Subscriber Wars: An Enemies-to-Lovers-Romantic Comedy Page 14

by Kristy Marie

I angle her head back, admiring the smooth, tanned skin at her jaw. Unlike that night, her face is bare of any makeup and her lips glisten with a gloss I plan on smearing all over her face. Wrapping my hand around her neck, I pull her down, nuzzling under her ear, and inhaling the scent of something floral. I nudge the soft skin at her hairline before I nip the bottom of her ear with my teeth.

Her hands go to my shoulders. Whether they are holding me to her or pushing me away, I’ll never know, because I pull her close and press my lips to hers. Unlike the first time, our lips don’t come together softly. My lips meet hers, hard and unyielding. Our teeth clash and her hands grip the sides of my face. She’s trying to control the kiss, but she forgets one thing.

She didn’t surprise me this time.

She isn’t getting that Sebastian. She’s getting the real me. The me who wants to consume her and hate her.

I grunt when she bites my bottom lip, but with one tug of her hair and a small whimper from her compliant little body, I’m back in control, slipping my tongue into the warmth of the mouth that has lied, deceived, and made me horny, all in the span of half an hour.

My tongue eases in and out, exploring every inch of her mouth. For a moment, I forget we’re on camera or that we’re supposed to be just filming a sweet kiss, not an intro into a porno, but there’s no way I can stop. We’ll just have to redo the shot later.

Like when we get ourselves together and calm the fuck down.

“Sebastian,” she mumbles, when I move to her neck, kissing down the side. “I think we got the shot.”

Fuck. I think I’m addicted. “One more, just in case,” I say, breathily and slightly growly.

  “Okay,” she agrees.

And this moment right here is where we went wrong. Again. For the second time in our relationship.

“Tell me again why girls think this is—” I frown, drawing a blank. “What’s that stupid phrase you use?”

I should have been able to predict the hard shove to my chest, but for some reason, I’m off my game, and it sends me a step back.

  “What did I say?”

One thing I’ve learned from hanging out these past three weeks with Vee is that women expect you to know how they are feeling at all times. Granted, Vee is so much more low maintenance than most girls, but I still find myself wondering what I’ve said when she walks off and flips me the bird. Case in point, right now.

Valentina spears me with a sharp and deadly look. It’s meant to make me nervous. It doesn’t. All it makes me want to do is shove her ass down on the sofa and show her exactly where she can put those lips. Trust me, it’s not somewhere tasteful.

“I don’t use the phrase,” she scolds me. “I simply said #couplegoals is the internet trend and all couples, who are anyone online, try to create pictures and videos that make the single girls swoon with hope that there are men out there for them and it makes the girls in relationships tell their boyfriends to do better.”

My brows furrow. “But it’s all fake. Seems like they would know that. I mean, what dude actually wants to play video games with his girlfriend on his lap?”

I flop down on the sofa and grab the controller as to demonstrate. On the edge of the sofa with my elbows resting on my knees, I grasp the controller and stare straight ahead at the TV. “See, when I want to win, the last thing I’m doing is lying back in my bed or reclining on the sofa with my arms around my girl, pressing the buttons.”

I wave a hand over my body’s position. “This is how I play. I have room to jump up, drop some F bombs, and get right up to the TV to make sure I beat my competitor.”

This whole ‘pretend we’re playing video games together’ thing is ridiculous and totally Vee’s idea. When we actually managed to strategize, it was her saying, “Can we just agree to let me do all the planning? I don’t think you have any idea what our viewers want to see.”

I didn’t argue because, honestly, I didn’t know what the hell they wanted. All I know is that everything we’ve been posting has been blowing up. We’re the number one favorite in the UniCamFlix Competition. So if Vee’s crazy ideas get us there, then great. Winning and getting the fuck out of Georgia is my end goal.

Vee looks up from the camera, making sure the angle is right on the tripod. “Don’t be ridiculous. Girls know that you don’t play seriously with them on your lap. The point is you allow them to enjoy something you enjoy.”

I think about her words for a minute. “Really? You all want to play video games with us?”

This time, she shakes her head and flops down beside me, jostling us both. “Please, bitch, I plan on kicking your ass after we shoot this video.”

She sounds so serious that I throw my head back and laugh. “I should have remembered. You’re not a typical girl.”

She nods, examining the controls on the handset. “Don’t you forget it either.”

Her comment sends a jolt of memories through me and my grip on the controller tightens. She notices, but she doesn’t say anything and that’s good because we somehow need to get through this shoot without arguing.

“Okay,” Vee says, then exhales, as if preparing herself for this conversation. “In order for it to look super ‘coupl-y’ you need to change into those gray sweatpants you have and leave off the shirt.”

I can feel my eyes go wide. “What in the hell do sweatpants have to do with playing video games?”

She rolls her eyes. “Think about it, Bash. Do you think couples snuggle with a lot of clothes on?”

“We have to snuggle?” I am one hundred percent sure she did not mention that earlier when she was pitching the idea to me. “You didn’t mention any snuggling.”

Why is this an issue for me? I don’t know. I mean, on average, I’m not a cuddler, but with Valentina, I’m really not up for a cuddle session.

“Stop being a baby,” she says and rips off her shirt.

“Oh my God! What the fuck are you doing?” I toss the controller down and stand. “Put your shirt back on.”

Well, maybe wait a minute. No. No, she definitely needs to put it back on. Seeing her in a sports bra that dips dangerously low, showing two rounded hills of smooth skin that look like two ass cheeks squished together… I can’t be trusted with a bra like that.

It’s painful—literally painful, as my dick stands at attention. We’re not used to seeing Valentina Lambros in any other way than as a friend and the annoying neighbor. The bra and— “Why are you taking off your pants?”

She walks away, her panties on full display as she ignores me, pulling something out of her bag and slipping them on.

“Why are you changing into those shorts?”

Fuck me. These shorts are pink and girly and sit high on her thigh. I rake a hand through my hair. I can’t do this.

“We can shoot the scene without our faces,” I try to negotiate. “We can get Pam next door to do it.”

Vee isn’t having it, though, and comes to stand in front of me. “Shut up and strip. If you want to win the prize money, then you have to do what it takes.” She motions to her bra and bare stomach. “This is what it takes, Bash. Are you pussying out?”

I glare at her. “Don’t challenge me, Vee. You know I’ll rise to the occasion.”

Which she knows and that’s exactly why she said it. I snatch off my shirt and toss it somewhere toward the kitchen then stalk to my bedroom where I find those fucking sweatpants she was talking about and pull them on. When I’m done, I walk back into the living area to find that she has pushed the coffee table closer to the sofa and it looks cozy and date-like.

  I hate it already.

“See? Was that so hard?” she asks, eyeing my bare chest before going back to the pillows she’s arranging.

“I need something to drink,” is all I respond with. Clearly my mood has plummeted into asshole territory. I’ve never been one to deprive myself or suffer, so I’m not eager for my neighbor’s half-dressed body to be pressed up against me while we shoot half
an hour of footage that we’ll only use three minutes of.

“No alcohol,” she tells me, and it stops my steps to the kitchen.

“Why the hell not?” Alcohol is the only thing that is going to get me through this torture.

She doesn’t even spare me eye contact when she returns. “I don’t want you getting sloppy and debating stupid shit with me on camera. I know how you can get.”

Where is something I can throw?

I growl out something that sounds more like a muted scream. She does know how I get, and she’s also fallen prey to such arguments when we both were tipsy.

I take the last few steps to the kitchen and yank open the fridge and grab a fucking water because, apparently, this is going to suck epically. I down half of it in one go, before setting it on the counter and taking a deep breath.

One million dollars, dude. Los Angeles. A fresh start.

This will all be worth it. All you need to do is suffer through half an hour and then she can go home, back to her own space, and you can spray Lysol and attempt to get rid of her sweet smell in the house.

My pep talk does little to comfort me. I don’t own a can of Lysol and burning the place down would be in bad taste. I’ll just have to open the windows and possibly go to Rowan’s. Although, I’d prefer not to see him or Maverick right now and have them ask a million questions and give me shit, thinking I finally hooked up with my neighbor.

I gave Maverick so much shit when he started dating Ainsley. He’d, no doubt, jump at the opportunity to return the favor.

“Let’s get this over with,” I tell her in a shitty voice, one I’ll probably regret later once I’ve settled down. But Vee doesn’t seem to mind. Maybe this sucks just as much for her.

  “Alright. You sit down first.”

I take a deep breath and follow her directions for the first time and sit amongst the pillows and blankets on my sofa.

“Okay, now lie back. Put your head on the pillow behind you.”

I feel awkward and exposed as she watches my every movement, judging the angles and the way my body is posed for the greatest sex appeal.

“Good,” she praises. “Now put your leg on the coffee table. Keep the other one on the ground and scooch down so your chest is wider.”

  I arch a brow. “Scooch?”

She grins. “Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about. Scooch.”

I do know what she means. It’s just been a long time since I’ve heard her say it.

When I’m down and looking exactly like she wants me to, she walks over. “Now I’m going to join you, alright?”

My hands flinch as I stare up at her flat and smooth stomach. This is way worse than the kiss. Her chest is flushed and is the only giveaway that she’s nervous too.

“Don’t say it like you’re warning me,” I tell her.

She huffs. “I’m just preparing you.”

“I’m prepared,” I lie. “I knew what I was signing up for.” I also knew I wouldn’t like it, or I’d like it too much, which is even worse.

Valentina sits delicately between my legs and lies back so that her back touches my chest. Her feet follow as she lays them over mine.

I swallow thickly. The position we are in is definitely not one for gaming or one for not getting hard. Each time she takes a breath, I can feel it on my chest as if I’m the one breathing. Her hips are cradled between my legs and my dick does not miss the weight of her body bearing down on us.

“You okay?” she asks after a minute.

I want to shove her off, but I also want to dry hump the shit out of her, so I just stick with “Yeah.”

“Okay. I’m going to hit record now if you’ll start the game. Remember this isn’t about the game, it’s about making playing the game look sexy.”

I nod. Trust me, in this position, there is no way I’ll actually be able to focus on playing. Not with the warmth of her body burning me from the inside out.

Focusing, I turn on the game. I don’t play many video games, but I keep Call of Duty because Rowan likes to play when he comes over. The bastard is too cheap to pay for WIFI, so he comes over here when the silence gets to be too much and he needs a little socialization.

So, seeing how I don’t own many games and Call of Duty is already in the console, I boot it up and turn it on. Vee grabs her controller.

“Do you need me to go over anything with you?” I ask. I mean, I don’t think she will need me to but sometimes she surprises me.

“Nah, I know how to play. Drew and Fenn play this all the time.”

Of course they do, and I’m willing to bet she knows how to play well.

  Fuck.

“You’re going to have to put your arms around me,” she says, lying back in my arms.

I take one—no, two—deep breaths and wrap my arms around her with the controller securing my hands in her lap .

  I groan.

I’m not going to make it half an hour without doing something shitty. I can already feel it.

“We’re recording.” She tilts her head back and catches my eyes. “Remember to act like you love me.”

I swallow before rolling my eyes. “Worry about acting your own part,” I tell her, which only makes her laugh.

She knows I’m struggling. Fuck her.

Fifteen minutes later and I’m sweating. I grab her hips as she yells “Suck on that, Bash-hole.”

“Stop fucking moving,” I grate out. Yes, I’m losing epically, but what’s more concerning than losing to a girl is that my dick is having trouble keeping his head from bruising Vee’s back.

“Don’t get all pouty,” she says, laughing as her silky legs move along mine.

I throw my head back and toss my controller to the floor. I am so fucking done. In the last two weeks, I’ve slept like shit, been taken down by a rescue dog, felt Valentina’s hands tangled in my hair, and had her tongue tangled with mine. And if that wasn’t enough, all the talking, nightly movie watching, and stupid dances have absolutely tortured the living fuck out of me. A man can only take so much.

  Today, is that day.

“What are you doing?” She follows the controller landing on the floor. “Are you really that much of a spoilsport?”

  Sure am.

I grab her hips, and I grind my rock-hard dick into her ass cheeks.

“This,” I grit. “All this celebratory movement…” I grind into her hard, and she gasps. “Yeah. This is why these videos are bullshit. It’s not possible to actually play while you’re sliding up and down my dick, taunting me.”

  “Oh,” she whispers.

I grind into her once more. “Oh is right, Valentina. This is torture.”

I can feel her heavy breaths against my chest and then her hips start to move. I clamp down on her hips tighter. “What are you doing?”

She doesn’t stop, instead, she drops the controller and turns off the camera. “Do it,” she tells me. “You don’t have to look at me.”

I cock my head to the side. “I—”

She starts moving her hips, and my head falls back on its own. I groan. “This wasn’t part of the deal,” I mutter, but I don’t mean it. Truth be told, ever since I laid eyes on Valentina Lambros, I’ve wanted her. Sure, she pissed me off worse than anyone else in my life but, somehow, I’m okay with it because if our roles were reversed, and I would have thought of the prank she did, I would have played it with a fucking smile on my face.

She outsmarted me, and I hate that it turns me on.

My neighbor, my nemesis, turns her head back so as not to look at me and I can’t do it. I don’t want her to think I can’t stand the sight of her. It’s quite the opposite.

“Face me,” I demand, my voice raspy and thick with want.

She hesitates but eases up and untangles her feet from mine. I shift on the sofa so that my entire body is on it as Vee straddles me and lowers herself down. My hands go to her hips and I swallow. We’re crossing a line, but I guess we’re both up for making t
errible decisions today.

Vee’s head falls back the minute I press her down on my dick, which is not at all impressed with dry humping and would much rather be set free into something hot, wet, and full of fire.

I move her body back and forth once and I can’t even keep my head up. The pressure, the friction feels so damn good. I moan and I can feel the muscles in my neck tighten. This will not last long. Valentina Lambros is grinding down on my cock. It’s a nightmare that dreams are made of.

I hate that I love the feel of her body and I especially hate that I love coming to the view of her on top of me, riding me like she has it mastered.

I push and pull her faster and faster until her hands come down and reach for my chest, hanging on as I pull her to a stop and come in my fucking pants like a fucking teenager.

We stay there, still and panting, as we come down from our high.

“I’m going to shower,” she says, easing off. The missing weight of her body feels wrong.

“Okay,” I tell her, as she disappears down the hall.

  Sebastian and Valentina

Second Interview Continued, also the time Vee admitted she gets off on the sight of my dimple

Tom writes something on a piece of paper and passes it off to his assistant. “Okay. How about we take another question?”

Vee and I both tense up. “Sure.”

“Vee, this question is for you. Brittany asks, ‘What is your favorite feature of Sebastian’s?’”

I shift in my seat and look over at Vee. Finally some decent questions. I was tired of all the love shit.

Vee clears her throat and offers the camera a soft smile. “Probably his dimple.”

The shower has been off for five minutes now. Vee opted to shower here. She says it’s because she didn’t feel like going home, but I know she only wants to use my organic soap. I see the way she ogles it, so I know the reason I’ve been able to change, grab a snack and stare at my phone while my sister blasted me with several hateful text messages is because she is enjoying the hell out of the frog-free ecosystem friendly lather.
