy said bravely. Both young women backed out of the office.

Once they were outside tears began to form at the corners of Tilly’s eyes.

“I don’t know why, but I’m not worried,” Maddy said. It was true. There was no sense of panic. “Let’s just stroll around for a few minutes and clear our heads.”

‘Okay,” Tilly agreed. “We don’t have any money, there’s no place we can really hide because everyone knows who we are, Molly Hollister is going to be mad at us—”

“But we can still enjoy the evening,” Maddy cut in. “And my bra is stuffed with cash.”

  “Really?”

“Really.” Maddy grinned. “I did some table dances in my spare time today.”

Tilly surprised herself by laughing a little. Together they meandered down a long dock, admiring the expensive boats tethered there.

“Are you from One Tough Customer?”

Maddy and Tilly looked up at a beautiful blonde woman in a bikini looking down at them, intrigued. No point in lying.

“We just escaped the set. We quit!” Maddy unexpectedly told the truth. It seemed like the right thing to do.

“O-M-G, Bonnie! Livy! Get up here!” the young woman began laughing. “Look who’s here!”

“You’re from Molly’s show,” a lovely brunette accused them both.

  “Not anymore! They ran away!”

  “Are you sailing away?”

“No,” Maddy answered. “That was our plan, but Brice wasn’t here to help—”

“You know Brice?” The brunette smiled. “He’s our captain. We sent him for some supplies and then he’s taking us to Florida.”

“Oh,” Maddy said. That definitely meant Brice couldn’t help them.

“I went to high school with Molly Hollister. I hate her so much… more than anything. I would love to help you hide from that bitch. Get on board and come to Florida with us,” the blonde said with great enthusiasm. Instantly, the other two women grinned and nodded in agreement. “You have to let us help you!”

“We’d love to!” Maddy said, looking at Tilly, who was nodding.

“As soon as Bryan gets back we’re leaving!”

Maddy and Tilly were welcomed aboard, and Livy poured them both glasses of champagne. Brice came back with a box of gluten free crackers and breads that Bonnie had sent him for. He nearly choked when he saw Tilly and Maddy, but after he hugged Maddy, was formally introduced to Tilly, and mentally adjusted to the new passengers, he was tickled to help rob Molly Hollister of her reality show stars.

“So long, Molly!” Tilly and Maddy toasted as they left the marina.

“Here’s to new friends!” Sugar, the blonde who had greeted them, toasted back.

“New friends!” everyone echoed. The marina faded into the sunset.

Are you ready?” Becky, Molly Hollister’s personal assistant asked as filming was completed. “Your driver is out front.”

“I’d rather he was running down those two bitches trying to wreck my show,” Molly fretted. “But we’ll have them back by tomorrow morning. Let me get my purse and I’ll be right there.”

The sound of Molly’s rage rose above the city traffic.
